    Lots to dive in here, but the number one question that we get with Napoleon grills, is what is the difference between the Rogue and The Prestige models? Is the prestige a nicer grill? Well we get that question a lot, and its time to answer that today.
    First off lets talk about the strategy from a manufacturing standpoint or a retailer standpoint. The idea is, the Rogue line up is really more geared to the hardware channels and the big box suppliers, with mass volume type customers that are usually in a cheaper price point. Where the prestige is more designed to a specialty bbq store with a higher dollar amount usually. So that’s why we are seeing a difference. Now lets talk about what is actually different physically between these two grills. The prestige has blue lights and the color changes when the burners are on to red. So that is a nice safety feature. The Rogue gas grill does not offer anything like that. With just the white LED Lighting in this grill. When you get under the hood of these grills you really start to see a difference. The hood systems are are different, the rogue uses a hinge hood system that doesn’t quite perform as well, the prestige has a rolling hood that is going to help keep heat in better. Now the cooking grates themselves are different too. The Rogue has thinner Stainless steel grates and the Napoleon has thicker ones. What else is different is the prestige comes standard with a rotisserie kit, whereas on the rogue it needs to be ordered. The rogue is made in China and the prestige is made in Canada. Also the warranties are different. The Rogue only offers a 15 year warranty whereas the prestige offers a lifetime warranty. I think the choice is pretty obvious, if you have the cash and can swing it, get the prestige. If your on a budget take a look at the Rogue XT. Its my favorite grill for under $1,000

    In Finland (spring -21) cheapest Prestige (500) is about double the price of SE 425. After watching your awesome videos I ordered SE 425 over Weber Genesis II, which is at same price point if it has enclosed pedestal (which costs hundreds more over open cart model). Cant wait to get my first Napoleon and try out that Sizzle zone!

    Very nicely done! One thing I would add in favor of the Prestige is that it includes a wind barrier. It’s that long metal piece that sits on the hood insert. If a grill lives in a high-wind area, and especially if the back of the grill faces the wind, you’ll get your knobs melted without it.

    Great comparison, thanks a bunch. I will say when I read the warranty details I found the differences between the Roque and Prestige are really not that much. The Prestige lifetime warranty does not cover everything, it's really just things you would not expect to fail like stainless hood, cast aluminum parts and stainless burners. The Roque has 15 on everything so it's pretty similar. The Prestige bumper to bumper lifetime warranty is kind of misleading IMHO

    Hi Trevor, tks for your videos, I am convinced on a napoleon after being a long time weber guy. I live in Spain, and different from Denver, here the se 525 goes for 1.6 k euro compared to 2.1 k for the prestige 500. I saw them last weekend and while the prestige had few more bells and whistles, feels like the rogue is the best choice given the wide price tag difference. Not sure why it is more expensive over there ane cheaper here though...

    I haven't found a concrete answer to this but it's my understanding that the rogue is made in China vs. the prestige that is made in Canada. Can you confirm this?

    • @embersliving
      @embersliving  Před 4 lety +4

      Yes that is correct

    • @SP-lp3yu
      @SP-lp3yu Před 2 lety

      Is confirmed. Can't believe this isn't mentioned. HUGE points to the Prestige. Also, the Prestige's firebox is DUAL walled (making for better heat retention, especially in Canadian winter!), whereas Rogue SE is single walled.

    It would've been interesting to hear your coclusion given the huge price difference we have in Denmark... well, Europe really ;-)

    Comparing the 5 burner Prestige V Rogue, Rogue is much cheaper. 4 burner Prestige V Rogue, Rogue is much cheaper. The only time Prestige V Rogue is the similar price is 4 burner Prestige vs 5 burner Rogue. Went with the Rouge because of price, and I don't care about the rotisserie.

      prestige cause of the two piece hood, lets less heat out and is better in the wind

    according the napoleons website, the Rouges are made in China, the other grills are from North America .

    Hey Trevor, I actually work for the Napoleon head office here in Barrie Ontario Canada where these grills (or the Prestige models, anyway) are made... I'll let you all in on a little secret: NO ONE knows why the Rogue SE 525 (which is the same size/functionality as the Prestige 500 RSIB) is more expensive. It's a massive conspiracy - I'm talking Epstein/Clinton levels of intrigue here. People disappear when they ask these kinds of questions. So anyway thanks for addressing the topic, but after watching the whole video I have to say I'm not sure you did actually answer the question (though maybe that's a good thing).

    I live in Ontario, Canada. A friend and I always assumed Napoleon Barbecues were manufactured at a plant near Barrie, Ontario. WRONG! He bought a new Napoleon Barbecue and, as he was tearing open the carton, there was a label that said Engineered In Canada, Made In China! What the f*%k? Isn't ANYTHING mad in North America any more?

    • @embersliving
      @embersliving  Před 2 lety

      He bought a rogue. Rogue is the china made price point grill. All prestige grills are made in Barrie. He just bought the wrong one

    There is a lot of talk about aesthetics and not a whole lot about performance. Looks do matter, but I rather see an ugly grill that works well than a good one that doesn't.

    • @embersliving

      they perform similar, biggest difference is going to be the better lid with the prestige to help with wind
