    You realize every other linear fireplace can do the same thing right? Mendota is garbage. Johnson Gas is Garbage. Their do not support the product... and all their testing on new units happens in the field at dealer's expense. You should quit talking them up so much.

    I was going to buy a Weber until I saw this video. I'm convinced on the Prestige 500 (still even better than the Genesis S-435 wouldn't you say?). I'm located in Canada and was looking on the Napolean site. Why would natural gas model be cheaper than propane? I always thought NG was more expensive due to the "convenience" factor.

    I bought a Green Egg and was unable to master the air regulation. It would either get too hot or the coals would die if I tried doing a long term cook. The blower accessory would have been the solution but I have decided it may be time to return to a gas grill or try the new Weber pellet.

    Agree completely on the Inception. I'm a dealer in New Jersey, and when they sent out the first videos, we were really excited for it. When we got it in, not as much. From afar it's a great look, but when you get within 10 feet of it, totally loses the look. The Opti-V, we were at the National Convention maybe six or seven years ago, and they displayed a traditional one with a huge viewing area and said it was coming, but never heard a single thing about it after. Was disappointing. Enjoyed your video taking us through the years. Cheers.

    Looking at reviews ofWeber kettle grills on Amazon, the common theme seems to be poor fitting covers and some shoddy workmanship on the air vents. If you want to smoke then you need a tight fitting cover to get accurate temp control. Overall I agree the Napoleon pro is the best of the bunch. From what I can discern their quality control is better. Dollar for Dollar the Napoleon is better. Over the years Weber has relied too much on their rep instead of better quality. Just my opinion. I used to be a Weber fan from twenty years ago, but no longer.

  • @jeffgough
    @jeffgough Před 5 dny

    Personally, I prefer an open flame (like the Kalamazoo). Also, I wish Heston (and Kalamazoo) used a Biscotto stone (organic and porous clay/stone from Italy) instead of ceramic; these facilitate less moisture build up under the dough. Also would be nice if they put the burner on the side instead of the back. This better allows the cook to visually monitor the side of the pizza getting blasted with heat; when it's in the back to only way to get a good look is to turn the pizza around. Also surprised they don't have a burner under the stone like many others do. Great looking pizza oven, but I don't think they're quite there yet.

    Napoleon Prestige 500 non pro series is a great grill. It compares in price to the Weber S-435 at $1499 USD. The Napoleon has some weakness vs. the Weber S-435. No side storage. Storage under grill is limited by the supports. Doors are cheaply made. The cabinet feels flimsy compared to the Weber. Difficult to put together. The biggest disadvantage for the Napoleon is that it is a much smaller grill for the same price. The Weber has 32% more cooking area for the same price. As the gentleman says in his comparison, features inside the box matter more. Grill size conveniently left out of discussion in his comparison video. If you want a grill the same size as the Weber S-435, you will need to move up to the Prestige 665 which costs $500 more than the equivalent size Weber. The Weber crafted kitchen accessories are very nice. For an additional $300 you can get a smart version of the Weber grill but I think for most people they would be better off getting an infrared thermometer, a quick probe and a probe/ambient temperature alarm system. The Napoleon has some real advantages. The infrared side burner is marginally better than the Weber searing station with the cast iron searing grate. The internal Weber searing station does a great job without using up your side burner. It gets more than hot enough . The rear infrared might make a slight difference when using a rotisserie but frankly I am skeptical. If anything the danger of overcooking the chicken increases with an infrared burner. The Weber is able to maintain a perfect roasting temperature so the difference is minimal. The nice thing is that the Napoleon comes with a rotisserie. You will need to spend extra money to get the Weber rotisserie or an aftermarket rotisserie which is much better than the OEM. The rotisserie is an additional $150 USD. The Napoleon has a more convenient lighting system and nice knobs that are lit and visually show you they are on by change color to red. This is a nice safety and convenience feature. The Napoleon warranty seems better. It is a lifetime on the lid ,grates,castings and stainless steel cook box base. Weber only has a 12 year on these parts. The non-infrared burners etc have the same 10 year warrant as Weber. Weber has a 5 year on non-listed parts. Napoleon has a 2 year on non-listed parts. Those fancy Napoleon infrared burners only have a 5 year warranty and they are expensive to replace. I doubt Napoleon will be able to live up to its warranty 20 years from now when they don't make the part. Maybe they can. So the decision is far from obvious, You might opt for more grill vs. fancy features that might not really make a meaningful difference. I chose the Weber S-435 because I don't like clutter and the Weber crafted accessories fit in the side cabinet and under the grill. I know it is easier to find replacement parts for the Weber. Weber is everywhere. I had to go to a specialty shop just to see a Napoleon put together. Did I mention that they wanted to charge me over $300 to assemble and deliver. The Weber installation was flawless. I like my decision. I got a much larger grill for my money.

    Ok I finally took the plunge and bought the Napoleon Prestige Phantom...I gave away my Weber limited edition with sear burner and side burner. Assembly was pretty easy and time consuming if you follow directions. I must say I am not impressed. First of all the doors in my opinion suck. I found getting an even gap difficult. Second I find the grease tray very small. Third the rotisserie takes forever. As I write this a 7lb chicken has been on for 2 1/2 hours and still not done using the infrared burner. I seared some steaks on the side infrared burner and truthfully it was no better than on the Weber with sear burner. I find myself constantly freaking out to clean the matte black finish if anything drips on it and I bought rubber matts on Amazon for the side shelves so utensils or plates do not scratch shelves. If you are upgrading from a char broil grill or a Home Depot grill then I highly recommend it. If you have an older higher end Weber in good shape I would save the money. I am just happy I did not spend the extra 500 for the Napoleon pro with the lights which I almost did

    That was an incredibly informative, enjoyable review mate. I have a last generation Genesis 2 and I have been considering what to get next. After watching this very helpful video I am thinking the new summit, even with all its improvements might not be worth it. I might just get the latest Genesis with 4-5 burners. My current is only a 3 burner. Thank you very much for sharing this video. New sub and regards from Australia!
