5 Things I Hate About Project Cars 2

- It's no secret that I think that Project Cars 2 is one of the best racing games available, and since its full release a few days ago the whole world has been turning laps. There is no doubt that PCars 2 is one heck of a racing title, but as always there are a few things that I think need to be improved. So here you have it... here are my 5 things I hate about Project Cars 2!

One thing what i hate on project cars 2 is track limits! when one wheel goes over the curb it says i have to slow down to avoid penalty😱👎
Sometimes even half a wheel. It's the dumbest thing ever!
@@robbybahnsen_15R you can turn it off from settings
Especially in test sessions where it you get half a tire off the road it invalidates your lap
@@davidhonkstvorisit4811 u can turn them off from the settings
going over the curb makes your lap time slower anyways.
The penalty system is overly sensitive. There's almost no room for error whatsoever. I used to think PC1 was bad, but 2 is even worse. I barely go over the curb and its screaming at me to slow down to avoid a penalty. I get they're trying to prevent corner cutting, but my god its annoying. Especially when you overshoot a corner in the last sector in qualifying and it invalidates both the current AND next lap. Just because you drove 3 feet off course for a split second.
Online needs major help. It takes way too long to get into a race because the servers are too slow. It also prevents full field races (I rarely see any single event with more than 6-7 players at once).
The spectating feature makes this 10x worse, and the fact the race info tab is wrong most of the time (says the cars are qualifying or practicing but in truth they've already started racing and the game is unjoinable to actually race) means I'm spending an easy 10+ minutes looking for a suitable race. Spectating needs to be removed or at least moved to a different page. I'm on the game because I want to drive, not watch 6 other people.
Its a really good game, but it needs serious help right now.
The cutting is harsh but i would rather take the extra time to keep lines tidy than having everyone doing cross country every corner. Its annoying but meh, can deal with it.
Certainly agree on the time between races. Unless you hop between lobbies it can really take a long time to get going again. I think iRacing and now GT sport have the best system where by the races are at set times and its upto the player to qualify and join in time. Much better system imo and it should appear in more sims.
It's actually stricter than real life, I've done things which wouldn't count as cutting on the real life track and had a penalty. Also in real life if you run off due to an error and lose time, you wouldn't then also get a penalty for track limits but that often happens in the game.
Marc Waller hacks me off when u go wide, slow down a bit before rejoining and it still gives ya slow down.. like cmon ive already slowed
__Boomer2__ WoTB True!!!
Gran Turismo Sport is the same way, the sportsman rating is even worse, if someone hits you your SR goes down. Just yesterday a went to avoid a crash and steered off the track to keep from t boning someone and they clipped my rear bumper, not only did i get a 5 second penalty for going off the track my SR went down! I almost dont even like racing online because of it. I understand penalizing people who hit other intentionally and it seems like as smart as these games are the algorithms used should be able to differentiate between an accidental bump and an intentional hit

Now its married again
:D
Same
@@tractionmedia this is actually how it looks when gpu overclock fails or drivers has serious bugs
surely i thought about it too XD. already happen for me before when my old gpu died after having this artefact and when i check it, the waterblock was leaking and dripping directly to the gpu, and because of this video i immidiatly shutting down my pc and open the pc case but it was nothing, no water was leaking. then i try to watch this video on my phone then, wtf XD
I don't understand that they added cars & tracks where you can do endurance racing, but they still didn't added a save function during mid sessions. Like what is the point of doing long hours of sessions then? And this isn't just applies to PC2 but to the other modern sims too.
Stigie survival?
I know right, a driver at LeMans 24hr wont even drive for 24hr straight, there a 3 person team who take shifts, kinda stupid gotta go for 24hr straight
Dylan Van Rensburg Gamers vs. Real Life Racers...nuff said
Dylan Van Rensburg Stupid? More like Trackmania 2 MLGxESL leagues INSANE!!!...cardiac arrest much?
Choose swap driver in the In Car Menu and then make a pit stop and the AI will take control while you are away. When you come back choose swap driver again and make a pit stop and you will take control again at the end of the pit stop. I just recently discovered how to do that myself. Have fun.
So this "Pendulum Effect" you're talking about, is commonly referred to in real life as a "tank slapper". Next time you have to catch the rear of the car and you feel like its going to start the "pendulum", just let go of the steering wheel. The car should straighten up and you can drive out of it.
I think that also depends on the type of steering wheel you are using.
HAHAHA, yeah thats what you see all those race car drivers do when they have a moment. They just let go of the wheel. Thats why they get payed the big bucks.... LMAO
Also an appropriate setting of the Roll bars, helps a lot, and sometimes close the "release differential, and the preload on the front and in the back), can help a lot
Wow you forgot
1. No matchmaking system only open lobbies where everyone only wants to play one track and GT 3 cars.
2. The sound bug where the reving sound gets stuck for a while.
3. No organized races
4. Countless disconnects
I love the game to but there is a lot of flaws
You want to compare all you just notified, with all the other race simulations ??? ( beside Iracing obviously, but is the onlyone )
The first corner with humans is also a disaster :P
my dream game would be the content and graphics of PC2 with the physics and AI of RACEROOM
jurgen bussche I’d say the graphics and weather physics of DRIVECLUB.
For me physic of Pc2 it is better than Raceroom, but lightyears guys...
And the online ability’s of I racing
There's only 1 thing wrong with PC2, YOU CANT GO WITHOUT SPINNING OUT.
learn to drive the cars..
But seriously i suggest you watch some on the vidéos on youtube. Personnaly i watched RickyBrosh he made a lits of vidéo about everything about project cars 2.
This not games fault this is your fault because you are not braking and accelerating in right times and you go full throttle into corner. Dont worry its a simulation that need time to learn racing technics.
AI
AI
AI
Some cars being more developed than others
AI
I don't think it is like you guys say ( I used to , but now not anymore ) , I noticed, that spending a good ammount of time in tuning , you can make one car , from weird behaving , till become as any other. .. specially the "caster corner " and "stiffness of suspension " are highly wrong settled on default, which makes normal that cars behave weird
I'm back with AC. The AI in PC2 ruins the experience for me. Try racing a Porsche GT3 RS around Monza, only with ai at around 50% do they NOT bump you off at the 1st turn. I found AC really to be a much better experience.
For me it’s the inconsistency. I do a test session and the car handles great, then I load a race in the same car, same track and conditions, and I can’t even put the power down without spinning out. I just randomly lose it in corners when I’m taking it exactly the same as I did in the test. It gets old after a while.
Hey Dan, great video! I've only recently found your channel, but you've quickly become one of my favourites.
You bring up some great points here. This is a great sim. Interestingly, my most hated on video was when I expanded in your point #1, and said there were tiers to the cars. Fanboys lost their minds. The only point you and I disagree on is #5. As much as I love this sim, the lack of user-created mods is a big deal to me. I doubt this would happen, but if SMS would open the game to mods, this would for sure be my favourite. As of right now, Assetto Corsa's modding community (Race Sim Studio, ASR Formula, VRC, etc.) keep me coming back. But that's splitting hairs, overall I agree with your 5 points.
Anyway Dan, keep up the fantastic work! You make great videos.
SimRacing604 Thanks man! Been watching your videos for quite some time now as well. And oh how I love the "fan boys" of any sim lol. I figured out a long time ago you have to have thick skin doing this CZcams thing lol. Overall I really enjoy pcars but I really enjoy most sims. I feel like they all have at least one or two really good things about them yet none are perfect. Any time you want to colab or toss thoughts about a particular sim let me know! Thanks again!
PCars2 is not a "simcade". It does some things better than other simulators, and it does some things worse than other simulators. But it definately is a great simulator
Dan81369 exactly dan and you cant compare forza or gt to pc2 or assetto etc its comparing apples and oranges
What about games like rfactor, automobilista or race room? Still comparable to project cars? :D
as i stated above, they do some things better than pcars2 and they do some things worse than pcars2. simple as that.
@dan dont make me laugh. game is fine with a pad but with a wheel is simply horrible. pc2 is simcade and your fanboy comment cant change it.
@avblah
lets work this out together... "simcade" is a combination of the two words "simulator" and "arcade", right? So, do you know the definition of arcade? Arcade is a type of game that gets progressively harder. Doesnt fit to PCars2, does it? PCars2 *simulates* Dynamic Racing Environment (it is not perfect in doing that, but it is *simulating* it). It *simulates* Dynamic Weather (imo better than any other even just racing themed game or simulator out there). It is not an arcade and it simulates something. Well, what is it if not a simulator?
I might be a slight fanboy, but you have to admit, i stated facts, you were just ranting on the game with no proof at all.
My problem with pc2 is I can't feel where the car is going, if it's going to slide etc. The ffb doesn't give enough info
It’s your wheels ffb invest in a better wheel if you have the money invest in multiple wheels for certain cars
@@amandapowell9947 not really that worth of I need to buy ddw to enjoy the game, g27 works fine on other games so why couldn't they have tweaked it to work in pc2?
IDK about visual polish but P-Cars has always had the issue of: A few cars that are amazing to drive and pretty much that's all anyone ever races with. And: A bunch of cars that are un-drivable. This sucks when you look forward to driving a car that's supposed to be amazing IRL only to find out its complete garbage in the game.
You can accelerate whilst the lights are on green, drive to the front and lead the race from the off... my fave mechanic of the game...
The one think that I absolutely hate about Project Cars 2 is the lack of a custom grid feature. Same with pCars 1.
It’s nice finally got multi class racing done correctly for the most part. The problem is the game cannot pick a balanced field of cars for a single player race...it’s broken still.
10 BMW M6 GT3, 4 Aston Martins GT3s, 5 Cadillacs GT3s and Zero Ferrari’s Or any of the other 20 cars available in the GT3 class.
Race after race after race. It absolutely kills immersion for me.
What I don't like and almost noone else seems to have a problem with, is that there's just one percentage for the opponent-strength rather than allowing me to set a minimum and a maxium. That often leads to me either being too slow or too fast and not somewhere in the field.
Something that I found about the game that I don't like is that the handling for many cars doesn't transfer between test sessions and actual races. I'd been driving an Indycar at Watkins Glenn, and in test sessions, the car handled just fine. Then when when I move to the race session, the car kept turning hard left at the top of the S'es (I was using the stable setup on both occasions by the way). I've noticed similar things happening with otber cars where they'll turn hard right or hard left when coming out of a corner. It happens on standing starts as well. Other times, the car feels fine in a test session, but then in the race, it's like the car can't stay in a sraight line. I just don't get what's happening because i test sessions, the car behaves completely fine. I really enjoy this game, but this has been bugging me for a while now, and I don't know what to do.
I have noticed this to. It really pisses me off when I spend a lot of time fine tuning a car in a test and then try to race and then have the car not work.
Pcars2 is just as much of a sim as any other sim..
I estimate your IQ to be approx 75-80.
TheKwod This is true good sir.. im guessing your over weight and unattractive..
@@marquisegoodwin2481 lol, you don't have the intelligence to make these types of complex assertions, nor do you have the knowledge.
People don't like the simcade term as they can't make a distinction, ....it takes intelligence and knowledge to do this, and the demands of both increase relative to the complexity.
TheKwod Oh God.. What a profound argument you have.. now please, go look in a mirror. Thank you
TheKwod bro shut the fuck up you nerd😂😂
Hey man, nice video.
I haven't notices the pendulum effect you mention but some things you reminded me of. TCS does some weird things during oversteer in faster cars. I've had a sort of pendulum effect with high speed sensitivity settings.
The things I dislike are: bad gamepad support, I basically have to adjust my settings per car to get it right; no option to start the main window on a second monitor, have to change my primary monitor; reverse is the brake binding on the gamepad, makes no sense; the single player tracks only load when I have the window focused, I want to do things other things on Windows, a multitasking OS, while the tracks load.
Simcade? Project Cars 2 is definitely a sim. It's really not that different from Assetto Corsa or any other sim...
what about the clutch... seems pretty arcade to me... :d
@@R061116 stop playing on a controller pls. Also, how can a clutch seem "arcade"?
@@theamateurlancia Even on "realistic" settings, clutch is completely pointless in PC2. You can simply change gear at any time, clutch or no clutch, rev match or no rev match, you don't even have to bother lifting off.
@@Worstplayer you can adjust the shift time and set it to realistic. So for example in an rs1600 escort if you keep your foot flat and change gear the car will bounce of the limiter and engage harshly.
Here is an analogy for the race engineer:
It's like a download link which lets you solve the captcha anyway, just to tell you afterwards that the file is no longer available/ was deleted. -_-
Exactly!
About your #2 point, it's all up to the driver. Since the launch of the game I get oversteer here and there, but never end up spinning. I have never played with VR, but I would say that's why people spin. I usually use the roof cam when driving and since the camera doesn't rotate like it does with VR, I notice oversteer early enough to control it. With VR I think it isn't as fast to spot it and you can't feel the car starting to slide. Also a little tip: when the car starts to oversteer, don't countersteer the max you can or you will spin off the other way.
How is it that you are able to turn the steering wheel from lock to lock, with the hands crossing over but I can only turn the wheel a fraction (ps4, dualshock )
This one and the assetto corsa vids were exactly what I was looking for, thank you! Helped me decide which one to get, pcars2 is (slowly) downloading :))
Hi Dan for Point 1 Ginetta in particular put a lot more I put into their cars being perfect than other Manafacturers.
Small thing I was a little disappointed about is that Imola classic track version was not in the game and only the 1995 version
I like the last one :D ..
For me/I'm playing just couple of days and just career/ on formula rookie I needed to use wet tyres to have grip on dry surface, on gt4 in one classification I was 7seconds behind on wet silverstone that it wasn't possible to beat that time, then in the race I won 5sec a front easily and I'm curious what going to be next
Great video. I really agree with the pendulum physic. Hahhaha you cant correct a car or keep drifting like assetto corsa
As you said, YOU, cant.
@@JL-cn1qi for real I can correct the car np and I'm using a controller
Great video Dan! I totally agree with the Pendulum physics and engineer. At least because of engineer issues I started to learn how to tune myself which I'm really happy about :)
Krazydan....try kart racing with full damage....wheels pop off like there on springs. The damage is just not right. If you hit one of those little cones on the side of the rode at a low speed it will either pop off your wheel or make your car badly pull to the left or right. Lol I'm telling you there are alot more problems and issues than what you mention. Its a broken game.
Irish Man interesting, I haven't experienced any of that (yet), I'll check out the karts and see what happens.
Oh god, the karts are terrible. Undriveable imo. Trying to race any of the single seaters with full damage on is almost impossible too. The AI just smash into you and ruin your car, no matter how hard you try and stay out of their way.
@@DanDiMaggio yea go karts are undriveable in this game
When I take pictures of the interior of the car sometimes the wheel of the car is missing which really annoys me
I think there are some other things worth mentioning. Project Cars's dev team is horrible, they haven't even fixed many of the bugs that their first game had, many years after it's release. They also censor their forums and even the CEO!! deletes some threads that criticize their game. Their updates are super vague, just stating "improvements and enhancements made" sometimes, which honestly could just mean they made one tree look pretty, doesn't even serve as an update. But I think another thing to think about is the price, it is 3 times the cost of assetto corsa (currently my favorite racing sim). Hope this helps add to things you need to know before buying this game.
nothing about multiplayer? lap time bugs? pitstop bugs? they didnt even change it and its obvious
Also cannot restart a career series. I had to get up and my car retired and I didn't realize what I was doing when I accidently hit 'continue' and now I can't restart my career and I'm down a race in the 1/4 series.
PC2 has SO much potential to become the greatest sim ever made. It looks amazing, but8 AI unfortunately sucks and physics are kinda meh with SOME cars. I wish theyd go fullblown sim in PC3 and just improve phyics and AI.
I'm excited to see what pcars 3 has to offer!
@@DanDiMaggio welp...
I think when the Setup Engineer starts asking questions in a loop without making any adjustments it means that you've reached the limit of adjustment in that direction.
I hate the music in PC2, I'm hoping there's an option or list of types of music you can select from somewhere in the settings, but I haven't found it yet. I would really like to listen to AC/DC while taking the Ferrari FXX K around Sears Point(Sanoma Raceway).
As a new driver I enjoyed the video very much...I have track ir and it seems I have to start the game in VR for it to work which kinda seems odd as all my other sims/games have option to start track in game ....otherwise I love it!
.
Actually, for the second point, if you look at the people on the Nürburgring in the real life, they crash them self way to often after saving the car and starting to tangle
Do you get a ranking-number of some sort, like in iRacing?
Another problem is that u won't reach the max velocity of the car that stands right next to the car and u can't change the transmission.. Well u can but just a little bit and when u do it gets just a tiny bit better.
I believe the pendulum effect might be because of FFB setup. I unnistalled pc2 because of this, as I thought it was a major flaw if tyres did this, and was looking for new sims and found GTR2 for now.. because I have no internet connection right now and asked a friend to download the GTR2 (oldie) for me, as I was also curious.
I looked for FFB improvements and found some things that mimiced that pendulum effect, wich is to sort of change how the wheel feels around center and such..
So, now I want to get PC2 back and see if FFB files can be modified for that effect.
Let me know if you try anything concerning that - I mean, any of you guys here.
Cheers.
Well, I do like the race engineer. I use it to make very small adjustments of the handling. For example: I usually use the McLaren for GT3 races, but at some point I thought it was too oversteery at corner exit. So I asked the engineer what to do, it did 1 minor adjustment and now it's perfect!
I'm going to race in the real world 2018 Swedish Ginetta GT5 Challenge. I brought this game home today and I found it amazing. You guys must understand that driving a race car isn't easy. Feeling a loose of grip on the race track is normal, and you should be able to control it, also on your Xbox steering wheel. I'm really impressed about how realistic the Ginetta GT5 felt in the game, and I can't wait doing the championship both on PC2 and in real life. :D
Has anyone noticed in project cars 2 there can be an AI car consistently driving at a much slower pace than you but the second you overtake, they'll start driving like a bat out of hell, makes it impossible to dial in a reliable difficulty to match your skill.
Could anyone explain what is the first point he said "not enough cars"?
The rain - AI goes through puddles/rivers flat and I spin no matter what speed I do - even a crawl - crazy - but not all tracks.
I hate the physics: nearly any car understeers and overall agility + traction are way too less for a realistic game. Driving is unnecessarily hard and sometimes so far away from reality that I can't help myself but laugh at it.
Also, AI is completely broken. There are times when difficulty 30 AIs completely destroy you on one track and on another track 100 difficulty AIs shouldn't even try. I often get the feeling that either the AI has simplified physics or that they are actively 'cheating', because my very well tuned and as light as possible car isn't able to take corners at nearly the same speed as the AI is able to.
I don't want to switch to another racing sim because I love the graphics and the sound but those two things seriously crack me up. (Also, Multiplayer is almost dead)
Or... you can't drive. It's sound like that.
How many races have you done IRL? How many race cars have you ever piloted at all? If none... that's what I assume... then all this _'realism'_ rambling is utterly pointless, because you're not the right person to form an opinion about stuff you've not the slightest real life experiences with, let alone any professional training.
Freedom of speech/ expression of opinion doesn't include the freedom of forming an opinion about everything. This right simply doesn't exist and yet 90% of the people dare to form an opinion on everything. Google the Dunning-Kruger effect, that should keep you busy for while. Then go and educate yourself until you can eventually judge indeed how much _'understeer and overall agility + traction'_ certain (race) cars IRL have and thus if the game simulates it correctly or not.
Ever heard of the real race driver consultants having been working with Slightly Mad Studios? Like René Rast (Audi factory driver + 2017 DTM Winner with Audi + 5 times 24h champion of Spa, Daytona and Nürburgring)? Tommy Millner (GT champion, 24 h champion as well)? Ben Collins (stunt driver)? To name a few. What's your expertise? Who tf are you to think you could judge the realism of this game? You couch potato video game drivers turned know-it-alls ... make me sick. As well as your counterparts in flight sims. There it goes as well, always: _'I'm not a pilot, but... '_ And I want to bellow at them: _'... and that's exactly where your sentence should just end! Now!'_ Six of one, half a dozen of the other.
Hey Dan has the number 2 been fixed?
New sub Own P-cars 2 on Ps4 . I knew one of your hates was going to be the Ai bunching up in the first corner lol Same here. Good video and I agree with you.
Thank you very much. Yeah that is so annoying lol
Hey that bunch up was very helpful when I ran the Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 '69 TransAm @ Bathurst . I got a 2nd place out of it and I know I wouldn't of had a prayer if not for that bunch of Ai that I was able to pass in that corner. It kind of makes me re-think that "you can't win a race in the first corner" saying lol Thanks for replying and keep up your great work.
I've heard that the first corner issue goes away if you do a warm up lap....
Nice review. But why the graphics looks so poor in this vide like in Rfactor 2?
mesa's artworks setting are lower here because it is coming through oculus rift.
mesa's artworks u idiot higher res on video playback for utube u child
My accelerator pedal acts like the brakes and my clutch pedal acts like the accelerator, I play in Oculus VR, with the Logitech G920, which works correctly with Assetto Corsa on Steam, is there a way to correct this
I don’t know if this has been patched yet, but I would get terrible AI when it comes to entering and exiting the pits. Cars would enter too fast and glitch out and crash into other cars, or they’d exit out of the pits full throttle on cold tires and crash. That would happen mostly at Texas Motor Speedway. One time I was racing at Sugo and a car spun out in front of the start line about 60 laps into a 100 lap race and it’s front tires were unable to steer left or right, and for the rest of the race it would reverse and drive into the wall, over and over again. You’d have to time it right just to pass them without getting hit. I wasn’t playing on extreme difficulty or anything, so I’m not sure if my settings just enabled the AI to drive ridiculously. But I’ve had some great long races on PC2. Love the weather implementation and the ability to have a lot of cars in a race. The car damage is also superb.
Does anyone have this on X1? I need help fixing my settings.
Is pc2 a full on sim of not why ? Please be a good answer
One thing about the cars: are the cars free when you start the game for a first time offline
Yes everything is free to use in quickplay
Ive noticed in gran turismo sport, on some cars like the F1 and the tomahawk srt on a long straight like Nurburgring if you let go of the wheel (G29) it will go into a violent tank slapper. Maybe its just force feedback settings
yeah some wheels have an issue with oscillation on center. There is typically a setting to reduce this in the control panel or in game. I am not familiar with the Logitech wheels but look for something called oscillation reduction or center spring. Reduce whichever one of those you have until it goes away. Note that a slight negative side effect of this will be less ffb feeling on center.
that second one i have problems with that too
I know this may not be important but I would like some upbeat music while I'm racing. Whenever I'm doing those endurance races i get sleepy quick.
Back in my Gran Turismo days the soundtrack they had kept me alive.
They really need to look at the physics of the game, i made a formula rookie car do a double backflip by REAR-ending it whilst doing a dive-bomb. I mean on what planet would that be possible
I don’t have all the skins that should be there. I only have one or two skins per car and not sure how to get them. Does any one know what to do.
At this stage i hate driving in the rain, its virtually impossible for me, i'm not sure what i'm doing wrong or whats wrong with my setup. I have rain tyres etc but its worse then driving on a ice skating ring.
i cant get the game to work now. Screen is constantly flickering green
hmm i tried the demo wasnt convinced esp the rain cars dont spin that easy in the wet at slow speed, weather effects sound cool but tire models are hard to do dry even more so in dynamic weather maybe ill try P CARS 3
Your second point is more about your car control and feel than the game creating a pendulum
I hate the track limit thing , you turn it off and then run laps and if you go over a curb the smallest bit to much the lap doesn't count and it's so anoyying especially when my favorite car to drive in the game is the Nascar stock car , which you kinda have to use run off area sometimes
pc2 penalty system is broken devs wont do anything with that i got multiple penalties when i drove over the track and someone leave race "return to ur position or u will be penaltied" how can i return from last position to last position?
I have two problems with Pcars2. First: force feedback is (on my TS500) not so good, like AC. And i have big performance issues...i think win7 is my problem here...soon i will change to win10. Then i will see, i'm right, or not....
i hate how they have so little f1 tracks
You forgot one thing, when AI goes off track, do everything you can to dodge them. They will brake very hard to avoid and penalty and they also do this mid-corner.
good video, however i disagree with the engineer part, yes it is frustrating 1% moving up and down, but it's fine tuning imagine you going up or down 5 points or 5% and you keep missing that fine tune, the only way it could be fixed was with more options i suppose so instead of 2 options it gives 4 for that larger increase/decrease but realistically i like the 1% up and down, bar good video, 5th was not really a 5th though lol, also 1 thing you could of put as your 5th is the "slicks" slick tyres are classed as broken even still today months after it's release, people are still avoiding useing them as cars are just out of control, i was on project cars 2 forum yesterday, asking about it as i was frustrated, (did a video of me not pushing a car and losing so much traction) got some advice (do not use slicks) changed that and boom whizzing around the track like a pro now lol.
Does it still have the crash glitch
what car were you driving?
Didn't you have the problem that some cars just don't work? For example the Formula C and Formula A car. They just don't want to go around corners. No matter how much I tune them, no matter how many times and how careful i try, they just wanna sliiiiiiiiide all over the place
Just as if the tracks were wet at any time even though they aren't.
I play iracing and pc2 i dont have a problem going back and forth with them. And the pendulum affect you must be over correcting in the other direction because ive never had a problem when i get lose i just save it and go you know you have to use the wheel the gas and the brake to save it maybe thats why you are having trouble. My car slides i turn the other way slowly hit the gas and thats the end never had a car go back and forth like youre saying
How is this game with a controller? I tried the first game and felt it's made for a steering wheel, but for only 1 or 2 games I feel it's not worth it
Is it dplit screen?
The amount of snap oversteer while driving on ice or gravel is ridiculous
Follow up: i played the game more, i was just bad
what car is this in
i'm about to buy PC2 on Saturday. i'm slightly worried that it wouldn't be the same as i'm expecting it to be, but I have to find it out myself. 😰
If the engineer has told you the bias needs adjusting, but it inly does it 1% at a time...just adjust it yourself now the engineer has told you what to adjust.
Same for me. PC2 de-throned Asetto Corsa. But when I went back to AC... there was something familiar about it. PC2 looks better, has light years ahead more features and content and performs better in VR... however AC was my gateway into PC sim racing.
I agree on race engineer in your point that you can end up in a cycle of questions, but not in the other point.
When you are new to sim racing you should drive the car, find out what is wrong and than make one or two small adjustments and see if it bought you in the right direction. What is the point of a race engineer that is changing 10 values and you still have no idea about why.
My problem with race engineer is that you can not get rid of a car bouncing on curbs with it cause race engineer simply has no questions to solve that problem.
It's very rare I've been able to correct in PC1. It's possible but hard.
Does anyone else have the problem that some cars always leans and slightly turns to one side
I hate ho w they didn't put sixaxis control, I dont have any room for a wheel. Now I gotta learn how too drive all over again.
Given the specs of your pc, the game still looks quite good on video! Used to play this on 970 gtx sli.
That was also pretty good.
I actually thought the same thing about the 'pendulum effect'...
Hey Dan :-) With the recent patch (well .. it was 2 weeks ago), it might be worth revisiting this subject. With the pendulum effect you describe, I personally found that if I reduced the centring force in my windows wheel settings to practically nothing, this went away.
While I don't necessarily agree that there is a premium verses cars in PC2, I definitely agree some seemed rushed. Some just seem counter to reality in the way they handle. The most notable example is the Lotus 49. From way back in Grand Prix Legends, this car was an absolute handful taking large amounts of skill and practice to master - this is still the case with this car in Assetto Corsa, but in PC2 it's a pussy cat (by comparison).
There are numerous other cars that just feel flat as if their handling geometry is ultra safe. I've not had a chance to check out the patch myself yet.I'm currently away from home for work. back tomorrow! Looking forward to firing up PC2, slipping on the Oculus, and doing a bit of sliding.
RubberStig I actually have tried it since and I agree it is much better! I actually made a video about the adjustments to the ai and I couldn't help but mention that I thought the cars felt way better!
Awesome - I'll check it out. Thanks Dan!
Oh you really like this game lol. I bought ps4 recently, and I was considering buying one more racing game(I already have bought GT Sport), between Project cars2 and Assetto Corsa. I finally made a decision after watching this video. I would go Project Cars2. Thanks a lot!
Nice Video. Point 6: Multiplayer Sync.
5th reason is like saying that you don't want to have a girlfriend because you won't have to go to the strip club anymore
I hate that there is No Tire steps ! Even when breaking or wet tire steps when runing over wet watter paddle then going on dry asphalt.... nothing
Track limits- 2 wheels still in the line and you get a rediculous time fine, slow down for way too long.
Catching oversteer- with a controller is practically impossible. Quickest solutions is to counter steer, brake and come to a stop before setting off again. Trying to correct will end up loosing loads more time.
Multiplayer menu- shocking design. As a low ranking I'm unable to access many races yet it displays them to me. Add those to the races that are underway and have 20 laps remaining, I'm. Left with maybe 15% available. Just don't show them if I can access them. Seems like a no rainier to me.
Tuning- for those that don't like tuning or are no good at it like myself the games potential is distant. Without a setup your so much slower and as mentioned in the video the engineer system would take to long to do. Similar to finding setups online and entering them. I purchased a race sim not an engineering sim. I want to drive. Forza used to have a system which enabled you to purchase someone else's tunes. I found this made for a much better racing experience as people had more stable cars and so by the end of the race you had less crashes and dropouts and much more satisfying races.
Just now I have done a race. Had my quali time deleted for last chicane cutting. I was 2 wheels in the line. Started race at back. Avoided first corner hell. Got tagged on exit and forced off. Back on track the games tells me to give position back to the guy who pushed me off. The rest of the players beind are spinning about trying to get going again. By the time I hand the position back the leading pack are 30 seconds ahead and the guy who I game the position back to spins again and I'm all alone 1 min in to a race. Waste of time.
The race engineer is a cool feature but it needs to be changed. Rather than actually making the extremely minor adjustment itself, it needs to take the player to the part of the car that needs adjusting and let them change it as much as they want. All the information about that part and what it does is already there...the player just needs to guidance on what to actually change.
Good summary...especially the part on the Race Engineer.
Jabjam07 Thanks! Supposedly they have updated it a bit so I need to take another look at it again!
4:29 *”It’s time to get funky”*
That is weird. I have honestly never noticed that was in there before.
