As naut main who couldn't find a naut guide. Im trully gratefull for this. Thank you
Thank you very much for making this. Most “guides” just read you the ability tooltips (sometimes not even that) and then tell you some runes and items for a few minutes and that’s it.
This guide gave a much more holistic understanding the champion and his kit + role
One of the best guides I've ever seen, very detailed. Learnt so much, ty!

Truly amazing guide. Probably the most complete and informative one on Nautilus that I have found.

I know she isn't a standard meta support, but wouldn't Poppy be considered a decent counter as well? I otp her and I'm nowhere close to good, but I enjoy her as a support.
Hey ty i love this guide im not english native so i beg u pls could u tell me more about what do u mean when u say something is forgiving or fogivable? also wdym with front to back and footing oh and also with flat shield hehe thx for the guide!!!!

This is too good to be free xD
In the "counters" section you only talked about supports. Do you think sivir is a viable counter?
Yes Sivir is probably the best ADC counter to Naut. Whether she is in a healthy spot in the meta is a different question though. Good point!
I notice in mostly low elo, heavy trading is pretty much the only thing happening. Whenever I go for a short-trade, my adc instantly overextend and try to all-in (whether it's an Ashe, Ezreal or Caitlyn) x) So I was wondering if--in general--aftershock is the better choice in low elo? Nobody is really utilizing the extra cc as far as I can tell.
Aftershock is a bandaid for poor engages mostly. If your ADC is committing to an all-in on a solid engage from you, the glacial slow will help to achieve that. I would encourage you to try both out for yourself though, as I am not experiencing what you are. Adapting to your games and reality is an important skill!
The problem I have with Nautilus (and Bard) is how team reliant they are. It doesn't matter how far ahead you get your team mates if they throw or get caught, squandering the lead you got them. You NEED your carries to be competent.
This isn't really true, but relies on you trusting a bit in the psychological aspect of games. This sounds a little out there, but it's a core fundamental of any game. If you've played things like FGs before, you might be familiar with using mental aspects of the game to your advantage.
For example, if you're a good Nautilus, you'll inspire teammates to follow up and do things, while scaring the enemy. This on its own creates a mismatch where the enemy team is forced to respect you when you walk around or walk up, even if you don't throw your hook, giving your whole team pressure. Bard is the same way. His pressure isn't necessarily because he has kill pressure or anything like that, but because he is omni present. Think about what it's like when an assassin leaves the midlane and you don't know which way they walked. The entire map has to play safe, you give up pressure, and if there's a wave building, they might be under threat of a dive under tower.
Playing any hook champion often means you're leading the charge. Not necessarily in the way that you're going to go into the enemy team, but that you are the play maker, the one who looks for enemy mistakes and capitalizes. If you're a good naut and showing that in game, people will be more inclined to follow close to you so they can pick up those juicy kills you're setting up. You have to remember that generally speaking, your teammates will like following up, because people like killing enemy champs. They love opportunities to get stronger.
Essentially, you're looking to Faker buff your team. If you just look at your kit, of course you'll be like yea, low damage, high CC, high CDs, and you'll probably think to yourself, yea, if my team doesn't help, I can't do anything. But the truth is that there are real tangible effects from just being a Nautilus. A huge hard to miss hook, an extremely reliable and predictable R to play around, and your passive of course being another unmissable CC. Things like this usually instill some confidence in your team because in their head, you can't fuck up your engage, and they'll be able to capitalize, vs say if you're playing thresh or Blitz, where you might see teammates not want to work around you at all.
Wonderful guide!! 😭Can we have a bard guide for the fellow bard otps :)
biggest counter is taric no?
Bro, way too much upfront mouth. Good content, less face/mouth/tanktop.
