The UN Climate Change Conference (COP 26) in Glasgow, United Kingdom is a crucial opportunity to achieve pivotal, transformational change in global climate policy and action. It is a credibility test for global efforts to address climate change and it is where Parties must make considerable progress to reach consensus on issues they have been discussing for several years. COP 26 comes against the background of widespread, rapid and intensifying climate change impacts, which are already impacting every region on Earth. Also, COP 26 comes against the background of the COVID-19 pandemic, with the urgent need to build back better for present future generations to ensure a safe future.
The UNFCCC secretariat (UN Climate Change) is the United Nations entity tasked with supporting the global response to the threat of climate change. UNFCCC stands for United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. The Convention has near universal membership (197 Parties) and is the parent treaty of the 2015 Paris Agreement. The main aim of the Paris Agreement is to keep the global average temperature rise this century as close as possible to 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels. The UNFCCC is also the parent treaty of the 1997 Kyoto Protocol. The ultimate objective of all three agreements under the UNFCCC is to stabilize greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere at a level that will prevent dangerous human interference with the climate system, in a time frame which allows ecosystems to adapt naturally and enables sustainable development.

The very power to bring the big financial institutions and corporate interests to make good on their promises lies not in the hands of NGOs or governments, it never has and never will. No matter how much you regulate, and how many different policies you put out there, there are a myriad of accountants and lawyers that will turn skirting those policies into a profit center(General Electric). Real change, real actual sustainable change lies in the hands of the consumer, and no matter what you do pressure, threats, and promises will not change consumer behavior. What changes consumer behavior is an incentive. BMW isn't going to stop manufacturing the X7, Mercedes GLE, or the Ford Expedition just because of us applauding a speech. We need to offer alternatives and give the consumer a reason for them to want to choose a different product. Anything else will just be more likes and similar to all the "powerful people" in this video empty accolades.

For me, the light went on during 2020 when gas prices decreased and ecosystems started rebounding as people stopped consuming so much. And now consumption is back up with a vengeance. We have to confront our addiction to materialism. When people weren't driving cars as much during 2020, the fossil fuel industries were demanding subsidies. They're not in charge, we are. The other consumers with a lot of responsibility to halt their destructive consumption are the military and the ultra rich.

Endless talking and blaming does not solve this hard pressing anticipated global crises ahead of us. All energy and resources must focus on saving the planet. Deferring action target to next year is one year lost and placing the earth to irreversible vulnerability. Hence, reckon UN should consider a Global Treaty that all countries cease military productions and channel these funding, energies and resources in developing and implementing green initiatives till the target is reach. Without a bold extraordinary Global actions, it will be disaster for all mankind.
Go to one of your windows facing outside and tell me if you feel like you are "on the verge of the abyss". I'm sure it's not perfect. For some it will actually be lovely, and more work needs to be done for sure. But can we have an actual estimation or acknowledgement to the progress that has been made, for more than two seconds in these speeches? We are clearly having an impact on the weather of the planet, but can we stop it with the dramatic speeches and the apocalyptic scenarios? More work and money is being put into this problem every year and it will continue to do so. I commend her for her speech, but I think we should be more calm and rational about this, we should stop paying so much attention to anecdotal cases, we should include military contributions to pollution in all of our measurements if we want to talk about a problem for which we need every variable included, and finally we should be more appreciative for the work that has been done so far and it's ongoing development.

The IPCC are "paid scientists"...do you know what a paid scientist does? Yes! He says what he is told to say. The entire panel is a bought and paid for science panel.
