It’s such a great connection between Overture and Volume 1. I forgot about that moment when I recorded this video, but when I watched season 1 and they did the hell battle, and Morpheus said he was hope, I made the connection to overture and thought it was a really cool Easter egg.
I just literally finished binge watching your Sandman coverage series literally 5 minutes ago for the whole day and I was surprise you just uploaded this one 22m minutes ago.
I love many artists, but JH Williams III is hands down the best artist working in the industry currently. The way he switches and blends styles is masterful.
A couple more easter eggs to mention: In "the Kindly Ones" Dream gets exactly the same scar (and with the same scorpion weapon), as Alienora does in Overture. It was in one of the interviews, that the first visit to Father Time occurred on the pages that you showed at 26:00 There Dream disappears for one panel. 🤗
Hey Danny, I just wanted to say thanks for all the work you put into these comic readings and how you always upload on time on Sunday I started watching you when you uploaded the criminal comics, and I’ve been hooked ever since, the videos you post have honestly helped me get through a pretty rough divorce a little while back, so just sincerely thank you man. I’m a fan for life.
I really appreciate the theme of holding a grudge and the damage it can do that surround The Sandman stories. Morpheus needed to learn more from his siblings on how to live in peace.
Wow! I’m blown away at how good this story was. Morpheus and Desire make a good team. Desire knows how to help his/her stubborn brother when he needs help. I also like the inclusion of all the endless and their parents. The art is also mind lowering and beautiful. I hope there are more stories like this.
I only got round to reading Overture a couple of months ago - despite having read the entire Sandman series as it came out, and multiple times since. I found it really hard to read - not because of the story but because of the text on colour and my deteriorating eyesight. I really need a bigger edition than the deluxe hardback I bought. I have the Absolute editions up to vol. 5 and even the bigger format of that will not be big enough for my terrible vision. So this video was rather helpful - reading the book actually gave me a headache. Also just realised from this video how much the Morpheus of Overture more closely resembles Jack White than Pete Murphy.
Yeah I had to reread it on my big tablet to really take everything all in and understand it all because of how text bubbles and art was set up but once I got everything I loved this one for sure. I really loved the ending and Cat(desire) was the MVP of this story though. I really loved the art because I guess the artist was going for a dreamy look but yeah lol if someone doesn't have good eyesight and take their time they won't understand a damn thing at times.

Not a sandman fan...i thought i would not like the paper girls story *because its about 4 females...im not going to lie* so i didnt watch the 1st video. On the 2nd week i decided to watch one and two the same day and now im kind of intetested. Cant wait unril we get back to that comic again
I love the artwork I remember when a friend and fellow artist of mine gave me his entire collection before they moved to Colorado to become a Muslim and he couldn’t have such things and I kept them in mint condition and then one night our apartment building was set on fire by a evicted tenant and they were all destroyed by water also first print vol 1-4 of TMNT I’m still sick about it and that was 20 years ago but I was so heartbroken I never finished reading it and gave up collecting comics but I’m really enjoying the Netflix’s adaptation well except for all the woke stuff
You have to take your time because of the dreamy art and have read the other Sandman comics to understand the mythos and rules of the universe you know. I thought it was great but yeah I had to reread it slower to understand everything because of how the speech bubbles were placed on the insane art. 8/10 for me.
@@therealistintheboot8822 put in all but it just doesn't make sense how the new sandman was able to return the watch thing to a universe that didn't exist anymore because everything was rewritten? Like it was literally just not the same father time essentially.
@@shindig9000 Hmmm maybe OG Dream set up something to make sure he went found the clock at the right time? Also since this is a prequel everything that happened this story would be in Dreams library.

@@shindig9000 Hmm this might give me a reason to reread it to see what I missed, it might be something in the other Sandman comics that would explain how New Dream has knowledge from OG Dream. I still liked it overall but yeah New Dream having knowledge of when and where to get the clock needed to be explained better though.

When he goes full on Moebius in the scene in the desert with the rock spires it is absolutely indistinguishable from the work of great man himself.
