  • We arrive in Japan and take the famed Shinkansen bullet train from Tokyo all the way to Kyoto. We used our Japan Rail Passes for the trip - which was very easy, links below. The Shinkansen bullet train ride was about 2.5 hours long. This video ends after we arrive in Kyoto, but stay tuned for many more videos about the things we do in Japan!

    If you want to stay more large room in big city like Tokyo or Kyoto,I recommend using airBAB.
    And when in countryside,stay ryokan! Especially with onsen,definately can relax and comefortable,and can eat delicious japanese traditional and local food.Almost of ryokan is tatami room,very japanese.I recommend!

    The Japan Rail Pass may be worthwhile, depending on how much travel people may do between major cities on Japan Rail (JR) lines. I used on for 2 weeks of a month-long holiday.
    I recommend travelling on the bullet "shinkansen" trains at least once.

      The bullet train can definitely be a highlight in Japan! Big Engineer (5yo) share's a kid's perspective on the bullet train here: czcams.com/video/W3SxlgZWNg4/video.html
      The Japan Rail Pass is popular with visitors, but you can't use it for the 'Nozomi' Shinkansen we rode in the video; you can still upgrade to the First Class 'green cars' from a Japan Rail Pass, however.

    Hello. How was the room for your check in luggage on shinkansen? I'd probably have 2 check ins to carry since I`ll be staying longer in Kyoto, but I wonder if there will be enough room for luggage storage on shinkansen. Thanks!

    • @AdventureswithPinny
      @AdventureswithPinny  Před 6 lety

      Hello, thanks for watching! Right when you get on there is a little closet-like area for people to put their luggage in. Erica and I both had luggage and on our first ride we put it in this space. On our ride back to Tokyo we actually put in the overhead storage above our seats and near our legs since there was lots of legroom. Hope that helps!

    I'm Japanese burn and raised in Tokyo and this is my first post on youtube.
    I know this is a sort of stupid question, what is attractive point of Tokyo and Japan.
    As to Tokyo in particular, I get use to the places where is many youtubers film and tourism spots as well.
    This is serious questions.
    Is Japan such a strange and a funny place?
    Actually, I've been in London and Paris over ten years.
    I think each countries have each goodnesses where tourists are satisfied.
    No offence. why Japan? that's I really want to know.

    I went on a tour of Japan in 1985. The bullet train only traveled at 210 kmh back then. Went to Hiroshima. Then onto the southern island of Kyushu to Fukuoka. Food not so filling. 7/11 was a good choice for me also.

    • @AdventureswithPinny
      @AdventureswithPinny  Před 6 lety

      Wow, that's really cool! I can only imagine that Japan was much different at that time. How was southern Japan? I didn't have the chance to visit that area but hopefully someday. 😊

      @philipguacci6452 Před 6 lety +1

      linnyis it was really warm and I did not realize that the southern island was so big. We took a local slow train to Beppu. The volcanic town of sulphur hot springs. Smelly. Would liked to have gone to Nagasaki and Kagoshima, which is very tropical. I felt very safe in Japan. Melbourne Australia is not so much at present. Cheers.

    • @AdventureswithPinny
      @AdventureswithPinny  Před 6 lety

      What an awesome trip! Beppu sounds really interesting (although smelly haha). I'll have to look it up! Yeah it would have been fun to explore the more tropical side of Japan. Maybe you'll just have to visit again! That's what I'm saying anyway, I would love to go back someday. :)

    • @philipguacci6452
      @philipguacci6452 Před 6 lety

      linnyis I would love to go again. At the time I was in my early twenties. What I did not know then was that I had chrons disease. So thirty two years later it would be a trip that might be to strenuous. Insurance cover is hard to get also. Pre existing conditions. But it's a great country and there was so much to see. Milkimoto pearl farms was great. I also missed out on a Kobe steak. A$85.00 then. More now. All the best.
