I really like the fact you can still use it as a traditional kamado or the convenience of electronics

Awesome review, Trevor! Thank you for being so detailed. You're right, for a newbie - connected Joe. For experienced - classic Joe...for someone super anal about ceramic grills - why not get both, lol?

First off let me say I appreciate you taking the time to make these videos, I find them informative. I have nothing against the Konnected Joe, however I still prefer my Big Joe III. If Kamado Joe decides to sell a Big Joe version of the Konnected Joe then I may think about purchasing one. My suggestion to someone new in the Kamado world is to invest in a quality thermometer. Personally I have the Signals BBQ Thermometer with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, this has never disappointed me. Along with that I would recommend the Thermapen One for a quick temperature check. Normally I smoke Briskets or Pork Butts overnight, if my temp starts to increase or decrease an alarm will sound on my phone. After getting used to vent control the likelihood of being alerted during the night is severely decreased. Another item I suggest to purchase is a good cooler, I personally have a Yeti 45 that I preheat and place the meat in, i've kept a brisket for up to 18 hours before and still come out excellent. Really the hardest part about getting started out is spending money on all the tools to make your cook expierence easier. I do agree the most fun is lighting the Joe with my grill gun / flamethrower haha, the practicality factor is a one however the cool factor is a ten! Happy Grilling Everyone!

Wow! Tech is moving quick. This is a tough one. I like the classic. If I’m running around with the kiddies and doing errands, I can see how the techie one can be of a great help. Cheers.

Living in the windiest city in the world, I use a FireBoard Drive 2.
It really makes controlling temp much easier when winds are gusting.

I bought one of these and love it. I have a Napoleon gas grill and I have a pellet grill as well, but I missed charcoal flavor. I know myself well enough that if something isnt convenient im not going to use it. I was on the verge of buying a gravity fed charcoal grill when I discovered the connected Joe. Compared to a pellet grill its slightly more work because you have to move accessories to load the charcoal. The trade off is worth it to get the charcoal flavor I prefer with an easy temperature control. 3-2-1 ribs and reverse seared tomahawks are a breeze.

Part of the fun to me is getting my kamado dialed in. If I can get it to dial in on the first try, it feels like I accomplished something. If I can get it to be manageable on a windy day, success. That said, the set and forget aspect is nothing to sneeze at either. Although added electronics means added stuff to go bad too. I'd go with the Classic 3 for those reasons.

I agree, the simplicity of a bare bones charcoal grill is to be considered. The biggest reason I did not get a pellet grill is due to the electronics and fear of them not lasting.

Great review. The classic iii is the one for me…

I would go with the classic 3 because of cooking space and I do not have to worry about if the electronics on the grill goes out. Also I like to use my grillblazer grill gun to start my fires when it is mid spring to late fall. Then I use Fogo fire starters through the winter. I jealous devil and fogo it just depends on what I am cooking.

Can I use it when it’s raining? I don’t stop grilling during winter, so it has to be an all year device.

I don't like dealing with anything electronic due to the fact you have to use them next to a power source, and they always break at some point. Non electric is my preference.

Great point we deal with a lot of electronic problems with pellet smokers because of the mechanics
