    I love that he wanted to get her them for Christmas and called her first to ask her. Not worth a surprise if it turns out the person doesnt want them or cant take care of them. Love seeing someone finally ask first before gifting.

      Agree with this comment so much… my “friend” tried to surprise me with a three month old kitten last year, knowing that I really love cats,. But as sweet as he was I told her I couldn’t accept him bc I have a Jack Russell terrier who likes to hunt small animals and hates cats especially, and I work all day, I will never be home enough for a kitten, I already have trouble trying to find time to walk my dog everyday. She got mad at me and called me selfish bc I didn’t accept the cat, and accused me of not caring if he was alive or not. She doesn’t understand that my very hyper dog would try to kill it everyday until the job was done. If it wasn’t for my dog, I would’ve e gotten a cat already myself. Finding a cat was never the issue. I know better then to bring one into my home at this time. Having a pet is a lifetime commitment. It’s not like she was gifting me a shirt that I turned down. You can’t just surprise someone like that, especially if you don’t live with them or really understand their living situation. The thought is nice but always ASK FIRST!

    These cats know that this dad is a keeper.
    On a more serious note, the cats probably imprinted on the dad because he rescued them. I rescued an old cat (13 yrs ) from an adoption shelter that was not coping too well and she never left my side. We live in the country and I could walk her around our property off lead and she would go out and come in with me, like a shadow. Cats pick their humans

    • @manyBlessings2all
      @manyBlessings2all Před rokem +76

      Yes I wondered that, about the cats imprinting on the husband as he's the one who went to get them... So a lesson for people wanting to give surprises, apart from the number saying how good he asked his wife first, absolutely, living beings as surprise gift is pretty crazy really, such a commitment.. but also best to take the recipient to the initial meeting too, so there is equal imprinting, or at least an equal chance. Bless them all, obviously all loving, but would be nice for the wife if the cats shared their attention more evenly .. esp as it sounds like she does most of the cat-related chores!

      Is not always that reason, my girl and I got a bunch of cats and they have been always specially fond of me. Even with my girl being the one who feed them, clean their box, etc. You know why? Because I'm the one who most plays with them, for animals play time is a super serious and important thing, and believe It or not, is what they give more importance of all.

      Guys. Cats go for the human that let's them have their control. In other words, the one that leaves them alone.

      Cats like to control their interactions.

      Sorry, but neither this man nor you "rescued" those cats or your girl cat. You adopted them from a rescue/shelter who were the ones involved in rescuing them from the situation they were in. You gave her a home and love and not to be in stress at the rescue anymore which is harder on senior kitties. Rescuing them means to actually be the one to either take them off the street as a stray or from a neglectful situation.

      Do you have a beard? I've had cats my whole life but they were always affectionate but they got more so after I grew a beard. It's like they wanted to be in my face all the time all of a sudden.
      I've found that leaving animals alone and letting them come to you is the way to go. I have and old barn raccoons live in. A few years ago I decided to see how well I could get them used to me. In about a week they were coming up to take food right out of my hands. I'd put food out for them somewhere they could hide a little if they wanted too, but I'd sit 30 feet away not even really looking at them. Eventually a few of them will wonder why this hairless ape is hanging around and become interested. One thing I did learn quickly is that raccoons understand how containers work. Most animals will rip open a big of food to get it. If I left a bag with food in at my feet the raccoon would just grab it and run away.

The only good reasons to dislike cats imo is severe allergy or childhood trauma(it's of course completely fine to just not want to have a cat though, not everyone has the space, time and money). People that dislike cats for any other reason are a red flag. Best case scenario they completely lack a sense of humor.

      That is so true. I love all animals, but I usually had dogs. However, when I moved into an elderly man’s house to help him manage some health issues, his cat started to bond with me. I was concerned at first because I didn’t want him to feel hurt that his cat was sneaking into my room at night. He was actually okay with it. The gentleman passed away last summer and his family was happy that they didn’t have to worry about what was going to happen to his 18 year old cat...now 19.
      This cat is the most affectionate cat I’ve ever encountered. He has to always be touching me when we sleep. When it’s cold he snuggles right up near my face and I wake up and he’s got his head on my pillow. If it’s warm, he will put his paw on my arm. It’s been an amazing experience. ❤🐈‍⬛

      There's a serious financial responsibility when it comes to adopting a pet. Cats need Vet checks, vaccinations, nail trims, teeth cleaning once every 4-6 years (they have to be put under for that and it costs $$$$). They should have their teeth cleaned regularly at home by the owner each day. As cats age, they develop conditions (just like humans) and may need more frequent or more expensive Vet procedures. Cat food is expensive, too. AND the litter. Like everything else, prices are going up. So, make sure you can afford two cats--or the cats may regret it.

      @Klemheist Absolutely none of it is true, not a single bit. It's almost incredible.
      Alphas don't actually exist, that was a term coined from a disproven study on wolves. It never even meant provider, as everyone in the pack provides equally, it only refered to the leading pair with breeding rights, but again, that doesn't exist the way you think. Wolves and lions are extremely different in their heriarchies and family dynamics so that doesn't apply either, not to mention how humans are so VASTLY different from both it's actually asinine to compare.

      @@hotmamma2126 You are wrong on soo many levels.. I will just give you a simple example, when you see a pack of dogs, there is always an alpha, male or female doesn't matter. There is always an ALPHA in the pack. I will tell you something that I personally witnessed. One day I was walking to work, I saw a group of 6 stay dogs laying around. When I get closer to them, 2 of them were growing to me, the one in the far back came close to me and sniffed my hand and I petted it and tail was wagging and do you know what happened next? Every dog in the pack came to greet me and for some pets and the alpha saw something and barked in that direction and all of them ran in that direction.
      This is one of the countless encounters of the similar behavior with animals that I witnessed.
      THERE IS ALWAYS A ALPHA. PERIOD..
      Humans and animals are not the same. You may think that some animals showing human behavior or or feelings but, they are not. They operate on a whole different level.

      @Klemheist?? That was the whole point. I was saying that, there is always an alpha..in this case yes he Is the alpha. Read again what I wrote. • @hotmamma2126
      @hotmamma2126 Před 2 lety +20

      @@evil7011 Anecdotes aren't actually evidence, especially given since that interpretation of that situation you said isn't the sign of an alpha rather than common practice "monkey see monkey do". That was a braver, more curious dog who took a risk and was rewarded which others followed because it worked out for the first. That's not an inherent sign of a provider nor do you know what else that dog does for the pack. They very well could be human friendly and dog submissive.
      You keep mistentrepreting what an alpha is with just "providing" when all animal groups have roles who pull their weight in different aspects. Do you mean hunting because female lions are the hunters and wolves all contribute to the hunt so already that can't work just between them, one of which the term was MADE for. Do you mean breeding because again, that's not necessarily a provider and lionesses all breed with a male who they can exile if they don't believe him capable of doing his job of defending the territory (which lionesses also do, males just focus on it so not an alpha). Humans don't follow alphas, our psychology is too complex and there's multiple factors that play into why someone may follow them, even if typically that includes faith in someone providing something we want but that's not always the case so not viable.
      Have you ever looked up what an alpha is? Genuinely? It's a disproven study, actually scientifically studied, so I'm not sure where you think you have the qualifications to just say "No, I'm right". It's almost concerning how you can dig your heels into such a weak argument that treats all animal behaviors the same to work which just isn't the case. Cats aren't dogs which aren't humans, that's just not debatable

It starts when the cats are very young of course, cat dad's can teach us all how to not be afraid to build a closer bond, make time, spend time being interactive, show interest, talk to the kitty, carry them often, hold them, sleep with them, don't let them outside for the first few years or ever, feed them in a timely manner every day, play time is important, be hands on, call them by their names and show enthusiasm for the kitty, and you will get all the love back ten fold for years.

      So true! We have a lot of feral cats in my neighborhood. Two other ladies on my street besides me feed these homeless kitties. One cute little calico cat was having a litter every year and I gave her extra food during her pregnancy. She would wait across the street and if I greeted her with enthusiasm she came running. Long story short, I fostered her last 2 litters, kept 4, found homes for the rest, had her fixed and now I am her human. She's always glad to see me and now lives in my yard, happy and healthy, extremely loving. But she doesn't want to be an indoor cat, even in the winter cold. I love hearing cat stories, don't you?

      I totally agree with this. I believe the only reason some cats aren't as friendly is because they weren't properly socialized from and early age. I think because as a child my mother was affectionate with us, and I had cats as well, later when I had cats I was affectionate with them and held them as soon as it was safe to do so. I think that's why my cats were all so affectionate. I have seen some cats go from somewhat feral to surprisingly friendly, as well.

    Cole is a mackerel tabby. Their super smart n very sensible. Orange tabbies are such love bugs. Our orange tabby showed our mackerel tabby how to open drawers, cabinets and closet doors. Seems like whoever surrendered these 2 showed them a lot of love and attention. Animals chose us, even if we don’t want to admit it. They’ll sense who the softy is or the human that’s more lenient.

    "Third wheel" 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I know that feeling. My husband decided we'd get a cat instead of a dog, because it would be easier than taking a dog outside to go potty. She took to him and I'm the clean up staff, she is suppose to be my cat. When she gets in trouble then according to him she is definitely my cat, otherwise she's Daddy's girl.
