I usually don’t have the patience to watch a game this long without fast forwarding, but my eyes were glued to the screen for every second. That was epic.
I think its pretty easy to say that TheViper is the best current AoE 2 player, his tournament results definitely show that, but DauT's career has been super impressive.
This game was a punching match between the best two AoE 2 players in the world, and was an absolute treat to watch.
I'd say two of the best AoE 2 players, but yeah.
Ive not seen Viper beaten often. But many of the times he has been beaten has been by Daut/Mbl. And most of those are the games that go long like this. Daut and Mbl are next level in post imp
The TTL games that you have uploading here have all been great and top of the line. This one was special because Daut had such a rough start and Viper had such a bad civ and yet the game went on for so long.
I don’t think the teutons are bad per se, but definitely a tough matchup against Mayans

I think Viper has thrown this Game because he thought it was won after dauts horrible start. You See Players lose "Safe" games because of overvonfidence often.

Honestly, I think there’s a moment in every game he plays where he sits back for a second and considers killing his entire pop so he can build a 200 scorpion death ball.
Wow loved this game, so back and forth. Loved Daut’s tenacity and survival tactics, incredible how he played after the rough start
One of the best games I've ever seen!! Happy for Daut, he deserved that! :)

This might have been the best game I’ve ever seen, watched it live on vipers stream, couldn’t believe how well daut played. Insane stuff.
2:02 it's the little things that make the Viper so damn good... here he has his vil collect 10 gold and then lure the boar and deposits the 10 gold at the TC so he doesn't need to do that later if he goes militia
I can't believe DauT let Hoang play on his acc in order to get a win against Viper.

I've been following your stuff for awhile. This was a crackin' match. I loved seeing Viper's rag-tag Teuton army try and fight late game. He did the best with what he could do really.
After watching Vipers perspective in this game it doesn't seem like Teutons pick was a mistake.
His CZcams video does indeed implay he picked teutons himself. He even drafted it
@@pb_powell Even if Daut got to pick Viper's civ for him, it would have had to have been from the civs Viper drafted, so that doesn't (dis)prove anything

I remember in his infantry tier list, Hera gave Mayans an A rank. This game pretty much proves why.
Teutons in long games are weak
Amazing game! Probably the grindiest 1v1 pro game I've ever seen. The only grindier games I can think of are some of the Suomi 3v3s where TheMax magically pulls back a lost position after what feels like three hours

It's a 4v4 nomand Finland (and Viper) vs Asia. They played until there was no wood left. Looking at the video again, I may have misremembered some things, but that means I get to watch it again lol

wtf happened? I was just so clenched on my seat for more than half the game
and here I was just going to watch the video thinking "ok, let's see what we got today" without too much expectations... oh gooooooood! that was just so good, so tense! I have no world to describe it!
Yeah. The sound of T90 is always quite low and i get scared by ads hahaha.
Daut's loss of those 8 villagers early in the game was actually performed really well. He kept them alive for a couple of minutes while they were being chased by pretty much Viper's entire army, so Viper couldn't accomplish anything else with those units that entire time.
Looking at the time duration I thought this was an entire set and game was a typo. What an incredible game!

I do pro audio for a living and I agree that your recent streams / videos are on the lower side of things, your content would really benefit from a more standardized volume level, specially since people use them to sleep or have as background audio, and when the next video or stream comes up the volume is so turned up it melts ears.

Would you agree though that his audio quality is really? I’ve been wondering what his signal chain is, whether he uses any hardware or plugins for EQ and compression and whether he’s treated his room. I wouldn’t be surprised.

Viper should have more hand cannoneers to counter eagle warriors. Also, he should have built more towers and castles and walls, to prevent his base from being counterattacked. Viper also should have focused on destroying castles and then killing catapults. Viper had lost so many production buildings, villagers and then mines.
Liereyy and Vinch is the set I can't wait to watch. Along with Valas v Fat Dragon. Hopefully Daniel can win at least one game so they relegate only one US player.

I believe Teutons were in Viper's draft, as his last pick. Otherwise would think Daut would have given him bengalis or burmese etc.
Teutonic knights even without elite would have been a better choice than the longswords he made near the end, but he only had one castle.

@@markusdegenhardt8678 yeah that i get, but i sometimes just think like some games having tons of money and no one ever trying to at least make 2 blacksmith to upgrade for atk and armour at the same time is kind of weird for me... or at least i haven't just seen one or just didn't realized it while watching

I do it myself and have others Seen doing it as well.
If you want to go for a heavy tec switch Like from arbalests to Champions it would make Sense. The Thing is thoose Situation are quite rare.

Just kidding, it has insane decision making and strategy choices...
@T90 Heard your audio comments. IMO what's happened/happening is your speaking volume/distance from the mic has changed more than anything. Your levels aren't consistent, and jump quite a bit when you get excited ~ 22:30 when Daut over chopped is a great example. Some extra compression on your audio should sort this out, just lower the dynamic range and raise the volume, repeat until happy.
What is T90 talking about with Daut picking Teutons for Viper? I watched Viper's video and that definitely didn't happen. Viper drafted Teutons and picked them for Arabia saying, "I'm gonna go Teutons here.... I don't think too many people are gonna expect my Teutons pick here."

aoe4 will probably get there and as it is less micro intensive I think that Daut may have its place at the top there.

this youtube video isnt quiet and even if it is my speakers are usually only on 20% or less so I can just turn it up when its to quiet lol why would people care about it tbh? if I play game or watch another thing on my second or third I just change the overall audio in windows settings if it really would be a problem tbh but It never was

I understand the reason for the “Oppt picks your civ” rule, but I don’t like it. Teutons are fine, but what if Islands had been in the map pool, and Daut had made Viper use Italians here, leaving Viper with no water civ and a really bad Arabia? That could be two wins off of one mistake, which feels wrong.
Maybe in the future “Person who mispicks has to declare which civ they’re going to use, their oppt gets to counterpick”? That’s still not great, but I think the punishment can be far too severe with the current rule.
In most games (and even other AOE tournaments) going off draft is an automatic loss. This is actually a much lighter punishment.
