When we first got the BF tracker I learned a valuable lesson about sending texts to your wingman. EVERYONE sees it. Division was not impressed about my questioning chalk 1s sexual orientation. Nor by their reply.
NOTE 1. As with the real-world AH-64D, the DCS version cannot exchange data with other aircraft like the F-16C, FA-18C, and A-10C. NOTE 2. From the RPT sub-page of the TSD, you can elect to set the REPLY to automatically (AUTO) send data that is requested of you from other network members, or you can set to OFF and manually reply with the requested data. NOTE 3. As always, these videos provide a preview of an upcoming feature to assist you in understanding a new feature. Later, it is quite possible that the feature will change, and the feature functionality has changed. As much as I’d like to, I lack the time re-record these videos. NOTE 4. Sending and receiving Priority Fire Zones (PFZ) and No Fire Zones (NFZ), FARM reports, and SHOT reports over the datalink are next tasks.
As a licensed German pilot and driver I'll assure you that looking away while driving is way more dangerous than looking away while flying. While drving you are only a few seconds away from hitting the barrier, while flying if you manage to hit something within ten seconds, I'd be surprised.
Looks like a great feature, the possibility to share new targets for example alone is amazing but I also see a great use for sharing "everything" in multiplayer if there are no waypoints set up from the beginning. One person can create the route and then share it with several others.
Wags, I note you mentioned the oft requested DTC function. With the parallel development and roll out of datalink style features across the Hornet, Viper, Warthog II, and Apache, will we see DTC releases similarly for these platforms? Or are they too different in format across the platforms to release that way?
We plan a general, similar format between DTC per aircraft type, but they must vary to a degree based on specific functionality per platform. Once we complete the core systems (like DL), we can then roll out the DTC interface that ties to systems like DL, fuzing, radios, countermeasures, etc.
Hi Wags! Will AI members be capable to use the DL functionality as well? I.e. where it makes sense - so probably not sending free text messages, but for example reacting properly to "request" messages?
