Oh hey there little bean, watcha doing all the way down here?
Those of us who just graduated high school in 1977 are giggling about your comments "There was colour photography back then right?" The word old being used a lot lol. I believe I had that set which has long since been buried under a mile of garbage at the dump. Love crayons still! Thanks for the memories!
Yep and the “they had pencils in the oldendays, right?” 😂❤
Bahahah!!!! Every one of you is a beautiful precious relic! Just like me (by being online's standards goes)!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Watching you get excited over the crayons is the most wholesome thing I've ever seen!
Love this!!!
P. S. If you save your shavings and sort them by color you can melt them down and mold them. Into new crayons! 😊 Extending the lifespan hehe
Omg mystery crayon!!! I'll do that!!!
@@furrylittlepeach Yey! Exciting! 😍
My elementary school's mascot was a crayon! The support columns in front of the building were giant crayons!! Haha you would love it, love ur enthusiasm 😁
Not me being born in 1975 finding out that I’m older than an “actual relic”👵🏼 No worries, Sha’an. It’s fine, I’m fine, seriously! I’m not crying, it’s just been raining on my very elderly vintage antique face.
HAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHA
P.s antique is over 100 years old - we ain't there yet ;-)
P.p.s and yes I had to look it up!!!!
red is the last colour to fade! That's why old colour photographs often are tinged red; the other colours have all faded.
Sha'an's reaction in the mirror is GENIUS! Stealing this idea for future video ideas
In art uni there was a packaging course taught by a specific professor who had the students redesign the packaging for crayola! I didn’t have that professor so I didn’t get to do it but I would’ve really loved it and I think you would’ve too hehe 🌈
the current 64 pack of crayolas has a plastic sharpener too! i looove the photo on the box and very very thorough copy on the inside haha. thanks for sharing this with us!
I love that you kept turning to the camera and we could see you turning in the mirror LMAOO! I LOVE YOUR UPLOADS ALWAYS ❤
The older version of red is Red the other is lighter...I do not know when I started watching OMy! Best 2024 to you and your Family too!
Omg I just found a set from 1990 in a thrift shop (after looking online it was originally manufactured in 1991) and it had a mulberry crayon in it! I haven’t tried them out yet so thank you for the inspiration ❤
Omg, I have those around 50,they are so good for mix media and it doesn't get old or dry, the wax they used then is immortal! It's usable for artists!!!! I used them a lot with Chinese markers and acrylics:) Thank you so much for this video!
Ooooo nice idea!! Would loook so striking with black ink on top!!!
I love how excited you were getting about the concept of crayons being invented! Your joy is infectious
So many memories!! Thanks. This was the classic birthday party gift at the time in the US.
Such a fun fact. I've actually become obsessed with the history of Crayola so knowing this about where it sits culturally amongst kids at the time is so interesting to me!
This reminds me of the girl who collects the discontinued Dandelion yellow on tiktok!!!
Omg nate told me about this literally an hour ago!!!
She has a whole shrineeee for it hahaha
I hadn't heard of her till today! Do you know her name???
@@furrylittlepeachomg i thought i replied to this but its LaKenzie! @/_lakenzo_
This was exactly the right video for this frantic holiday morning. Thank you!
crayola is just such a pinnacle of childhood, and just seeing this box fills me up with happy art memories of just drawing and not caring if its perfect or not! Also it made waiting in restaurants as a kid so much more enjoyable haha! The colors are still so vibrant 50 years later, thats crazy! Thank you for this little jump in time
This one was phenomenal ✨so much fun
I love how nerdy you about the company and everything! I grew up and still live just an hour away from the Crayola Factory in Pennsylvania! Going there on school field trips was a staple for everyone! Now I get to take my own kids and it’s even more fun 😊 You get to make and name your own crayon!
Suuuuuuchhhh a cute video i love itttt, all the 70s branding is so cute gahhh
Peach, if you love learning about how small businesses become global brands, check out the podcast, How I Built This. It’s a U.S.-based show so it skews towards American companies and brands but so fascinating to hear the stories of how all kinds of tiny businesses became household names 😊
Hot tip 🔥🔥🔥🔥 thank you sweet peaa
new fav video by u:) i also love when u draw w rocket :D y’all r awesome sending love!
Thank you for keeping me company and brightening up some lower days in 2023 Sha'an! I hope you have a very Happy Holidays and a great New Year. Looking forward to seeing you in 2024!! Wishing you absolutely all the best xxxxx 💛🌟
(I can't believe how long I've been watching furrylittlepeach now that you've mentioned it?!)
K, love this cute little history lesson
Super old! I was born in 1975! I am a little old, but not "super old"! Really!! I guess I'm giggling like Cheryl says, but still . . .
Good gracious I love this video. I've got a few really old art supplies and the joy that comes from 1. Finding them 2. Opening them 3. Testing them and 4. Playing with them is unrivaled. Thank you so much for sharing this with us. Your videos are always so charming and really add a bright spot to my day 💚
I had one of those crayon sorters. ( I was a kid in the 80s ). I don't know why it was just one though. The best I can remember ( I am old after all ) it looked just like that. So fun to see you exploring this crayon set. I love your channel and always look forward to seeing what you're doing whether it's your creative endeavors or traveling. Happy Holidays and Happy New Year, Sha'an!
Wow. Amazing video 😊😊😊
Love this, Sha’an. The history and origin stories are always so fascinating. I love me some vintage crayolas!! Also, fluent French speaker here, the pronunciation of “craie” is in fact “crei”, similar soft sound as in the “cre-“ in the word “crate”. So no emphasis on the “ah” sound so much but the initial invisible “chre-“ sound before you fully let out the letter “r” and “a” in “crate”. So not “cray” as in “crayons” or “crayola”, as we have all so fondly grown familiar with saying it. In French, the letter combo of “aie” produces more of a “eh” sound rather than “a” sound. Hope that makes sense. X
Rocket's cackle at the end 😆
This is the wholesome video I needed, thanks for sharing ❤
❤ very interesting Sha'an. I had two vintage sets of crayons and neither of them would produce any colour on the page. It was like drawing with clear wax even though they still looked vibrant. It was a bizarre experience.
As far as pink...that's tricky. I decided to put it between red and purple since pinks lean red or violet. My watercolour palettes are always in the same order...yellows, oranges, reds, pinks, purples, blues, greens, earth toned neutrals from light to dark followed by Grey's, blacks and finally metallic. My studio set is roughly 300 colours 😂 it's madness but absolutely glorious to work with 💛❤️💙
Interesting! Since then i've been thimking they were still so bright becaude they were kept inside the crayon box AND the drawing set box? Double boxed with no light for all these years???
@@furrylittlepeach You may be right about light and environmental effects. One of my sets was still sealed but the other was lightly used. I've been wondering if mine were kept in some kind of storage facility that had no temperature control. Going back from heat and cold can mess with the pigment in paints. 🤷♀It was a bit of a bummer. I bought a set of vintage kids watercolours from the 1930s during the pandemic and those were slow to activate but still had colour. Oh and the original brush! I love watching vintage art supply videos 💛❤💙 Thank you so much for sharing this!
I’ve been experimenting a lot with oil pastels and wax sticks and this makes me want to go to the thrift store and try to find some ✨crayons✨
I loved hearing you say "30 years ago" to refer to the 1970s because I do that too... unfortunately it's not the early 2000s anymore and I'm getting old too..
i would love to compare the pigment numbers between the 70s set and modern set
How do we do that!!!!
omg I looove these so much! the project book is so cute, obsessed!
Oof, i remember my big pack from when i was a little! I loved reading the names! Periwinkle is my girl!!!😂❤
I love reading the names too!!!! 🤩🤩🤩❤️❤️❤️
big love and squish! n_n
I have a small set of vintage crayola crayons in a small red box. They say washable on them too. I let my daughter draw with them. I suspect they are from the 70s or 80s
Omg red box!!! I'll need to google that to see it - i've never seen one before!!!
@@furrylittlepeach and it has a “copper” crayon! It looks green until you color with it and then it makes kinda a browned bronze color. It’s very interesting 🧐

@@furrylittlepeach I think they are from the 50s now that I’ve done my research, maybe we shouldn’t be coloring with them 😂
i love this 🤍😍
I have a box of over 40 crayola crayons that were from my grandma and I need to see what colors are discontinued to see if i have any (new sidequest aquired, idk the year tho cus the packaging is not original)
I love vintage art materials and packaging 😍 I'm excited to get a closer look in the blog!
(Also I'm presuming the Daiso video has so many views because myself and everyone else who went to Japan this year re-watched it to see if there was anything worth getting 😂)
Edit: Did you find out which discontinued ones you got? I love the mulberry crayon
I forgot to check all of them. I'll make sure to do that and add it to the blog post. Thanks for reminding - i'll set the blogpost to public tomorrow if it isn't already public :-)
@@furrylittlepeach Ooooh exciting ✨ Thank you! Now go to sleep! 😱🌙
Crayola's large box (64 or 92 crayons) have a built in sharpener on the back of the box. Have you seen that?
this is AMAZING ❤❤❤
This is a delightful video just had eye surgery and my vision isn’t fixing but the colours are so vibrant so thank you alsooo Happpppy holidayssss
I guess the wrappers weren't that dark originally, the paper may have darkened by slowly absorbing the wax from the crayon? They seem lighter on a photo in a brochure.
Omg trueeeeee
They need to make the crayon holders again...

I'm a relic too!!!! A relic on the internet 😈😈😈😈😈 i say it all the time 🫂
I love watching younger generations discover music, movies, and the STUFF I grew up with. Makes me smile :) @@furrylittlepeach
This was so relaxing. Love it. I don’t use crayons, should I try? I used to not like the smell as the kid so it brushed me off them
I like crayons because the stakes seem so low. Like theres no pressure to make something great - the freedom I get from that really makes for a more fun process. In short: yes! Try em! Light a candle near by so the smell doesnt bother you ;-)
@@furrylittlepeach ended up getting a pack of 64 to try:)
1977 was the year my parents got married
I had Crayola crayons. Crayons were invented in 1903.
what camera do you use in these videos!
These sit down videos are often shot on a black magic camera
However "relic" seems to be an extreme adjective.
I think I just mean in the context of kids art supplies - i dont get how something that isn't typically made to last longer than a childhood is still around 50 years later!! Not in the context of people hahahah
As someone who was born in 77 I feel conflicted HAHAHA 🙃😆
You're a relic! A beautiful precious relic!!! 🫂
