    Can confirm that the BestBuy Geek Squad protection does indeed cover burn-in/image retention. I had the 5 year plan on my 2016 LG OLED C6P that started to go bad in the center of the display and at the end of additional warranty timeframe I upgraded through the protection plan to a 2021 LG OLED C1. Paid the difference in the cost of the 2 displays so I was only out about $400 and I got a massive increase in brightness and a bump in screen size.

      @DasTechGuy Před 10 měsíci +4

      @@paws315 I gamed on it for basically the entire 5 years using XBOX One X, a PS4 Pro, and a PC. Had no complaints at all for the gaming experience.
      The burn-in actually started from Assassin’s Creed Origins given how insane the brightness for the HDR was in that game at times. To that end, it was in the middle of the display and unless you had a orange-ish/yellow-ish color around the middle of the display it wasn’t really that obvious to see. I noticed it but if you were to ask my wife she would have been oblivious.

      @@DasTechGuy thanks! Odyssey was on my backlog, now I'm second guessing it. Is HDR even worth it 🤔

    • @DasTechGuy
      @DasTechGuy Před 10 měsíci

      @@paws315 Oh absolutely! HDR is a game changer! To clarify, I ran AC: Origins within the first couple hundred of hours of run time on the display. Those first few hundred hrs are super crucial for settling the panel and it is far more susceptible to burn-in. After about 300 hrs or so, the OLED panel will have settled and will be far less susceptible to things going bad quickly. Not saying it’s then completely safe but so long as you don’t have the brightness completely cranked to 100% and leave a static image on-screen for 20+ minutes without any interaction at all your chances for severe burn-in is lessened considerably.
      LG made a ton advances for the display panel in later models and from the 2019 models on the risk for burn-in keeps getting less and less even from the get-go.

    I'm looking for some advice now that I'm planning on buying a new TV, I have found some black Friday offers where I can get either Sony A80L 65", LG C3 77" or Samsung S95C 65" for roughly the same price (~2 180 Euro). I'm mainly watching series and movies via streaming services and the sofa is slightly more than 3m away from the TV. Before starting the research I was leaning towards getting a Sony as I have enjoyed previous year's version of that TV. You might have to deal with some software quirks here and there - the C3 would give you a more polished software experience and probably more accurate colours OOTB but you have a risk of getting a panel with some uniformity issues like banding or pink tint - that's the reason I would go with QD-Oled but if you only watch with ambient light present, it's probably not gonna be noticeable.

Is this particularly for 24fps content, or is it just overall? I tend to run my displays with all motion processing off; so wondering if all 3 manufacturer would be on about the same level regarding native OLED motion performance.
    Also, even with all motion processing turned off, is there some proprietary base motion processing going on which differentiate them at the most basic level? Like watching a rock-solid 60fps broadcast..shouldn't they look about the same with absolutely no motion processing on?

I tried it out on shows that supported it, like LOTR and Obi-Wan. It does make a noticeable difference. I actually kept the Sony over the Samsung and that was a big factor. The S95B had some really vibrant color and such, but in the dark scenes with lightsabers in Obi-Wan, it was clearly a noticeably worse image overall with a lot of detail lost in the dark and some wacky things going on. So many caveats with each TV. C3 loses lighting during game mode. C3 apparently has very noticeable color banding in game mode. C3 has worse color uniformity, but a polarized screen which looks black in all conditions. C3’s screen will look like a mirror in some conditions. S90C will have very obvious macro blocking and artifacts when streaming or using low bitrate content. S90C has the sluggish menu and apparently less color accuracy. S90C may have raised black levels in ambient lighting like a CRT. A80L has lower input lag and aggressive ABL. Do you get the S90C for the insane pop and wow factor when gaming? Or the C3 for a better overall picture when streaming and less frustrating software? It’s like Sophie’s Choice trying to pick a mid-range OLED for me.

    S94bd? Is that worth a look? I was about to pick up an s95b but this looks the same. Vincent, any news on this model?

      It’s an S95B,But for BestBuy. As the Sony advisor at my bestbuy near me, I have discussed this with our Samsung advisor. Says the S94BD is essentially the S90C/S95C. He says 1599 plus a 300 gift card is a no brainer. Says the dumb one connect box and the few extra speakers on back are the only difference from 95B to 95C. Says those aren’t worth an extra 1400 at all.

    If you ever got a US sponsor for TV calibration, that would be amazing, though i realize how difficult that would be.

    Sony A80l OLED 65inch or Samsung S90c QD OLED 65inch which is the best tv please tell me

      Not confusing at all. Samsung has the highest brightness but not as good color accuracy, motion and upscaling compared to Sony. Sony also has better speakers. If you value gaming due to low input lag and high brightness, choose Samsung otherwise go with Sony

    Did you figure out how to disable TPC and GSR on the LG 2023 OLEDs?

      He mentioned in another video, that LG pushed an update which fixed the TPC from dimming HDR scenes. But, didn't sound like you could disable it entirely.

    Would you get the 77” A80L or 77” S90C. Usage is 40% 4K streaming, 30% SDR sports streaming through FuboTV and 30% PS5 gaming. Tv will be in a basement with complete light control.

      It probably won’t be unfortunately. However, I haven’t noticed the screen dimming some people talk about on the C2. Granted I use SDR 95% of the time, so maybe that plays into this. Regardless, even compared to a “much brighter” samsung qled I had this tv is definitely not dim. In low light viewing it can even seem too bright at times. Only two complaints are that due to OLED panel refresh rates in general, when streaming 24fps movies, there is minimal stutter in panning shots unless I turn up the motion settings to where soap opera effect happens. And 2nd…that the screen doesn’t handle reflections all that well, but that’s due to it being glossy which is better for PQ. Sort of a trade off and I’d rather it be this way anyhow.
