  • #AcadiaNationalPark is the first national park east of the Mississippi and includes dozens of mountains, including the highest points in the U.S. Atlantic coast. Acadia National Park is definitely one of the smaller national parks, but it packs a ton of adventure covering most of Mt. Desert Island off the coast of Maine. If you're planning a trip, here's our list of the Top 10 Things To Do in Acadia National Park:
    1. Climbing the Precipice Trail
    2. Thunder Hole
    3. Bar Island
    4. Kayak in Frenchman Bay
    5. Historic Carriage Roads
    6. Jordan Pond and House
    7. Cadillac Mountain
    8. The Greathead Trail
    9. Acadia National Park's 27-mile loop road
    10. Acadia's one of the most dog-friendly national parks in the U.S. Take advantage of that and take your pup on the hiking trail
We started hiking at Sand Beach which is one of the most popular spots in the park. This oceanside hike winds its way through evergreen forest and it’s a little bit of a climb to get to the top of the cliffs. We then head to the coast of Maine to explore Frenchman Bay on sea kayaks. Frenchman Bay is a deep water inlet that lies between the mainland and Mount Desert Island. We check out Bar Island. Bar Island got its name from the sand bar that appears during low tide. You can walk across it to explore the island, but you gotta be quick because low tide only lasts about an hour and a half. We then head to one of the tallest peaks in the park - Champlain Mountain - hiking the Precipice Trail.

We were able to do a good chunk of the list, though I regret not having enough time for the Precipice Trail. It looked like a rewarding hike for sure, paying off the hard work with that great view of the Atlantic.

If you get another opportunity to road trip back to Acadia, I definitely recommend the Precipice Trail. It truly is rewarding when you make it to the top, just be careful with any loose railings

Acadia was a great national park last year! Hey, if you guys ever branch out into some of the more prominent state parks, Baxter State Park in Maine is every bit as epic as any given US national park. It has a huge land area in arguably one of the most remote locations east of the midwest; also it has the northern terminus of the Appalachian Nat. Scenic Trail at the rugged Katahdin mtn. I try to catch most all episodes, but I might have missed one if you covered Baxter already.

Hey Ryan, these are great tips! Thank you so much for that. I don't think we've have the opportunity to stop at Baxter State Park. We've been mulling over filming locations for our 7th season, so I'll make sure to bring those topics up with the rest of the team. Thank you for being a loyal fan. I really appreciate it. Also, I really like the idea about the Appalachian Nat Scenic Trail! Let us know if you have any other suggestions!

Is your video from this Aug- or were you there earlier and uploaded it now- i ask because we are planning something to see fall colors but i already saw some colors in your video and would like to visit acadia sooner rather than later :)

      @RockTheParkOfficial  Před 4 lety +2

Hi Supriya, I'm glad you asked. These shots were filmed earlier but you're in luck because Fall foliage generally peaks between October 13-22 in Acadia NP. But keep in mind that dates vary from year to year. I recommend checking out www.mainefoliage.com to research current conditions and weekly reports :)

Moose and bear are present on the Schoodic Peninsula, but are only infrequent visitors to Mount Desert Island. Other, more elusive species like bobcats and fishers live in the park, but are rarely seen

Sorry for that. The last thing we intended to do is disturb wildlife. Good feedback though ✌️
