- This week I review the Chinese made Perla Barb 70cc Chainsaw. The saw is fitted with a 20" Hurricane Pro Bar & Chain. The saw is distributed in Australia by Jono and Johno.

Chainsaw Update - Recently I needed to replace the starter cord on this chainsaw. It was a pretty easy repair. The cause of the break was a sharp edge on the pulley wheel where the cord was tied.
You are still a little rich on your high jet…close that 1/4 turn from the 1 to around 3/4… and she won’t dog like that… 👍😁. You’re doing great, buddy!!! Keep on Sawin’!!!
Excellent video thank you, I’ve been doing the same thing currently looking at some of the cheaper Chinese chainsaws on eBay and doing some research on them, it’ll be my first chainsaw so I don’t mind buying a cheaper one to start me off, we have had two huge gum trees come down on the property and need them cleaned up. I’m leaning more to purchasing one of these. Thanks again for your vid.
I bought a 62cc. It cuts well and starts so easy - only a couple of major headaches. The hurricane chain is not pre stretched which means it is getting loose with 5 minutes of use. I did not know how long or how many small cuts it would take to settle down- I went to buck a fairly thick branch and when the lump of wood fell I noticed the Dirty Harry .45 Magnum syndrome- taken the chain clean off! Even though at the start I checked tension and found it to be very tight, as it was cutting it must have expanded and come loose- very dangerous. That leads to another defect- the chain cover is fiddly and at times jam up. When finally it is opened it messes up the chain brake and that then needs fiddling until it is right. During the cut the saw felt getting hot and started smoking for a continuous 1.5-2 minute cut. No issues with bar oil as the wood bits are all quite wet and sticky

I'm looking to get a similar Saw for the occasional Big Wood and can't see spending on a Pro-saw for the rare use. It seems most are being called 72cc saws now and available with a 24" Bar/chain, but who knows what their true size is...

Yes it does.
To add a few positives- doesn't leak anything - my Husky 450 leaks a small amount of bar oil and easiest start I have ever had in any of my 11 brand name saws! Just the chain stretching too much and the chain cover fiddling issues put me off.

Thank you for the video. What is the vibration like? Does it perform the same as a know brand? I bought a brush cutter in the same brand 5 years ago and it vibrated so much I got pins and needles in my hands everyone I used it. The power was great but vibration was terrible.
I found the vibration no worse than my older Stihl chainsaw.

It's still running great. I did have to fix the pull cord because it frayed on a burr in the starting drum but that's the only issue I've had with it so far. But in saying that I only use it occasionally so it's had an easy life.

I tell you mate...get yourself some Putoline TT Trial Pro 2 stroke oil and mix at 40-1...(25ml / litre)...You can get it from Shark Motorcycle Leathers (Gold Coast) my MTM 62SX has been going great for three years now and I'm cutting Gidgee wood every winter...I'd say I would have 100 hours + on my MTM 62SX and it's going great...of course I maintain it well but the 2 stroke oil has made a great difference...Putoline TT Trial Pro...Get some!
Hey mate I'm picking up an mtm 72sx soon and wondering if I should run it at the recommend 25:1 at first or go straight to 40:1?

It was a Southern Blue Gum I believe which is an Australian native eucalyptus local to the area.
Use 98 high octane form shell it won't eat the fuel lines and the saw it is based on is a husqvarna 365 with a 72cc big bore kit on it
Not seen this particular saw before.
My son recently bought a Baum AG 20” 62cc saw off E-Bay new for $159.
Plenty of power and only let down by the quality of the bar and chain, which are pretty ordinary, otherwise it seems ok.
I was impressed with the bar & chain on my saw by the end of the job. It was still cutting well on the last cut.

i bought one from them screws are not loctite in in they fall out its been 3 seasons 40m of wood its just about ready for the tip hard to start hard to adjust carby , maybe i got a bad one ,its black in colour. i bought a chinese saw called a x bull had it 4 years cut 50 meters of wood still running its 62cc ,can't find them on ebay no more but great saw for 130 dollars.every one you buy these days comes from china .
you should never use E10 ethanol fuel I use 95 2stoke fuel and never had any issues
Full choke till it fires, then push the choke only half in…
I disagree with leaving fuel tank empty. You are meant to store any small engine with a chockers tank to avoid condensation
In the old days…with ethanol pump gas it’s better off dry and drained…
Depends what country you are in and what is in your fuel
Australia doesn’t have the ethanol issues like in the US. We have other issues though (with high very levels of harmful chemicals) but generally you can store our fuel with no reduction in quality for at least 12 months.
Get rid of the d completion valve , don’t use it.
