Well Mr Pajo is going to add darker music to this guys. I really like this song and lights. Interpol fans don't have to regret that they don't sound like in their old albums, music is about evolution and bands have to have new experiences. I love this band!!
his voice is awful. it only sounds good in the pda outro because of the editing, listening to the raw lyrics unedited they sound cringeworthy bad, just like how awful he sings the outro live
@@bearzdlc2172 I think you are missing the point of why he's singing that way... the vocals are cut raw and it's two separate tracks of him doing two takes. To give the raw effect of the disparity of what Paul was singing about the whole time. He's the outside party Paul was singing to.
@@bearzdlc2172 you know punk singers sing a different way to sound cool. Almost like a fake uk accent? It’s kinda like that. I think you’ll understand what I mean by that. But it’s fine if you don’t too bud.
@YruamaZepol If you listen on the album you can hear that there is, in fact, a part an octave lower when he sings "keep us away". On the album, Paul sings both parts, but he obviously can't do that live, so he has to pick one.
I think Brandon doing backup vocals adds dimension to the song. Keep up the good work guys. Hey Sam, you look great and are stil the best at beatin those skins. Enjoy! Yvette (from Fort Lauderdale way back when)
Don't say they suck. say they suck to you, or that you don't like them so much, saying they suck means that you are some sort of expert in the field of music, which im pretty sure you aren't
They say that people who can't do, criticize. I guess that's why there are so many people hating on Brandon Curtis....yet he tours as a stand in with Interpol, has his own band, The Secret Machines, and David Bowie & Bono are close personal friends. Haters, get a life or get a talent instead of sitting around making fun of people who are actually living their dreams. I guess you should be jealous. I'm jealous I haven't met him yet.
@1990nandomods Anyone can have one fender bass precision. And you have to listen Slint, the first Mr. Pajo's band, in addition he played with Zwan and some great bands more, he is like an unknown genious.
for people pissing and moaning about the bass player David Pajo (former guitar player for slint..done work with other bands too) and the keyboard player Brandon Curtis (secret machines) these guys aren't 2 idiot they said "hey you'll do"..secret machines are awesome and slant were a great secret no one new about in the 80's and early 90's. I think Pajo was like 16 or 17 when Slint started
@surrealismo0muerte it isn't the keyboardist's fault that Paul can't sind the chorus by himself. The band just needs him to sing that high note that Paul can't seem to reach during live preformances. You guys should give him more credit, he is just doing his part :/
even we can't see carlos no more, but they were just still awesome for me. well, actually those basslines are genuinely Mr. Carlos D signature. i doubt that additional-bassist-lad can do create those stuffs as well.
they give a damn about him, they just dont know it, hes the reason why your feet is tapping, take him away.........and what do you got? solo guitars, solo bass, and a solo vocalist, Interpol aint Interpol without Fogarino...and the rest of them.
For all of you that think Brandon Curtis(keyboards, backing vocals) is some session musician or hired gun, get your facts straight. He was the head singer of The Secret Machines, a Dallas based group that was AWESOME. Why he joined Interpol, I don't know. This incarnation of Interpol is terrible. Check out the Secret Machines, they're great.
Said keyboardist is Brandon Curtis of The Secret Machines. His voice sounds ok on their studio stuff but if you've ever seen them live you realize the guy can't hold a note. Bad move Paul.
+Lieven29 How the fuck can i come across this comment? For about 6 months, iv'e been trying to think what that tick-tock timer was on top of a piano, but i refused to google it as i knew it was in my brain reserves somewhere. But thanks lol, now i remember.
@surrealismo0muerte I understand what you're saying, but this more comes down to a problem with the mixing of the tracks. It would sound a lot better if the engineer just turned down the back up vocals a bit.
oh my god, the new keyboarder singing the parts Paul can't sing is embarassing... I miss Carlos and the old times!!! :( I like Barricade, but it sure sounds better on the album, sorry p.s. was Letterman drunk or what?
For all of those bitching about the keyboard player and how he doesn't fit with the music... Well don't you think that he is in Interpol now for a reason? Is not like he joined by himself without asking lol... Paul Banks GOT HIM IN the band and he's been told to sing those high notes.. So if you don't like the keyboard player go and tell Paul to kick him out LOL
I love the song, and the guys look cool, except for the keyboardist, idk, i dont like him... and he doesnt sing good... I would like them to change him... :) but still, so good to see them back, with a nice song
What? How is that self explanatory? If you say to someone "Hey, you see that car? That car sucks" the person is going to assume that the car indeed sucks and that you know about that car, but if you say "Hey, you see that car? That car sucks in my opinion" then the person is going to think "Huh? I should check that car and see if it sucks or not". Maybe its dumb to put an example to something so simple but im really puzzled at how you would think that what you said is self explanatory...
Maybe the singer had the keyboard player do that, 'cause he din't want/couldn't/didn't feel like hitting those high notes. Nothing against him, but the shades the singer's sporting; maybe he's hung over or something. Just saying at the level of playing on Letterman, nothing is just 'happingstance,' everything's for a reason....please consider that
@musethemusclemuseum though i love your name(i love muse and that song) your comment is just outrageously ridiculous. +hightimesbruce They Didn't replace him on purpose, he left because he didnt like being in a band anymore and he wanted to play guitar. This left them no choice to find a new bassist. During the recording of El Pintor they did it without bass and paul played it. he's actually a good bass player, then they had some metal guy with long hair join them and they made it work. when you lose a member its hard to find a permanent replacement.
Ummm... I don't think that keyboardist understands what Interpol is all about, his voice doesn't fit with the music... and by the way Paul shakes his head at 2:51, I'd think he agrees with me.
David Pajo on bass. Brilliant.
So happy Dave Pajo is alive
Did he join as Carlos' permanent replacement or just a touring member like Brad Truax?
No one like Carlos Dengler, he was the best :(
both dave pajo and carlos d had the interpol vibes written all over them and were great bassists
Sam is just killing it on the drums.

Carlos was great. Don't even think he's making bass a prime part of his life now.
Whoever complains about the keyboardist/backing vox have some fucking respect. Thats Brandon Curtis from the Secret Machines!
This is really good! I thought interpol struggled to play the OLTA stuff live so this is amazing to see them back to form.
Good thing this isn't OLTA and instead the self-titled then :P
Michael don’t think you understand 😙
the best bas player for interpol was mr mustacheman :(
wee miss u :(
I watched all of letterman just to see this. They are awesome. They are all rocking glasses though except daniel lol.
I love the bassline, Mr. Pajo is a great musician. I love interpol.
That was Carlos D’s bass work, not Pajo. He never wrote any for Interpol, just played with them. But I agree he is Amazon
@@bearzdlc2172 Ok, thanks for the feedback!

The Secret Machines were an amazing band.
I think given the alternative of Paul sounding weak(er) on the high notes, this situation works out quite well
Paul is hot!!
Amazing performance
nadie igualara su estupida y grandiosa voz un dios ese cantante
I actually really like the backing vocals. Works perfectly.
BACK VOCALS ARE GREAT!!!
@surrealismo0muerte that's Brandon Curtis, an extremely talented dude and frontman for Secret Machines, one of Interpol's favorite bands. Recognize.
Brandon Curtis is amazing listen to the Secret Machines !!!!!!!

yes bro david P in his finest m,ooment
