    I LOVE this so much. You don't know how much Smallville helped me out during the years it aired. I was deployed 6 times 2002-2013 2x Afghanistan,2x Iraq, 1x Kosovo ect. It gave me an escape from some of the worst days of my life. I knew I could count on Smallville to flip my frown upside down and make my day better. The entire cast will always have a special place in my heart. Now rewatching all the episodes with Michael, Tom and Ryan it's been a rollercoaster of emotion being revisited. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for doing this, it really means so much.

    I thought the kitchen scene between Clark and Lana was bittersweet because with Lana saying sometimes the right person is right in front of you, she is indirectly admitting that she has feelings for Clark added with her answering Clark's questions about Whitney with pauses and with a sense of disbelief and doubt. Whereas in the second scene with Clark and Lana, Clark indirectly confesses that he regrets not being in a relationship with her, despite him claiming to have suddenly sparked feelings for Chloe 😭

    "Crush" is an absolutely fantastic episode. It's definitely one of my favourite episodes from season one. The kitchen scene with Clark and Lana, and the scene in the Talon where Clark says to Lana "I let that moment slip away, and I don't think I will ever get it back. Then the way that Lana looks at Clark, and he then says "I don't want to make that same mistake twice", and the way she looks at Clark and smiles as the scene ends, just makes that scene between them so perfect, and you can tell from their body language they are both into each other. The best scene in the whole episode is definitely the funeral scene. Such a great scene with no dialogue, and "Time after time" sung by Eva Casidy, playing throughout the scene, as Clark and Lana look over at each other in the pouring rain, and chloe glances over looking upset knowing from the way Clark and Lana are looking at each, that they have feelings for each other, and then Clark turns and walks away in slow motion as the scene ends. Wonderful scene. Definitely a perfect way to end the episode. I also love the previous scene where Clark and Chloe are sitting at the table, and Clark reaches over and holds Chloe's hand, and Lana is looking at them looking slightly upset just as Whitney walks in, and Lana walks over to him saying "We need to talk" as he stands their almost in tears saying "It's my dad." A fantastic episode which I am going to give 🌹🌹🌹

    Justin as a villain really hit me hard this watch-around; I, too, recently lost something that was an intrinsic part of my identity and I've struggled to try and put myself back together and figure out what I am. Tom's line about how Justin doesn't care about the telekinesis, he just wants his original talent back, really summed up exactly how I have been feeling in a lot of ways. I thought the actor for Justin did a really great (and creepy) job!

    The funeral scene is hands down one the most beautiful scene of the series. Beautiful chemistry between Clark and Lana, their feelings for each others couldn't be more obvious. Tom & Michael describing Whitney & Lana's relationship was hilarious and so true "he just a pain in the ass" "she's in a relationship that she'd like to foh" 😂.I also liked that we got to learn more about Lex past and saw his vulnerable side. Justin was a great FOTW interesting character, Adam brody was really good and he had chemistry with Chloe they could've been great together. I agree with Michael Chloe and Clark don't have romantic chemistry, it would've been weird to see them as a couple. And if you have to force a guy to pay attention to you and see you in a romantic way well... Their friendship was amazing tho. Great episode 🌹🌹

      As for Whitney Lana somehow got with him as she was popular I suppose and he was not as bad as the character could have been he wasn’t one dimensional but he w also was annoying just because we want her with Clark she fell out of love with Whitney or realised it wasn’t really love maybe she just settled she would have jumped at Clark if he asked

    One of my favorite episodes of the season... I can honestly say that I can relate to Clark a lot on this episode... This is when the "girl trying to make Clark jealous" starts lol... Loved the villain in this episode... Adam Brody did a great job... One of my favorite scenes is the big brother-little brother convo that Lex and Clark have about women... Underrated scene... We also see Lana being jealous of Clark and Chloe's relationship blossoming... Of course, any Lionel scene is great!!!... This episode also had some horror elements to it, especially in the beginning of the episode with what happened to my man's doctor... The principal, who couldn't catch a break from the beginning of the season, gets taken out and the twist of his son being the one to hit Justin... We really see Clark and Chloe's relationship evolving... And I will say that Clark not picking up on Chloe liking him, there is an Easter Egg in the next episode that tells the reason why (and that's all I'm gonna say 😉)... Here's when I can super relate to Clark when he's trying to warn Chloe about Justin and of course, she wasn't trying to hear it lol... She does make a valid point about how Lana and Lex take up most of his time so that's understandable... This episode was dark, which is good... Also, I love the story of Lex's nanny showing up out of the blue and Lex (rightfully so) being cool on her because she dipsetted... Of course, we find out why... Whitney's Dad dying tugged on my heartstrings a little bit... This episode as a whole gets 🌹🌹(2 roses) from me 👍🏾👍🏾... #LoveThePodcastFellas #IAlwaysLookForwardToTalkvilleWednesdays

    I also find it hilarious that the relationship advice book clark was reading is called "Men Are From Mars" the title would play on the old idea that it seems like people of the opposite sex are from another planet, however Clark really is from another planet. It's a funny nod. Btw thanks for doing this podcast. As a kid when this came out I never watched because I wanted to see clark kent as superman. As an adult now watching I see what I was missing out was, and seeing you guys perspective on it is a great, and rare opportunity.

    GLEN!!! Thank you so much for getting Glen Winter on for a chat. I'm in awe of Glen. I've loved watching him climb up and up and up in his career since Smallville. I get a quiet thrill when I see his name in the credits of a show I'm watching and I KNOW it will be good. LOVED listening to his anecdotes and insights. The funeral scene was my favourite scene also, the music, the lighting and the angst filled eye contact between the characters...awesome. Thank you so much for another great podcast, Wednesday made...hump day AND Talk Ville day!

    I think Clark acted on Chloe for a quick minute because he was pining for a relationship but was never actually in love with her. He just took an opportunity that Chloe was giving him since she had feelings and obviously that didn’t end up lasting long. I agree they make a better friendship than couple. Chloe has that side kick energy about her! ❤

    Pamela: "The fact that you're here speaks volumes about the man that you are". Scene when Lex visited Pamela in hospital was so touching.❤When he lost his mother, Pamela was the mother figure for him, so it's understandable that he was deeply hurted when she left. But, the most beautiful thing is that Lex still loves her. Chemistry was incredible. Pamela ( Donna) is a beauty, i must say. This episode was excellent. This is example of great Freak of the week episode. Adam was very good and I liked his scenes with Allison. Also, last Kwan episode, with big secret reveal. The last scene at Whitney's dad funeral was very sad, with beautiful cover of "Time after Time". Ooooo, Glen Winter🙂 very nice. I enjoy guest segment of Talk Ville.

    That last sequence in the rain is just gorgeous, I love all the subtle emotions along with the elegant, beautiful scene - Whitney's mother and Whitney are grieving, Lana needs to support Whitney at this difficult time even though she wants to leave him, Clark is looking at Lana, longing to be with her, and Chloe is nudging Clark along to leave, trying to get Clark away from Lana. At the end, while Lana glances at Clark as she leaves, an angel is hovering behind Clark, and his destiny as Superman is shown to loom over him ultimately, the final shot of him is alone here, and it's the inevitable conclusion despite what's going on around him at the time. That whole part is masterful.
    I'm not surprised the principal died, the first principal also dies in Buffy: The Vampire Slayer, and this show takes a lot of inspiration from there. I always admired how this show never made Clark and Chloe a couple, I feel like a lesser show could've done this for a fun storyline to spice a long-running series up, but Clark never had that kind of interest in Chloe and it never felt like his character should.

    15:20 the bittersweet kitchen scene with Clark and Lana when Lana asked Clark about Chloe hanging with Justin when it’s tough to respond and Chloe isn’t actually the one for Clark who can be so dramatic with tease humor when Lana points who the right person is to let go, not exactly the advice looking for and she just didn’t wanna talk more about it when just being polite by steping away respond dozen👍

    In regards to Clark’s wardrobe never being destroyed, it’s because Superman emits a force field from his body a few millimeters.
    That is why his costume is not destroyed normally through fights and Clark’s cloths are usually not damaged.

    • @SpiderboyN2Jesus
      @SpiderboyN2Jesus Před rokem

      Yes, but that only works with his Superman tights. Everyday clothes sit further than a few millimeters from the body. Maybe it would be intact at the point of impact, but the area around it should still be affected.

    • @CassandrashadowcassMorrison
      @CassandrashadowcassMorrison Před rokem +3

      Originally his costume was sewn together by his mother Martha (or Sarah, if you saw the pilot for the 1950s series starring George Reeves) from the Kryptonian blankets he had been wrapped in when his ship crashed and presented to him just before he caught the train for Metropolis and that was what made them indestructible. THEY WEREN'T FROM AROUND HERE.
      Though how Martha (or Sarah) managed to SEW them on her Singer Sewing machine was never explained.

    • @strifenineteen
      @strifenineteen Před rokem +1

      I remember both explanations and always liked the force field one cause it explained 1) why his costume was so tight and 2) because it's just normal cloth Martha could easily make it as opposed to turning a nigh indestructible blanket into an entire outfit

    I loved this episode, I thought Adam Brody was fantastic, he was able to carry a vulnerability, humour and being sinister with such ease. I loved how dark the episode was, I loved the lift scene and Kwan's car, and the chainsaw - how was Chloe not more injured after being thrown around and having a horse shoe thrown at her head? I also liked seeing Clark get thrown (maybe because he had been a bit of a clueless teenage boy throughout 😄). My favourite scene was actually the moment Tom mentioned in The Torch, seeing the reaction of Justin as Clark and Chloe spat. I did find Clark thinking he had feelings for Chloe a bit weird too, it did feel like it came out of nowhere, its always been Lana! I loved that although the villain of the episode was a 'freak' it wasn't focused on, no mention of meteor rocks, no Scooby Doo explanations, so the storytelling felt more natural. It was also great to hear from Glen, I really enjoy hearing stories and the the points of view from other crew members, you guys already do more than enough, but maybe one day, we could have a crew chat episode, where you just celebrate cast and crew, like a reunion chat... I guess that might be hard to get multiple people at once, it just always seems like they have so much more to say, and I want to hear it all 😁 Thanks Rosey, Tom, Ryan and Glen, another brilliant Talk Ville episode ❤

    Yeah I definitely did not ship Clark and Chloe, but I liked to see the relationship “ups and downs” because in high school these type of relationships pop up all the time. They never got together because Clark was head over heels for Lana, and even though Clark loves Chloe, it’s in a pure friendship way, and eventually Chloe gets over it and becomes his closest confidante in life. Hard story. Great story. Great character development and back story. We see later in seasons how Jimmy is a little uneasy about Clark and Chloe, and you really see how they are 100% past it and know they’ll never be more than friends.
