- Hello beautiful little things! In this vlog I show you the process of designing wrapping paper, tape and stickers to package my second picture book (launching in late sept)! Rocket the true MVP builds me a set of shelves to match my studio table and we make a fugly as heck cake for Nate's birthday - tbh I think it's fugly-cute (in a kitschy kind of way) hehe! Hey Sha'an! For transparency when the printer can only do one color, try a Bitmap! It basically makes your shades into a screen tone. Super useful :D

Yes this! It’s basically the same concept you were using but it’s a fine dot pattern (halftones) like old comic strips and junk (also what screen printers use) 👌

Yes AND you can always make your own custom halftone pattern too babe! So you can import your hash marks you drew as a pattern. That seems much more up your alley to have the genuine hand drawn texture but be able to turn those layers into it much quicker! Especially great for the “maybe I don’t like that actually” moment haha always good to get there faster

If Rocket designed flat-pack furniture, that would be my whole apartment. The shelves are the COOLEST! I love how you could even use the bottom shelf as a second desk. The studio is looking great!

At first i wasn't really into vlogs of any kind, but I was really glad that you tube decided to recommend your channel and videos to my feed (a few years back) and i have been hooked ever since. I realized through your vids that the art industry is really multi faceted, and has different levels and type of work involved. I could go on but that would make an entire essay. What im trying to say is you are a great inspiration to artists all over especially to those who are unable to (life happens 😂) get an art related profession.

Using texture to solve the transparency problem was so clever! It looked really good :)
I find it so amusing that the background noise/ambience/appliance humming during Shan's baking session makes the whole experience so intense to watch 😂 I guess it's like your household gadgets making the humming noise? It almost feels like an interrogation scene in a film 👽😄
I think it was my oven! But there is also sometimes humming because my studio is nead a wood mill heheh
the thing you said about feeling full after watching your videos, I never feel more inspired than after watching shaman videos, in fact sometimes I rewatch them just to get more inspired

QUESTION: How did you get freelance work when you first started? (which website/ source?) ilysm!
She got signed on with a rep and companies reached out to her. She talks about it in a lot of Q&A's because it's a frequently asked question
I actually didn't sign to a rep but you're right, many of my clients reach out to me after seeing my work on my website or on IG! When I first started I emailed a couple of people and they actually responded with work so that is what I recommend if you don't have an audience, rep or know people in the industry. Have a bunch of work ready on a site or in a pdf and reach out to people you'd like to work with. There's no harm and casting a line and seeing what bites!

For the mesh you could save as a pattern and then use paint bucket to fill in objects :)
Yes!! The problem I faced was that the way I created the vector works made it difficult to overlay any sort of pattern. HOWEVER I didn't think to scrap the internal colour and use the lines to fill the space! I should have done that!!! Thank you for sharing!!
