Specialized Turbo Kenevo Review - Agile Long-Travel e-MTB

  • If you're looking for a long travel ebike then there's a lot to like about the Turbo Kenevo. Its Brose power unit uses a regular size chainring and can disengage when the assistance is switched off, so you can still pedal with an empty battery. It's not perfect though...

      I think this gentleman in particular often notices minor details and passes them to us. I feel with him it's more review than product placement like with some presenters on YT

    Can people please just stop crying about the cost of E bikes. Just ride your regular bike and zip it already. These are low production really well made bikes with some really nice parts. look at what a regular bike with this travel and these components costs. The companies have to have insentive to make them, or progress will be really slow. I think this is as good of a value as most E bikes, all things considered, once you consider the 180mm travel and nice susp-and components.

  • @JTMarlin8

    Someone removed the chainstay protector. It's a rubber stick-on guard and has been included with the bike since it debuted in late 2017.

      You're right, but it's not much use for, say, removing a stiff pedal or crank bolt. Point is, if you want to do some serious bike-fixing, you'd be better off with a conventional multi-tool.

    6:30 I think in dropper post era (which soon will end as the dropper seat tubes are already showing up) double bolt 20mm tall clams should be a standard, which would also make the dropper bit harder to steal -two different, unusual bolts

    @midlifechrisis Před 5 lety

    Your comment on the "slack" seat angle making it not so good at climbing. I reckon it has more to do with the shorter chainstay. I have the 2019 Levo, which has a longer (460mm) chainstay and it climbs brilliantly.

    Do you get less pedal strikes with a Kenovo vs a Levo? I am demoing a Levo right now and I get a lot of pedal strikes compared to my 2015 Spec Enduro comp. The Kenovo has a 10 mm higher BB. Any thoughts would be helpful. Thank you!

    • @tamasvarga67
      @tamasvarga67 Před 5 lety

      Jimi Banz I don’t think it’s reasonable to expect them to be the same price as the regular bikes. A mid level trail bike is ~3500€ and the ebike version can be had for 1000€ more and you’ll get a motor with a 500Wh battery for it. If you want a Specialized you’ll pay premium for the name but the same can be said for their regular bikes too.
      I’m not saying they are cheap but in Westen Europe the demand is huge and they are outselling the regular bikes.

    None of what you say about weight balance applies to the smaller sizes. The smaller sizes are terribly flawed. I'll stick to my regular bike until (e)bike manufacturers figure out how to properly design so size S and M don't ride like nose-heavy townie/cruiser bikes.

    • @ninjichor7659
      @ninjichor7659 Před 5 lety

      @josh vaughan i take it you haven't ridden size S and M bikes with long chainstays without proportionally longer front centers? Can't just keep CS length the same and shorten the front, esp considering most of the weight is forward of the BB. Nose-heavy = small rider needs to ride with ass back.
