Hi Sir, this is the best video I have seen online for Paris Metro Usage on CZcams. Thanks a lot.
Just want to ask, can I take my passport size Photo (like I gave for France Visa) at the airport and get my Navigo Decouverte Pass by Paying 5 Euros or is it mandatory to get the mentioned photo from the booth at airport? Also, can this pass be used to commute from CDG Terminal 2 to Wagram Station and back?

Excellent video, thank you. What a strange Weekly Pass system which must put many people off buying it - including me and my group of three who will be there from Friday to Monday. Is it deliberately meant to be restrictive to encourage more people to buy the more expensive options? I hope Paris eventually introduces a contactless card system (like London) which makes life so much easier and flexible.

Thank you for this video! We are a family of 4 planning a week-long trip to Paris next Spring - landing on a Saturday evening. Based on your excellent advice and videos my current plan is to take a taxi (or uber/bolt) from CDG to our Airbnb in Montmartre. Use Sunday to walk around and explore on foot and then on Monday purchase the Navigo card + weekly pass (5 euros for the card + 30 euros for the weekly pass for each one of us). I will bring passport sized pictures of all of us. I am understanding correctly that I cannot purchase the Navigo weekly pass on Saturday or Sunday and wait until Monday to use it. I can only purchase it on Monday?

Hello, thank you so much for your very informative video :D
What would you recommend a family of 4 going to Paris to see the typical attractions (Tour Eiffel, Arc de Triomphe, Notre Dame, Louvre etc.) for 5 days?
We thought of buying the Navigo Easy with 'Single-journey ticket' and chose the '10 booklets'. However, can you use the 10 booklets in all zones?
Also, does the same rule apply to the '10 booklets' as the cardboard tickets? Do the 10 booklets only permit metro-to-metro or RER-to-RER or metro-RER?

    • @paristoptips
      @paristoptips  Před 11 měsíci +1

If you stay only in Paris (no Versailles, no Disneyland), then a Navigo Easy with 10 t+ tickets is the cheapest solution. You can use the t+ tickets in all metros, in all busses (except OrlyBus and RoissyBus), in the RER in Paris, and transfer metro to metro and metro to RER (in Paris) and bus to bus and tramways.
Yes, the virtual t+ ticket that you have on the Navigo Easy is the exact same ticket as the cardboard t+ ticket.
If you want to take the train or the RER outside of Paris, then you will have to buy a "destination" cardboard ticket.

Another question - The Navigo Liberte Card allows you to make 5 journeys @ 1.69 and then it will only charge you a one day pass price of 5 tickets or 8.45E. Does the Navigo easy pass allow the same ? (During the same day, you can be charged up to a maximum of €8.45 (price of the navigo day 2 zones). Beyond that, your trips are free .)

    • @paristoptips

No. With the Navigo Easy, every trip will be paid 1€69, whatever the number per day.
      But:
      1. Navigo Liberté+ is only available on the Navigo Card at 5€ (vs. 2 € for the Navigo Easy)
      2. You must provide your bank details to subscribe to Liberté+, which seems complicated for occasional visitors to Paris, hence the reason why I never talk about it.

We made the mistake of downloading the SNCF app on our phones. it is a terrible system. It sounds like a great idea since you don't have to buy a separate card and just reload tickets on your phone. However in actual use the phones rarely work at the ticket scanners. You must have an internet connection and your NFC turned on your phone. Even after all that is active the scanners still doesn't work consistently. I will go to one scanner and it will reject me. Then I instantly go to another scanner and it will accept me. WTF??? There are other times when I have many electronic tickets remaining on my phone and the scanners will reject me. I have to stop my NFC and restart on my phone then it will accept me. WTF??? If I knew this at the start I would have just bought the Navigo card from the beginning. Now, We are visiting Paris again this September just for 4days & we are arriving on a Thursday evening. Could you please advise on the following:
    1. Should we renew the weekly pass OR is there a better option considering that Except for 1 journey on a RER train from CDG to gare du nord, we will mostly be using metros & the bus between zones 1 to 3 for 3 days (We are looking for convenience, not so much for cost saving)

      Thanks for the appreciative comment.
You say you will commute from zone 1 to zone 3. Is this using metro (some of them go to zone 3) or bus or do you have to take the RER or a train?
If so, then Navigo découverte would be useful, as the price from zone 1 to zone 3 by train is 3€10. And if you have to combine metro + bus, then it's 2 t+ tickets each way. You have to count how many times in total in these 4 days you would need a t+ ticket, add this up and add the train from CDG price, and then compare to the 30€ of a Navigo Découverte weekly pass.
That is if you can purchase it on the Thursday, because from Friday it would be for the following week.
You can purchase it online, though it's a tad complicated if you have an NFC compatible phone. More info here: www.iledefrance-mobilites.fr/en/tickets-fares/media/smartphone

Navigo Découverte and Navigo Easy are physical cards that you can only purchase on premises.

If you are able to access the ticket selling shop on Thursday ( it closes at 10 PM), then Navigo Découverte will be the best solution.
But you'll have to pay for another ticket to the airport on Monday, as Navigo Découverte weekly only goes up to Sunday.

Navigo Découverte price is 30€ for the week plus 5 € for the card, plus price of the photo, so 35€+.
Going to the airport is 11€45. Which means, that Navigo Découverte would be interesting only if you spend more than 35-11€45=23€55 in t+ tickets, which means more than 12 T+ tickets, in 3 days. It seems a lot to me, but then, I don't know what you will do....

It depends on what you want to do and when you start your week.
The Navigo weekly pass is only available from Monday to Sunday.
And if you intend to use less than 18 times and only inside Paris, the Navigo Easy pass is a better priced solution.
