- Last time we did a musical tour of the Bridge Bunker. This time I will take you on a narrative tour of half the settlement. We'll cover the second half in the next video, and then do a Q&A/Tips&Tricks video.

I think is my favorite.
It's bland, but really clean, you didn't clutter it up like others.
I never thought it was possible to build that high in the game.
I always believed that Finch farm was a lost cause for building on, but you proved me wrong.

Here forget the haters, I enjoy listening to you to about fallout, I played it in 2015 got my character up to level 79 11 days in, when I downloaded the game it took 3 days, then when I got my saves back it took 3 hours to synch the days which was painful lol but I pretty much exhausted everything back then when it came to missions and collecting/hoarding, then I got in to settlement building, then we had children.... so the xbox went out the window then my son got a hold of it and hes a wee gamer now lol. 5 years later I started playing it again, rather enjoying it with the add ons because the settlement building is a whole load of fun and better with the add on workshops. I've started building a manufacturing warehouse where am gonna product everything available, so much to talk about when it comes to building in this game, but it's been time consuming but I enjoy it, kids go to bed its fallout time. You enjoy your game and keep putting put content that you want, much love all the way from scotland.
Took me an hr to get to level 80... xp mining... spam build statues (copper) down a straight road (sanctuary) ... scrap em... rinse & repeat...

I did something similar with my Finch Farm. I used the wonderful "Scaffolding" to build a ramp tower up to the overpass, then built a single story concrete building over the entire thing to hold beds n indoor stuff, with farm plots, fusion generator, and artillery on the roof. O.o
(Note) "Scrap Everything Mod" shows that there are "Sit on the ground" idle markers around the "caravan stop". Thats why they wont sit in chairs.

Really like the half open ceiling in the atrium area, and the open walls on the ocean side.
You should build a radio station for Curie and put her talkative nature to use, educating the gosh darn wasteland.

I cannot wait for pt 2 and even pt 3 (judging from how detailed you are currently going) for the full explanation. You do know how to keep a viewer waiting for more, that is for sure.

Glad I'm not the only one that put one of my female settler/companions in the Grognak outfit.
I try a number of interesting outfits for her. In one episode, she's in the Silver Shround outfit and looks pretty rad.

finch farm was my 1st dedicated player base, i hooked it up with 2 stiar towers inclosed, with a lower bridge for guards, this was all before the elevators came out.
I know this is an old video and I still play fallout 4 to this day

One thing about these concrete builds: You can grab the concrete post and snap them into the corners (assuming right angles). This gives a nicely finished appearance and provides a little verisimilitude. Also, my headcanon is that the mesh "windows" are actually embedded-wire glass in a concrete frame, and thus weathertight.

Good work man. I never cared about settlements until playing the updated survival mode.
Your settlements are always so amazing.. I wish I had the time to be this dedicated to building on Fallout, but I play other games also. It would take me a month of playing Fallout for an hour or two at a time, every other day, just to be able to do one settlement like this lol.
But, your videos have actually inspired me to start playing and getting into Fallout more and more again, or I should say; reignited the flame to want to play Fallout as much as I used to. I've noticed that I've been consistently playing for longer every time I play lol. So thanks for having awesome content and keep it up! It's tough to say whether I'll keep playing more and more with Fallout 76, Doom Eternal, Battlefield 5, Metro Exodus, and Anthem coming out soon.
Those are all games that I know I'm gonna love (except Fallout 76 is kinda sketchy with the whole online-only thing, but we'll see), but, for the time being I've been playing Fallout 4 more than I did even when it first came out, thanks to you. And that will keep up for the next month or two at the least, so we'll see lol.
P.S. You could have just turned their voices down in the audio menu by the way lol. Just a note for future videos if you have that problem again haha

Thanks for the construction tips in your other videos! As a noob, your videos have been priceless. I had no idea half this stuff was even possible. Went into the game blind on purpose. Wanted to feel the thrill of the discoveries. But, could not even figure out which buttons to push! I would return to Sanctuary Hills and everyone was really pissed off at me. I'm like, "Wut"? So, off to youtube to do research and there you were. A little rambly as mentioned in the comments. No worries. That's my biggest complaint with my own videos too.

You've probably figured it out by now, but getting things like stools to face the right way can be made easier by looking for a mark on one when you find the 'front' and using that mark as a guide for all others - they are identical. The wooden stool - the last one in the line in build mode - has the wood grain on the seat, the shortest grain line being the 'back'. The metal benches are the worst because they have no identifying marks, but on first selecting one in build mode it has its 'back' to you. Most seats do.

If your settlements never get to 100% it means one of your settlers is a synth. They've made videos about it. Awesome bunker. I've been trying to figure what to do with Finch farm. Great job!

i adore the tall bunker idea. i used the vault atrium pieces to make a massive warehouse under the highway using the road as the ceiling. i wonder if i could add the same on top?

I wanted to build my own Drinking Buddies for all my home-bases; was so disappointed when I didn't see it after Automatron.
Even after Nuka-World a Nuka-Cola themed set of skins for him could've been nice if you could make more.
I think settelment attacks is based on your defense and the more food/water/junk you have in workshop the more you're attacked. Great video btw
I finally got around to building on the overpass, got my floor pieces laid flush and was so proud. . . Until I realized my front side of it was too close to the edge to build walls 🤣 ended up making the back a big bunkhouse and the front of it I replaced with snappable garden plots so I got my carrot farm out there
lol 8:20 is because you faced the bench the wrong way, that specific bench with no back piece is hard to tell the direction on first go unless you sit in it to test it

I hate the trader programming. I have one AT Finch farm... the doctor and his cow. He sits INSIDE one of my barn floor segments and the cow NEVER comes inside the perimeter walls I have placed. And I have huge slider doors, so it isn't a door thing. AND I have let them both "in" by removing a wall section only to see them trans thru the wall to get back out later. The 'cows' hop over fences and are very hard to coral. I use concrete wall posts and space them off and sink them halfway down and they do not hop or pass thru those. I get a dead cow every now and then where I have seen them hop up on a tub and then fall off and die. So I now have a couple of cow corpses in my coral, but I have six cows in there. All I had to do to get them is set a cow trap and I came back and there was a cow in the trap and three wandering outside it, so the trap algorithms are strange too, because they attract even after they get sprung. I have had three deathclaws over at my site with one in the trap and two wandering the settlement, which I specifically set up to have no settlers and a bunch of traps.
The trick with the red stools is to position them so that the crack you find around the rim faces away from the bar or table that you place them at so that people sit on them in the right direction

Vault resources misc.
Soda fountains and Slocum coffee makers got me from 87 happiness to full 100.at my finch even that wouldn't get it.i added 5 scavenge stations and that did it

to increase your settlement's happiness, remove all robot workers and settlers. Use robots only for caravans, or places where settlement happiness isn't an issue.

Fun factoid: once you place the water purifier, you can use a pillar (rugs, whatever) to move it to any other spot in your settlement.
Jake Finch is pretty useless for anything other than guard duty. Don't waste your time assigning him to anything else.
As for the backless benches and stools, you can use any other chair/bench/what-have-you (with a back or obvious orientation) to orient the seat as you require, then switch to the backless bench/stool which will retain the proper orientation allowing people will sit and face forward.

If you were to use the Vats quest path perk on say, the 5th story or a settlement or deep in Vault 88, it will know exactly where all your built walls & stairways are & bring you the shortest route out of any settlement or building. So it doesn’t make any sense that settlers try to walk into walls all the time & cant see the actual path from point A to point B lol. Obviously it’s different AI, but it’s clearly doable for them to path correctly.

Very nice! Stumbled upon your videos today, and I love them! Definitely earned a sub. Any chance we can see more settlements soon? Also, regarding that settler in the "sniper gear", have you tried swapping the hunter's pelt hood with something like the assault mask or green hood + bandana? I find it looks better with that coat (which is also what my character wears!)

I think if you leave the farm Curie will begin her trek to Red Rocket then you can go back into the settlement.
I kept thinking how you coyld have a pressure plate triggered front door for the bunker with a switch on the inside so you could get out. Then your settlers would never run out to fight threats. Like a fully contained and secure military facility.

My Sanctuary Settlement and the Red Rocket Settlement both have over 850 defense and are rarely attacked.
LOL - some of the settlers are like that (don't care for farming, prefer running around with a gun out). It's amusing. I prefer that to the ones that run into walls almost permanently.
This settlement makes me want to entirely scarp mine and make a better one using your techniques.

I know this is an old video and you probably figured it out already but I'll say it anyways for the benefit of the other students who aren't aware of all the available options. You don't have to wire-in the posters, there are unwired versions (not mods) as well, you just need a nearby power source or conduit. Just keep scrolling to the right of the 'posters' tab and you'll be able to select the unwired versions of the posters. Also once Vault-tec workshop missions are completed you have access to better bathroom fixtures - toilets and sinks.
You are correct. I've just noticed that the wired posters are a little brighter. That's why I used them.

Of course I find this the very next day after I rebuilt Finch Farm when I built on a spawn point
idk if youll read this but its about finch farm not getting attacked. the chances of getting attacked can't go lower than 2% no matter what. meaning you could have a low chance of getting attacked. it resets everyday so you could never get attacked or get attacked a shit ton. also if you don't respond you have a 50/50 chance of winning the defense no matter how good your settlement.
Yeah for some reason this bunker "almost" never gets attacked. But it does sometimes. It's just a really short fight. Not like my other settlements that get raided all the time.

The Fireworks Mortar comes from the Contraptions DLC and is under the Miscellaneous Power section. :)

I know this an old video, but here we go ... the chairs have to be set up near the fire facing it. Like a camp fire 🔥 up close as you cooking marshmallows. And they won’t sit backwards.

@@SkooledZone 5 bloody years and I never knew those existed; that's a Bethesda game. Too bad you can't use them as something like roving settlement beacons, a la the Cambridge Polymer Labs Eyebot.
I built a huge area on the overpass over Greygarden, but the settlers never went up there (I had a deluxe steel fire escape stair system up) I thought the base game had a bug where settlers would only sleep in ground level beds?
You can also build things for them to interact with, like the workout bench or the drink stand and they'll usually spawn where you want them to go. Also helps if you assign vendors. Here is my Greygarden build: czcams.com/video/P6n1-POCUrM/video.html
