WTF they spent 3 years going after the 2 poachers and they "could" do total of 10 years and 100k in fines and the judge hands down ZERO years and 20k in fines!
I'm guessing that the Montana officers spent WAY more than $9K and $11K on the investigation. So, after 35 years of never obtaining a hunting licenses and all of his actions he doesn't get jail time.. And only 20% of the max fine.. What's up with this?????

I do enjoy this series. It’s not overly sensational or dramatic. Thanks for that. The two poachers should have received bigger fines IMO. No doubt. I’m not for incarceration for this type of crime, however. It costs too much to hold non-violent criminals.
Here in Sweden if you fish without a fishing license for the lake/river you are at, they can in addition to giving you a fine also take your fishing equipment, boat and car that you have gone there with. And there are different fishing licenses depending on where you are, for example a river can be divided into several parts with different fishing licenses.

Poaching is wrong no matter how it’s looked at but if I was a warden and caught someone poaching and I knew for a fact that their family was going around hungry I don’t think I could do anything about the poaching. If it’s to feed a family I don’t see anything wrong with getting an animal to eat.

Subsistence hunting and fishing is a right enumerated in the Montana Constitution. Interesting how there are all these conflicts in law, so that a good-natured guy can still get persecuted and fined and even imprisoned while believing he is actually following the law.
Some folks hunt for sport, and some of us hunt to eat. Humans became humans by doing what ever it takes to get a meal. If your hunting because you enjoy the sport good for you, but if I spill a little corn or apples in the woods, well then I’m getting an upper hand and won’t be hungry. Lots of times hunters that get in trouble is because Uncle Sam didn’t get what Uncle Sam wants and that is money and wards of the state. Everyone isn’t a criminal and not everyone should be treated as one.

The money the state spent over 3 years gattering information and going to court would be over 100.000 with all the man hours, and they get 21.000 in return and these guys dont even get one day jail time. Both should of got the 5 years in jail and no early release.

Montana is overrun with deer. My sister in Missoula has several deer in her yard regularly and deer are hit weekly in the area. They are horrible pests when unafraid of people

There are hundreds of grizzly bears in Montana. I saw one a couple miles from my house last month. A huge boar. Didn't give me happy feelings.
