In this video art lesson I cover how to paint thunderstorm clouds with lightning. I show you how to blend a range of cool colors into warm colors in this dramatic landscape painting. I used various paint brushes which I cover throughout the video lesson.
    Materials used:
    - Golden fluid acrylic paint (titanium white, carbon black, primary cyan, light blue permanent (liquitex), quinacridone red, cadmium orange)
    - Water for mixing into the paints (thinning) and washing brushes
    - 16x20" stretched canvas
    About the painting:
I love exploring the wide open range land. Whether it's the great plains area or a sweeping sagebrush valley between mountain ranges, I'm always inspired by these areas. When a storm like this rolls across the wide open land, it's a sight that is rarely forgotten.

Hi! My name is Robert. I am 67 y/o and am a beginner painter. Most of my life I have dreamed of being a painter. But, I could NEVER see me as an artist. But, through watching you paint it makes me feel uplifted.
All I can do is practice. Thank you for all that you do. Do your ideas come off the top of your head or is it inspired by photos? You are the BEST!!!
    God bless,
    Robert

2023. 02... Thank you, Chuck, for your help in reacquainting myself to painting on canvas. I have not painted on a small canvas since I was a teenager, and now I am...well, older than dirt. Acrylic is a new canvas medium, and I love that you also use other mediums and oil. The results are fabulous. Have a great day, everyone.

Seriously this is inspiring and im not just saying that. This has taught me that the only thing you can do in life is the skills that you were meant to use . Yeah it may not be perfect right now but each time you do these things your craft just gets better. And im talking about myself here because your art its fantastic. Its investing that time . Id sooner be doing these kinds of things than just having a job.
