- What if the simple act of asking questions could help us repair the divisions in our society? United States Representative Abigail Spanberger describes how her experience of running for elected office in Virginia (after a career as an officer with the Central Intelligence Agency) prompted her to find new ways to seek out people with whom she might not normally interact - and ask questions that can help identify shared concerns and potential areas for collaboration.
U.S. Representative Abigail Spanberger represents Virginia’s 7th Congressional District, which comprises 10 counties throughout Central Virginia.
Representative Spanberger began her career in public service, first serving as a federal agent with the U.S. Postal Inspection Service investigating money laundering and narcotics cases, and then serving as a case officer with the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). As a CIA officer, she worked at home and abroad to collect vital intelligence, keep our country safe, and work in furtherance of our national security priorities. In the private sector, Representative Spanberger worked with colleges and universities to help them diversify their student bodies and increase graduation rates. More than a bit. Im becoming more convinced that it's over.
Don't lose hope. The real problem here is that the right is constantly bombarding everything in a effort to quell freedom of speech, not to promote it, obviously. The other side of that coin is people who still have a heart and can actually feel empathy for others are often more prone to losing hope, because acts of such violence are beneath them. But now it the time for heroes, and all heroes have one thing in common: compassion.
You can be one of those heroes, because you have the strength of compassion on your side. Never forget that a hero is *always* someone who helps others selflessly, and defends those who are less able to defend themselves. Now is the time for you to stand up and be counted.
To despair is to believe one can tell the future. As Gandalf said: _"there is always hope."_

Here is one question? Why is TED platform where no conservatives are allowed or invited to talk to hear the other side? I find it interesting to give a speech on this on TED platform. Somehow I don't see that question being asked? I wonder why.
