  • Severe fear of heights, late 40's, and bad knees/ankles make for a challenge. If you want to get right to the scary stuff 19:30 is the rungs and 23:30 is my height moment. 34:00 is fun as well.

    During the summer the falcons nest and the trail is CLOSED. Be certain to check with the park service ahead of your trip planning so you won't be disappointed.

    This is the best Precipice Trail video on CZcams. I know that physically I could do it but mentally: nope. I’m out. I’d fall off just from fright. Back in the 60’s my parents climbed it on their honeymoon having no idea what they were getting in to. Makes for a funny story still today 😅

    As someone with a huge fear of heights, I understand that this was no easy feat. Power to you man, I only hope to be able to conquer my own fears so gracefully. A truly beautiful landscape though.

    • @t80mitchell
      @t80mitchell  Před 4 lety

      Some of the boulder scramble is edited out. Of course it excludes the hike down. Some people are up in under 30 minutes without it being busy, some take an hour.

    Best Precipice Trail video I’ve seen! Well done! I kind of want to do this when I travel to Acadia this coming October, but as a solo hiker, I’m concerned that isn’t such a smart thing to do in case of injury. What would be your thoughts?

    • @t80mitchell
      @t80mitchell  Před rokem +1

      You won't be alone. This isn't a wilderness type trail with nobody in sight. It is quite popular and short enough where you'll encounter people.

    • @t80mitchell
      @t80mitchell  Před 6 lety +1

    • @t80mitchell
      @t80mitchell  Před 7 lety +3

      Sorry for the delay, I was actually on another vacation! The climb up should be treated as one-way. The trail down is off the backside and depending on which way you go shouldn't have any rungs. Down is a walking trail.

    Would you consider this trail scarier than Beehive? I did Beehive and it was pretty scary to me.

    • @t80mitchell
      @t80mitchell  Před 2 lety +1

      I actually felt the same about the Beehive. Most of the Precipice I believe the focus was on the ladders and rails. There were only a couple locations I was anxious about. If you did the Beehive I'm confident you can do the Precipice with maybe a tad more anxiety.

    I saw the video...your wife has clearly some movement problem (not to be mean but is just the truth)...now the hike at the end was not so difficult and thats good but the test was not passed and that needed at least some consideration about the continuing...i dont know your channel but my idvise is not to bring your wife into climbing route also considering the fact that descending is always more demanding than climbing up and what looks easy then become a problem.
