DFTBA: store.dftba.com/collections/d... - Komedie
dont forget the guy who is a master at making sure the adaptation spends most of the screen time explaining the story to you like youre a five year old
Producer guy: "You! Make sure you tell, not show."
Screenwriter: "Will do nothing but!"
Narrator?
@@mirjanbouma No, a narrator narrates, that means being artfull and skilled at storytelling, think Dr. Seuss. No, he means something more like a bad toddler's cartoon, where they take more time telling the poor kid "this is this" than actually telling something or value or even entertaining them.
I see you've watched the new Avatar that definitely needed to happen because cartoons are for children and never for adults.
Ooo, I love that guy! He should get a raise
Director: "What can't you do?"
VFX guy: "Pay my rent."
Oof
He wasn't already evicted? Impressive.
@@zUJ7EjVD Credit, my dude, better sell your soul to the devil than in the streets.
And you already know that he's going to be the guy forced to put in the most work hours in this room.
That's what they get for not Unionizing. They get all the work, none of the pay. It's a problem... but not for the rent-seeking investors! Hey, hooooo!
Revenue is for the nobility, not the poors.
@@Alex.R.L I an ideal world, they'd be paid fairly and given reasonable work hours. Sadly the VFX industry is brutal and unforgiving despite the work they put in into making these properties look so good. Public opinion of the work often heavily hinges on the quality of the writing, and if the writing is bad, all the other work put in becomes severely under appreciated by those outside the field. The good news is, some VFX artists are in fact unionising. It's called the VFX Union, or International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees Visual Effects Union (IATSE SFX Union). And to Marvel Studios and other productions who rush deadlines and screw over their VFX artists; shame on you.
"Where are the original creators?"
"Off set."
"Good. They weren't invited."
Ah yes, the old "if the creator isn't involved, I'm not interested". Never liked this logic tbh. Make up your own minds on if a show is good, don't just blindly follow the original creator. If something is bad, then it's bad, if it's good it's good.
@@Dribbleondo Oda was consulted and the live-action One Piece was good. The changes even enhanced this early saga.
@@Dribbleondoyou say that like there's not an obvious correlation
@@Dribbleondo Good Omens. Sandman. Princess Bride. One Piece. There's a lot of examples of adaptations being quality when the original creator is involved. Of course there are counterexamples, like when the original creator doesn't actually give a crap (not naming you, author that starts with a G and ends with a R R Martin), or when they involve the creator for one season only to attract viewers and then run the show into the ground (hello, American Gods), but overall, it seems to me that having them improves the rate of success.
And then there are the cases where the adaptation is better than the original, but those are rare enough not to be considered.
@@DribbleondoIf they could have the original creator and chose not to, why bother? Make up a new idea at that point
"Writer's wife" was a real strong mood.
Real George Lucas Vibes
Very edgy.
What is that even a reference to?
cough*George Lucas' wife Marcia Lucas*cough
It might also be a reference to Harriet McDougal, wife of Robert Jordan. His book series was turned into a series recently, which she was a consultant on, and it is...
INSANELY BAD!! Like, the casting? Nothing wrong with it. Costume design? Okay, for the most part. Set design? It's allright. But writing? How do you release TWO SEASONS, and manage to screw up the final episodes SO DAMN MUCH!!!!!
Studio: "We made a few changes to improve on the source material."
Studio, later: "We tried something different, therefore your criticism comparing the adaptation with the source material is invalid."
"I don't care what my teacher said! My grandma said Cleopatra is black!"
@@Acueil This was the most embarrassing one, and I think its a glimpse into the what the future far left will look like. Yea I hope we don't have to deal with that ridiculousness either, but its giving me a feeling of de ja vu thinking about what was ridiculous 15 years ago vs now.
"We're not making it for the fans of the original, but also we'll blame the fans of the original if it does poorly"
"You can't think of it as the original, it's it's own new take, that's why there are multiple jokes and references that only make sense if you are familiar with the original."
0:30 The negative energy of "I do not." straight into the camera was pure catharis.
I like the fact that he intentionally said it directly to the camera.
If anything, I think it takes away from the sketch. That one line almost made up for every other heinous thing he said.
If you're on PC you can click on any photo and hover over the "share" button, the string is still called "retweets". It is literally still Twitter in the code.

Forgot the "For Modern Audiences"
It's simplified. He says "modern live-action series" so he can hit the "modern audience beat at the same time as the "no one asked for this live-action remake" beat.
It's his first sentence.

I mean, who do you think wrote this sketch?
This really hits home for the Halo tv show in particular. They had NO ONE on set who was a fan of the original, and the most experienced sci-fi person on set had a role in The Truman Show.
Except for the sound track. The sound track for Halo is awful. IDK how they messed that up lol
@NemoGraynameA8 Oh, it's involved in a lawsuit! They legally couldn't until it was resolved! Which begs the question why they went through with filming when that critical component is missing...
@@SuperODST1 it was adapted about as faithfully as starshiptroopers. but wasnt actually funny enough to excuse its divergence.
@@icesharkk6399 Yeah, at least starship troopers felt like a complete thing in a unified universe, even if it was similar only in name.
I love that you can feel the pain in practically every sentence.
“How about all of Twitter?”
“You mean X?”
“I do not.”
Yep, seems about right
There is an alternate reality where the only thing that is changed from this reality is that the gay stuff wasn't removed and twitter is still angry, for having gay stuff in the adaptation.
The Kyliverse grows.
Also, forgot the PR hit team responsible for telling certain people the movie isn’t for them, then attacking them when they don’t pay to see it.
Legal team bigger than all the other teams put together?
They don't fit into the room
"Lightng tehcnician?"
"..What?"
"Oh, sorry. I don't know what came over me. Not even sure what that is, haha. Anyway, let's get those orange/blue softboxes set up, they'll really make every shot look cinematic. Every shot."
These adaptations don't seem like they take too much work for companies to make. They must be super easy, barely an inconvenience.

It's funny to me how many small operations on CZcams manage to put out funnier and more interesting content than huge production companies.
The indie darling forgiveness mindset. It's only good if someone small makes it, and even if it has problems, they're small and indie, we can forgive a few issues!
@@Dribbleondo "Only good."
Wooow. "Good" isn't good enough anymore, huh? Let me guess, you're the kind of person who uses the 10-point scale like games journalists and go from 7-10 instead of 1-10, ey?
@@Dribbleondo LoL. The vast majority of small, indie productions are garbage.
But, some of them are amazing and manage to produce content that is just plain better than things produced by organizations with far larger budgetary constraints.
The percentage of small, indie operations that are legitimately good is small, but there are still a surprising number of them.
@CoralCopperHead their comment was dumb, but you misread it, so it's dumb for different reasons that you think.
They werent using only to apply a limit, as in only good, not great; they were using it in opposition to bad, as in 'you call this good rather than bad only because you're being more forgiving of an indie operation than you would a huge organisation'.
Big budget companies have a lot of people to please, which typically grinds down interesting original stuff into widely palatable minimum-profit-guaranteed.
