Clearly this is a huge problem. Instead of ASUS making a video about how to work your way around it - how about fixing it permanently in the BIOS?

@@asus_support Hi asus, I installed today a crucial p5 1tb 2280 m.2 nvme ssd, but for some reason, it's just not detected. Yes i have installed it in the proper m.2 slot, pcie3, nothing, tried removing all the sata drives connected, nothing, CSM mode is enabled, secure boot is disabled. PCIe mode just won't show up, and on nvme devices it just shows "no nvme devices found". I read some guides around and a guy was saying: if windows doesn't put a EFI boot sector partition, the nvme won't be visible".But how do i even try to put a UEFI partition on there if the drive it's not even visible? Yes the BIOS is updated too. Weird thing tho, it gets heated up like i'm reading/writing from there. CPU is i7-10700. motherboard: rog strix B560-F so i excluded pcie4 because of my CPU. it only displays SATA and AHCI, nvme "devices not found". Can't access PCIe modes as well. in PCH storage config, no M.2 option is displayed, nor the M.2 & SATA mode option.

Is the motherboard ROG STRIX B560-F GAMING WIFI and the bios version 1017?
Do you install the m.2 nvme ssd in M.2_1, M.2_2 or M.2_3 slot? All of them are not detected? Have you restored bios to default settings and tried other m.2 nvme ssd?

Very nice and glad to see you're still answering people. Let's see at what depth you can go.
I own an ASUS Z170-A i bought in 2015 and a Western Digital WDS256G1X0C-00ENX0 M2 SSD NVMe disk. The BIOS version model is 3802 which is the very last from 2018/04/27.
Absolutely nothing related to NVMe disk on the EZ BIOS panel. It states only about SATA Information. Neither there's any setting for NVMe in advanced mode. I really never could get reliable explanations back in the years on ASUS forums. And i finally ended up with this settings into Advanced\Onboard Devices Configuration :
[M.2] SATA mode will be switched to M.2. SATA Express can only support PCIE devices
[SATA EXpress] SATA mode will be switched to SATA Express. M.2 can only support PCIE devices.
I've selected [SATA EXpress] and the disk works using this setting.
But since this time, I never been able to figure out if it's the good setting and moreover, why this ASUS Z170-A motherboard using a BIOS version 3802 do not display anything related to NVMe devices...
Please have you any answer? Best regards and thank you.

      Hi
      Kemoi Même,
I'm afraid for the old models (ex: TUF B450-PLUS GAMING), which use PCIE Mode M.2 SSD(including: NVME M.2), information of hard disk or SSD doesn't show in Storage Information in BIOS EZ Mode due to the framework of the BIOS.

    • @MiettedeThonTomate
      @MiettedeThonTomate Před 2 lety +5

@@asus_support Thank you for answering, i really appreciated. But in the case of "older" motherboards, what is the correct setting in BIOS when adding an M2 NVMe drive? Since 2015, ASUS hasn't made it clear on this matter. You could also have done a little BIOS update for your "old" customers. Without any nastiness, that's a bit of what we can blame you for, lack of clarity and lack of updates. And that's so sad, because I'm not sure you understand. Thank you again and have a good day.

What do i do if the drive locks up the computer with the drive installed? I cannot get into the bios with my drive installed, it just hangs the computer on the ROG image. I can access the drive through a dock once windows is booted on a computer using a different main boot drive. Model g531gt and drive is a micron 512 gb m.2 nvme 4x4. Computer boots fine with a different drive.

I have an asus z490-a motherboard with an intel 10700k and i want to install a NVMe Samsung 990 pro.
Will i have problems with it? (At the end of the video they said that some motherboards can not detect m2 drives if you are using an 10gen intel cpu and this made me wonder if i should not buy the NVMe.

I've used my computer regularly every day with new components since October-November 2020. Today I see that my monitor shows the BIOS and I come to realize it isn't booting into Windows anymore. I see that my NVMe isn't showing as a bootable device anymore in the BIOS. I tried disconnecting, reconnecting the NVMe; trying it into the M.2_2 port; updated to the latest BIOS (2423 x64 - 8/10/2021[Build Date] and even in another nearby computer (that also had an Asus motherboard). My motherboard is Asus TUF Gaming B550-Plus. I've resetted to BIOS defaults and pressed F10 to save and exit. The NVMe *does* show in "Advanced>NVMe Configuration" as Sabrent Rocket 4.0 1TB. It shows Seg:Bus:Dev:Func as 00:01:00:00 Model Number as the Sabrent title I stated above. Total size is 0.0 GB Vendor ID is 1987 Device ID is 5016. Doing the Short/Extended Test below returns a result: "Not Available"
I enabled CSM and it gave a black screen with text saying reboot device and add a bootable disk/device (something along those lines). Please help me

If it didn't occur after any settings or components changed, please try other NVME SSD.

    Hello.
I've done that, and it worked. But still I must do this everytime I connect to the PC. It goes straight to the BIOS and I do this process again, the SSD is there and everything is fine... Until I turn it off; when I come back, so is the BIOS without the SSD, making me repeat the process. Can you help me? I have an A520 A and the BIOS is updated

Hi Paulo barbosa da costa pimentel,
Is the model name PRIME A520M-A? Do you mean if you enable CSM in bios, the m.2 ssd would show up but the pc cannot boot into windows? If you disable CSM in bios, the m.2 ssd would disappear but the pc can boot into windows? Do you install OS in the m.2 ssd? May I have the brand and the model name of the m.2 ssd?
