Played through this game. I’m that one person who would grind till I felt comfortable. This is definitely a great game, and am so happy to see it get a remake.

@@zaneheaston8254 like, maybe 5 or so levels over what is normal. Steam rolled Smithy in the original, and had him stay in his wizard head cause everyone in my party did massive physical damage.
I love how Brent keeps acknowledging the amazing ost, its made by Yoko Shimomura, and honestly, shes one of my favorite composers after hearing her work from the M&L series as well as Kingdom Hearts
So fun fact about the Culex fight: Culex himself has 4k hp, the earth crystal has 3600 hp, the water crystal has 2400 hp, the fire crystal has 1200 hp and the wind crystal has a paltry 800 hp. Ironically, the wind crystal has the least amount of hp but the most annoying attack in the form of petal blast. A good set of items to use in this fight is the Safety Ring accessory and the Lazy Shell armor as they both make you immune to elemental damage. The Super Suit also does this but its near impossible to get for us normal plebs so don't count on it.

Man, when Brent referenced SMBZ, I just had flashbacks of nostalgia. A bit sad that it was left cliffhanger, but I do know that the creator did a remake of Episode 1.
And setting aside of what happened in Twitter (he had some close-minded opinions that many disagree with, but he apologized for that), I hope he's doing well. And yes, he's still doing the remake as his last post of progress is around Sep 22 talking about how Episode 3 is taking long. Hopefully, he balances his personal life and his remake project.
If you told me a year ago that the mario rpgs would return to it's glory I would've never believed you.

Fun Fact: When you hit certain numbers of successful Super Jumps will make the timing more strict up to a point.
Loved the playthrough looks like ya missed the Saftey Pin in the ship though. In one of the rooms before the shark biss there is a massive pile of barrels. You can walk too the left of the barrels and go into them revealing a secret room. The saftey pin reads 'Protects against Mortal Blows' in game it translates to immunues you from Elemental attacks, All Status Aliments, and prevents instant KO's. I wonder if it'll be fixed in the remake cause getting an item that broken that early is messed up.
They also have the description for the safety badge wrong. It says “prevents mute and fear attacks” but it actually protects against all status effects, just not element attacks and OHKOs.

This game is the precursor to all the Mario and Luigi titles, and I’ll always respect it for that.
I played a little bit of this game, but got frustrated as I didn’t know the controls well and didn’t want to look up a guide as I was stubborn.
Origami King may not have good of designs but it’s story is up there with Thousand Year Door in my opinion
Man I just got done playing the remake which was my first time with this game and what a blast I’m astonished how they kept everything aside from mallow calling Mario Bruce lee and enemy and attack name changes since if you can believe it the original was slightly mistranslated

Yo Brent, will you try getting the 100 jumps witj the super jump in the remake? ( If you do so and talk to a NPC, you get the most busted suit in the game: the super suit)
So, i googled it, for the remake. Fear does the opposite of Geno Boost. If you use Geno Boost on a scared character, you are fighting normally
Heard you enjoy Bowser’s Inside Story. I think you should play the DX version on 3DS, mainly because the original has you use the mic in some parts of the game, but that was removed in the DX version.

I still dont understand why Brent didnt equip the Lazy Shell Weapon at least. Its Mario's biggest damage potential.
And tbh, while the Lazy Shell equipment does have stupid high defenses, it also decreases the wearer's Atk and Spd, so its not suoer broken. *Unlike the Super Suit.*
Yeah, looking at thr exact stats, while the Lazy Shell increases Defense and Magic Defense by 127 points, it decreases Attack, Magic Attack, and Speed by 50 points.
