- Amanda had her first taste of the addictive power of cigarettes when she was in elementary school. In her 11-year-old mind, smoking seemed OK. After all, some of her family members smoked, so she tried it herself-and she soon became a regular smoker. In this video from CDC's Tips From Former Smokers campaign, Amanda talks about the pain that smoking brought to her family.

I quit smoking almost a month ago it's been hard but I refuse to go back. My bf still smokes so it's hard
Daddy smoked since he was 8. Daddy died of COPD diabetes cancer colon. He was still smoking on oxygen. Daddy was 6'1. When daddy died he shrank to 5'3!!! I'm his daughter and I'm 5'6. U can't even imagine looking down at your dad. He was 65 pounds. He was 73. Don't smoke. I never have. Never will. I miss my dad😭😭😭😭😭😭

Like, even though smoking runs in the family, you've triumphed over them ciggies. You go, girl!
I thought since she is so beautiful, she must be an actress. No, she is not and her story is heart rending. I quit nine years ago, and I guess I need to be reminded why I quit. And for that I have to thank her. My cousin has stage four lung cancer, and it's just a matter of time.

I encourage you to advocate to change laws in your local community. Unfortunately, there are federal laws protecting the tobacco industry though they still have to abide by certain rules that vary by state. Look into a local coalition, the community's voice is the driving force to change.

Smoking is a prohibition cause if I were you I would not continue smoking for ahead of times I agree with you Amanda I have my aunt that lives here she smokes ahead of times but she's trying to quit I have hopes for you Amanda with that being said you are a bravery person I'm sorry about your child causes of all this but sometimes people learn from there mistakes but now that you know your changed woman I'm glad you stop smoking smoking is not worth it it's a waste of money for everything that messed up everyone lives for
Sometimes it doesn't have to be this way thou it's hard to quit and get back on your own two feet but you still have fight in you never back down

seen people with no legs still smoking, they are still going to smoke.
That's one of the lesser known effects of smoking; it can cause gangrene, which can require amputations.
Smokers: ''Ahh i don't need to quit, it is not like i am getting sick or anything'' *gets diagnosed with cancer or another form of illness due to smoking* Smoker: ''well the damage has been done now, why should i quit? I am sick already anyways.''

Michael A. Orlando prob not. Stage 4 is the last stage of any illness. U don't get better. My dad had same. He was 6'1. He died 5'3. I'm 5'6. I'm his daughter. Pls never smoke. I never will. I miss my dad. 😭😭😭😭😭

Frank Bracken just realize u are living still dear friend. Just take it slow start walking before dinner. Just slowly to the end of the block and back. Every day. U will feel better sleep better and in time walk even more! I'm proud of u. U are not dead. U r fantastic💖
Frank Bracken Yeah but it doesn't help smoking. I have allergies and eye prob due to mama smoking. She stopped when pregnant with me at five months. But the damage is done. I have these prob all my life. No smoke give your child a fighting chance. I never have. All my kids heath are great.
