I was out for walk with my female Labrador when a lady asked if she could hug my dog. I said yes and she gave my dog a good smooch and went her way. My dog reacted adorably and immediately did a joyful little dance. I will never forget that. ❤😊

I have been privileged to have adopted several dogs. Each has their own personality n ways to show u they love u. I am disabled n my newest baby is too. She was used as a breeder, pups went for $1500-$2500 each. She is 8 now n totally appreciates any n all attention, she deserves it! We've been together for 6 months n it took some time for her to trust me. Just allow ur fur baby to guide u as to what they want. They will. Just gotta let them lead the way. SUGARS to all!

It depends on the dog. I had one who put up with hugs and kisses and one who loved hugs and kisses. My current dog is the one who gets in MY face to get a hug or a smooch.

Isn’t whether a dog likes a kiss from humans dependent on the individual dog? I have had 4 Irish Setters, 1 English Setter, 1 Australian Shepherd Labrador mix, and 1 Australian Shepherd. They all loved being hugged and kissed. I just open my arms and they come running.

They may not understand it to begin with but they learn to love it…remember dogs lick your face for a similar reason and we learn to love that too…it’s bonding

This was a very informative video. Thank you for providing it. My dog, Scrappy, loves kisses, but my favorite way he shows love is how he's always leaned up against me when I'm sitting down. When I sit on the floor cross-legged, he sits in the middle and rests his head on my leg while giving me love eyes. He usually falls asleep not too long afterward, but the level of trust and seeing him so happy and content warms my heart ♥️
When I lightly hold his face and pet followed by kiss he responds positively and makes no gesture to try and get away. Now a hug, no way. He does not like to be trapped in any way.. and I respect that. Belly rubs ok!

My dog understands variou actions as "affection"---even when i clean him after a walk outside wipeing his paws. He knows i care forhim and cosniders it affection. So he'll start licking my face as if to show his thanks...he just figured on his own i clean hi out of love. LIkes hugs, head massages, ear massages, cheek massages....he'll sit next to me on the sofa or in my recliner.....
Oddly he's not crazy about being picked up intitially...sort of squirms then stops pat way though and is fine. One of his odd traits.
Likes "rough housing" e.g. "play wrestling"....kisses have never bothered him. HAe gets it a i also stroke his head or back at the same time or soon after...nor is he botghered if i put my head against his for a brief second...

This video is spot on with the facts only some dogs will eventually learn that kisses are human affection but not all dogs will learn or understand that same as stroking and petting on top of a dogs head most dogs do not like being petted on top of their head they prefare stroking the back of the ears or under the chin or chest or many like to be scratched and stroked at the back end of the body that's were my two staffies like best 🐾🐾🥰 dogs are the best and not just pets but part of the family & they are like little toddlers 🐾🐾❤️

This is a lot of generalization. Every dog is different, and when a dog is brought up with physical affection, petting and kissing as part of its routine, it understands what those things mean. The maker of this video seems to forget that dogs also "kiss" and show affection by licking. Anyone who has spent as many hours with canine family members as I have knows that this video is superficial in its conclusions at best.
Mine begins to lick my face, which I takes as her kissing me back😊 If she ever draws back, I obviously let her. She's allowed to not want cuddles all the time, even if I do.
Edit; should maybe mention I have a lab, and my experience is that they love to lick other dogs in the face as well to show how nice they are. She does that every time she plays with other dogs, no matter how recently they met. Known for years? Licks. Known for 2min? Licks!

when i adopted my dog, he was almost 4yo. the first time i hugged him, i did see that he was not used to it (showed me a stunned face)... now HE hugs me when i come back home...
also, my dog is kinda like my dad : he tells me when it's time to get to bed, which is sometimes annoying because, darn! it's only just 8pm!!

Biological exchange....we instinctively kiss our partners/babies/etc to express affection because it exchanges germs to boost immunity and exchanges pheremones that encourage bonding and overall sense of well-being.
Just like humans, some dogs will like kisses and cuddles and some won't. My dog loves them. She licks me back when I kiss her. And if I forget to give her a kiss and cuddle goodnight, she grumbles at me until I do it 😄 Licking my nose is her way of saying I love you.

Dogs are great. No doubt about that. However, did your dog just get done drinking from the toilet before you kissed it? Did your dog just finish licking itself before you kissed it? What did your dog eat in the back yard before you kissed it? I think you get the picture. Some dogs will bite your nose or face off if you try hug or kiss it. Don't be stupid. Be aware. Be safe. You can always still pet and cuddle your favorite animal friend. Just don't do this with a wild animal or feral cat. Not a good idea.

Wow, it's like we were separated at birth! :o) I love my dog more than I've ever loved any living being, but I've never kissed her. She's as adorable as all get-out, but she's never been overly picky about what she puts in her mouth (unless it's her food, of course). I'll spare you the details, but blech! Don't share my bed with her either. Tried it when she was a puppy, but we kept waking each other up, was worried she might hurt herself if she jumped or fell off, and also because it's pretty unhygienic.
