  • National Rifle Association board member and classic rocker Ted Nugent slammed survivors of the Parkland, Florida, school shooting, calling them "liars" and "poor, mushy-brained children."
Nugent made the comments during an interview on "The Joe Pags Show," a nationally syndicated conservative radio program.
"All you have to do now is not only feel sorry for the liars, but you have to go against them and pray to God that the lies can be crushed and the liars can be silenced so that real measures can be put into place to actually save children's lives," Nugent said about the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School students.

Rocker??? Now that’s a joke. I saw him on stage, before he was senile, and boy, his only reputation was about how loud he played. There never was any music there, just noise. I think he will just be remembered for his guns and sounds coming out of them.

I feel part of the problem is that we don't listen to children, and at least hear out what they have to say. Many children nowadays are highly intelligent. We should listen to them, and not always discount them. The days of when children should only be seen and not heard are over.

Ask someone that just got in a car accident if they want to go on a car ride... people need the right to protect themselves. Taking away guns takes away our right to fight attackers. Asking the government to take our guns is the same as saying “please help me live. I can’t live without someone holding my hand.”. I’ve learned that you can’t control every aspect of life. You can’t stop bad things from happening, it’s a part of nature. However, we can learn to react to bad things differently, and learn better ways to treat each other.

Dan Szekeres there is nothing to debate. Unless you want to talk about the coward that sat outside and did notbing. Or the sheriff office that failed these kids. "See something , say something " - they did !! This isn't Ted's fault, NRA's fault, or any guns fault. I don't doubt the pain and or fear many of these kids had. But the talking points , the rehearsing already wrote for them lines.
Not allowing walkouts for kids who support the 2nd amendment, an the NRA. The making kids write Congress and demand tougher gun laws. While many kids may have already felt the way it appeared at DC, many didn't and still don't understand the truth about guns. Like the number of people who die from rifles. 5 times the amount of people are killed by a knife than an assault rifle. In fact, 5 times the amount of all rifles combined.
3 times the amount of people are killed by a blunt object, than those killed by all rifles combined. 8 kids a day die from texting or being in the car while someone else was texting and driving.
If you want to blame the NRA for even 1 of those killed at any school, then blame Planned Parenthood for those killed by abortion. All I'm saying is a little common sense would go a long way. And stop using kids to push a political view. Because that's all it is. Not one law could have stopped this. And good people don't need new laws to continue being good. Bad people don't care about the laws we have now. Why would they care about new laws?

Why does anyone give a rat's ass about what some has-been classic rocker thinks? You can bet that if someone started shooting up one of his concerts, he'd be one of the first to run like hell. He might be good at shooting unarmed, defenseless critters on his ranch, but he wouldn't feel so tough going up against an active shooter with an AR-15. The reality is that the Parkland kids have seen more real-life, life-and-death "combat" than Nugent has. They've been through a hail of bullets and have seen their friends die. Can Nugent say the same? Nope. Nugent lives a pampered life of luxury. He only pretends to be a tough guy.

The point everyone is missing is, if these kids were brought up in a society where there were no babysitters except for social media, video games, and the complete lack of supervision. We cannot expect toddlers to understand the difference between right and wrong by learning it on their own. It needs to be instilled in them as a child, and they will carry it the rest of their lives.. I've said this thousands of times now, and everybody comes back with, every parent is not perfect, that is absolutely true. If each parent would just give 5% of their time to their children, the world would have been a much nicer place today.

    • @kbpeters4246
      @kbpeters4246 Před 6 lety

      Gaming,
I am a full-time Religious Education teacher at a grade school.
Do you understand that the Book of Revelations nearly did not make it into the canon due to its figurative language that even the early Chruch Fathers argued over?
I always find it frustrating when the far right religious cherry pick from the OT in order to justify their oppositionfor example to homosexuality (notice there is no mention of condemning lesbians). Or when they cherry pick references to Jesus and swords during the Olivet Discourse. Which again they completely miss the meaning of Pentecost and the birth of Christianity being a difficult road. Then they miss the meaning of the event when Peter attacks the Roman soldier with his knife....wait....wasn't Peter trying to defend Jesus? Maybe if he had AR-15 things would have been different?
The Greek word "machaira" is knife or sword is mentioned in the Olivet Discourse. The machaira is used to the preparation of food, cutting wood for fuel, and possibly to fend off robbers for which the area was noted. Jesus was preparing the disciples for the long road ahead of them once he was gone. He told them that they would spread out, suffer and experience pain. And yet, he commanded them to SERVE.
You also missed the deliberate actions of Jesus. Jesus set up the events of Holy Week as a series of reasons for his arrest. He was pushing for his end. For example; Holy Tuesday in the Temple, the 8 Woes was a deliberate means to finally get the (rivals) Sadducees, Pharisees and scribes to unite against Jesus.
At the Garden of Gethsemane, the presence of the swords were necessary tools to set up Jesus' confrontation with the Roman soldiers in the Garden of Gethsemane. He set the stage. He made it look like he was in rebellion - rebellion against the Roman Power. It was the fear of rebellion that finally sealed Jesus' fate. Pilate had to sentence Jesus in order to protect Rome.
Matthew 26:55-56: At that time Jesus said to the crowd, “Am I leading a rebellion, that you have come out with swords and clubs to capture me? Every day I sat in the temple courts teaching, and you did not arrest me. But this has all taken place that the writings of the prophets might be fulfilled.”
People need protection? What is greater protection there but GOD? Jesus wanted his disciples to trust on the protection of the Shepherd, the who would provide all their needs - the amour of God.
      Finally, the most important quote:
Matthew 26:52: “Put your sword back in its place… for all who take the sword will die by the sword.”
I rather take the words of Jesus over John who was old and fearful due to the numerous attacks by the Pharisees against the young Christian Church.

The March for Our Lives protesters make a good point. By their own admission, 18-20 yr olds are not mature enough to own a gun. They " don't understand the long term consequences of their actions." But, 18-20 yr olds can decide the future of America by voting ? Any bills to raise the age of firearms purchase to 21 should raise the voting age to 21 as well. It is only reasonable to link the two together. The protesters make an excellent point on that issue. Thank you, kids for bringing the facts to light.

So an adult cannot "attack" or criticize a teen that put themselves in a position speaking publicly on national news outlets demanding changes in law. But it's ok for that same teen to make gross statements and attack adults personally with impunity?? Come the fuck on!
