  • Yassuo aka Moe's downfall is one of the most depressing in the League of Legends community. The same player that solo killed Faker and won Twitch Rivals slowly succumbed to gambling and started to hate the game he once loved, all in front of his fans that wanted him to enjoy League again. This is Moe's story.

There is no satisfaction in winning games in league just the relief of sealing the leads you created throughout the game that we’re the actual enjoyable parts. But your right winning literally 4 games 2 being ones where u make an awesome play that affects the game etc and 2 where u play your role somewhat well and empower your team.
It’s all washed by the literally bot adc that goes 1-12 at 13 minutes while u were slowing building your lead, then hostages the game.

@MB Tyler1 admitted it himself on one of his more lucid moments in Stream that unless you're mentally f*cking ill like him, streaming this piss-pit hell of a game is extremely hard. Only very few people are like Tyler1 and Faker who can still remain sane despite playing the game for a long time but not all of us are like them. In fact, they only encompass 0.0001% of the playerbase and even then, Tyler still gets really frustrated on some of his games. Yes, they're getting paid, but if you're suffering mentally, all that money is useless. No amount of billions of dollars can heal your sanity once it's gone. I mean, just take a look at all the Celebrities and famous people who committed suicide or suffering depression over the years despite them already having all the worldly possessions at their disposal. League causes depression and addiction to a lot of people and that's REAL.

The funniest part about all of this is Yassuo would still have fans if he just went straight to variety instead of league content, as even now he averages 2k viewers on non-league related content which is still a lot more than a large majority of streamers, he can still get sponsorships, collab with people and make a good amount of money, he has the personality for it. He has so many connections and an organization behind him that he could have leveraged to transition into a variety streamer and do content he actually enjoys. He knows a ton of league streamers who've been through the same thing as him.
It honestly feels like a lot of streamers that get 10k+ viewers doing specific content, that attempt to transition into variety "suffer from success" where they deem their view count (which is usually not as bad as people make it out) to be terrible when in reality it's still very much viable. I'd much rather make a bit less money doing something I love and have a better quality of life than do something I absolutely detest and hate every second of my existence.

    • @ApexGale
      @ApexGale Před rokem +47

it's just so crazy, honestly. 2k viewers and a good brand image is still incredibly good. out of those 2k viewers, if just 200 of them are subbing that's 1k from subs alone. not factoring in the ad revenue, or sponsorships, or money made from edited youtube content, or brand deals, etc. it's this really toxic mentality of "if the number went down i'm failing" when in reality they'd still make comfortable money from...playing video games.

Great video, but I really feel like the drama between Moe and his ex-gf was really underplayed here. I feel like that had a monumental role on his mental and was probably one of the biggest reasons he had started to go on a downward spiral. I only knew Yassuo as that crazy good Yasuo otp so while watching this I was thinking "oh he was getting bored/league was making him more and more toxic and he tried other games and it wasn't working out? Seems like a normal thing" then the gambling part came up and I was like, "oh dear...". The fact he says he has more fun gambling then playing league but still rages HARD in both cases shows how much League also affects a persons health. Both are addicting but League was what carried Yassuo to fame, is what I am seeing, and he clearly had PURE passion playing it early on that when it started to affect his mental/get boring it hit harder.
I also agree with the comments, the stuff about his love life and the lying, if you truly love someone which we wouldn't know cuz he isn't gonna stream that, having it fall apart in such a shitty way would hurt anyones mental state. If he just didn't resort to gambling games... sheesh, its weird to say but its such a cliche thing to do...
On a side note: Otp-ing in my opinion can be risky in cases like this but it shows how every aspect of a League game can become stale even if you were to start playing other champions. Its the mechanics of the map and your team that truly make the game because OTP streamers can try and play other champs/lanes but if you're mad/depressed or bored by the game playing other champs isn't gonna change that mood. But who knows, it's something I thought may have helped Yassuo if he tried maybe another lane or another champion. Its possible from the beginning, though, that the "winning" was all he cared about and not the actual environment of the game. In both cases someone can be addicted, but the specifics is what determines playability of different champs/different lanes. If you are SOO good with a single champ, trying another one for content can seem tiring.

None of them consistently pull 20-30k viewers on stream. When you have the connections and monetizable audience like Tyler does it makes streaming a game you hate much more tolerable because you can think in 5-10 years you'll be several times over set for retirement. He's also legitimately addicted as the other comment said. The guy just recently played 30 games in 1 day during his EUW challenge -- Off stream btw. The "FIX THE GAME, IT SUCKS PLAYING THIS SHIT BUT I CANT QUIT CUZ IM FUCKIN ADDICTED" meme wasn't just a meme. They only get played first 2 months until they are nerfed for easy LP then people go back to playing their Jinx, Jax, Zed, Yi, Rengar, Blitz, Janna that have been played for a decade and will always be played regardless of their "power" because they have identity and are fun.

League isn't nearly as toxic as people think. It is to streamers, but people are toxic to the ones who have been toxic, which he has. You don't see people running it down in Druts games, you never saw it in Imaqtpie's games, both rank 1 players on their servers. But RatIRL, Tyler1, yeah people int them, because they int.
The reason it feels toxic is because if you encounter a rager you are stuck with them for what feels like an eternity, and people need to learn to not let that get to them. Just go to your happy place until an ff finally works or you lose and move on. Getting mad in response is just nonsene.

@@f-empire-8 did you watch any of the videos or streams? His normal deposits/balances were like 100,000-200,000k then he'd ride that out for as long as he could. Obviously he's losing more than he's winning but he wouldn't be doing it if he wasn't at least going even from stream revenue, deals, etc. I promise you that a lot of the money he was throwing into those slots wasn't his to begin with

@@owenrodriguez5641 I didn't no, i'm not interested in any gambling apart from the occasional poker game. My thoughts were that if he is going deep on the gambling and chasing the dragon, it's going to put a significant dent in his networth, especially due to the fact his channel was in decline, less money coming in, much more going out. If he was being paid to play and not disclosing.. that's another story entirely.

You and I must not have watched the same guy...when I watched him, he was an asshole to his team, his viewers, and oftentimes other streamers.
I remember when he would flat-out ban people in his chat who were simply giving advice on matchups he was struggling with. He flamed people who would ask him to play League or do viewer duels. I was subbed to him on Twitch for nearly two years, but I finally got tired of his hostile attitude.

Nah, he's not gonna come back. He was interesting when I was younger, because I liked his cringy persona, and his editor, Pinoy right?, was ACTUALLY working, processing hours of gameplay to make a funny video with some memes in it.
You'll never be good at something you are not passionate about. For Moe - streaming LoL game is just another day at the office, and he hates everyone there. He plays League because he needs money and attention, and that's it :)
