King Charles III officially proclaimed in historic televised ceremony

- Charles has officially been proclaimed King Charles III, following the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II.
This was perhaps the most British of days, when high ceremony and age-old tradition formed the backdrop to a new era - King Charles III declaring himself ready to take on the "heavy responsibilities of Sovereignty".
The King was officially proclaimed as monarch, he delivered a declaration to the Accession Council - which included senior politicians and all six former Prime Ministers - and was televised for the first time in history.
I remember as an 8 year old American child being awakened by my mother in the middle of the night and taken next door to a neighbor house that had a television set to watch Elizabeth being crowned as the Queen. (very unusual at that time as it was broadcast live) Now at 76 years old I am watching that same woman being buried and her son who was born when I was 3 years old being crowned King. Time moves on. I hope Charles is as successful as his mother was.
Wow, I am in awe by your story. 💜 Love from France 🇫🇷

@@wtfishappening8476 Absolutely, this is something which is either not known, or overlooked
People, stop saying this is the crowning, it is not… is the PROCLAMATION of King Charles III. The crowning or coronation will be a year after Queen Elizabeth II’s passing. RIP
The people who think this is "The Coronation" are going to be TOTALLY AMAZED when they see the pageantry and ancient ceremony of the King's REAL Coronation!
C est déjà reine c est diana c est la place roi William ok non roi Charles 👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼
Oh ok, good. Thank you for answering my question. I was wondering why they weren't doing a coronation, or if that press conference looking thing in the throne room was the coronation, I was sorely disappointed. So this happens a year from now. I will be waiting.
@harry macdonald I was surprised he took Charles given the turbulent history of that name.
Then again, he did marry a Spencer who is descended from the Stuart line, so maybe he's bringing it all back.
Long Live The King ! 🇬🇧🤴
We as a people need to get over our fascination with filming things on our phones that are already being filmed professionally.
I have lived for the entirety of Queen Elizabeth II's reign and now I will see the reign of her son, King Charles III. I have seen much come to pass in my 71 years and I will likely forget some of it when I reach my "old" age and time to jump to my next adventure. But I will never forget Queen Elizabeth nor the crowning of King Charles III. Although many may think these ceremonies are "arcane" or "bonkers" as the one reporter stated, to me, an American, I find them enlightening and fascinating. Traditions matter. They are what hold families and countries together. Long live King Charles III. God bless the world.
Beautifully said
Excuse me, but there wasnt a coronation yet , just a proclamation.
Elizabeth been crowned a year after her father's death.
I love that they hold on to the old ways. Its like going back in time I think its cool.
There are disadvantages to holding onto the old ways. The commentator was correct in describing it as arcane, but I would add that it was out of touch with the modern world.

My own mother and Queen Elizabeth were both born on April 21, 1926. Every year when we'd celebrate my mons birthday we'd also toast Queen Elizabeth. I'm glad for Charles that he had six more years with his mom than I got with mine, and I'm sad for him that he's now lost her. No matter how long a life our parents may have it still feels too soon to have them pass on. I think Charles is a decent guy who will serve well as King. Condolences and best wishes to him.

@@brianjohnson6053 To what? Heredity?
Can't help drawing the analogy with Edward VII, who succeeded his mother Queen Victoria in 1901 at the age of 59. He'd waited all those decades to take the throne, and Charles has waited even longer. Edward died nine years later in 1910 at 68--five years younger than Charles is now; it'll be interesting to see how long Charles lasts. To equal Edward's reign, he'd have to make it to age 82.
Edward VIII let a very dissolute life and was overweight and suffered from bronchitis. His life style was not good he smoked and drank too much with little exercise. Charles on the other hand is mindful of his health and is fit for his age. Hopefully he'll live much longer.
There's a big possibility that Charles is not as ambitious as his young-self. Similar with Biden who had decided to leave a quite semi-retired life but then was thrusted into the politics when the country was extremely divided.
Charles, although is undoubtly happy with the coronation, would not be very excited about his new role. After all, with new role comes new responsibilities and he's definitely not young anymore. There's so little of additional physical rewards comes with the role compares to the additional responsibilities.

This country is an embarrasment.

I feel like the time at my workplace when we got a new CEO and he was such a change and really amazing that just one person could change the entire atmosphere at our organization. (And it wasn't too good.) Likewise in the UK people will have to adjust to his ways and his morals, ideas, way of treating people. So far how is he doing and what do people think? He seems a bit irritated with everything.

Judging by the way he reacted to pens, I think he must be a nightmare to work for. Alrighty, then. Good luck with this new guy, UK.
Even in death, Her Majesty The Queen still had to play her role as a deceased monarch, being moved/paraded around, before she could have a proper rest at last. Lord knows that's a hard job and one that she'd done so well for so very long.
I really remembered princess Diana, and I wish she could have been the one staying by the new king’s right hand side, the world will feel her positive impact more, but destiny brought some one else. Rest in peace my process.
Camilla better then diana...

I just feel awful for Charles , he has lost his mother and has no time to grieve. If you were any kind of job they would give you compassionate leave for the death of your mother. I think all of this could of waited a week. The UK is not going to fall apart in a week , he would still be king just not "officially" .It is cruel and inhumane in my opinion to make anyone do this.
He should have been very well prepared for this situation psychologically
@@lanjian45 l think nothing prepares you for the loss of your mother , my mum has nearly died twice and doctors say she won't last another year l can prepare all l like but when it comes l will devastated
He was probably waiting for his mother to die so he can become the king himself.
It's called shouldering the burden of responsibility, I know it seems odd to young people these days but it's called a show of strength. He will grieve like all people in private. The official mourning period started when the queen died, it would be a bit odd if Charles didn't partake in the funeral or lead the mourning of the public. The coronation will take place after about a year, this now is the equivalent of the surviving relative doing the paperwork upon the death of his parents.
Life goes on the world is not stop spinning after the queen left

Interesting how people notice King Charles' behavior about the ink. His Majesty is still human . . . and it's human factor to behave in certain ways. Long live the King! 🇬🇧 💐🇵🇭
So he doesn't like clutter....can't fault him for that.
I'm saddened by the death of Her Majesty. Queen Elizabeth II was a woman for all times due to her dignity, integrity, and dedication. I would say she was the ultimate feminist and she managed it all so adroitly for such a long time! God bless her and the memory of Prince Philip, and God save King Charles III.
Beautifully said
The ultimate feminist? Honestly what total sycophantic nonsense. The Queen used her massive privilege and opportunity to maintain her families wealth and position, not to further womens rights. Lizzy did sweet fa for the people. You serf if you want to.

Why do people think they can dictate what HM King Charles III can do or not do?? He's KING! If he wishes to talk to people, get involved in a matter as it pertains to his kingdom or if he wants to change something about how his kingdom is run for the good of his people, surely HM doesn't need anyone's permission, right? I mean I know there's a constitution to consider but under such a system if everyone's voice matters, then why does HM have to hold his tongue in matters of state when HM is the head of state? I often wondered how HM the Queen was able to live under such rigidness, it must have been exhausting.
Interesting news coverage, rather informative about the things going on in England.
