Napoli is a true gem, it is really sad that so many tourists just use it as a "transit station" to Pompei, Positano, Capri, etc.

Well done Jason! As Neapolitan I can just congratulate you on the accurate review, and thank you for it. I regret they didn't allow you to enter Castel dell'Ovo, it's wonderful. Even though it is becoming more and more so and the number of visitors has hugely grown in the recent years thanks to cheap high speed trains, low cost flights, completion of Garibaldi stop on metro line 1, the recognition as world heritage site by Unesco, pedestrianized areas and the other marvels of internet and sharing economy, Naples is not "touristic" in the commercial meaning of the word. It is not "efficient" as other Western cities, but is unique, different and not boring. You won't find the same things you find elsewhere, for better or for worse. Just if I have to, three clarifications: there is also the national museum of Capodimonte with a mind-blowing collection of paintings and sculptures, and its wood that represents the green lung of the city; the sloping coastal hill on the right you point out when standing on the waterfront is another affluent district of Naples whose name is Posillipo, and the most iconic postcard view (the one with the city, the gulf and and Vesuvius) frames the panorama enjoyable from its sinuous main street (via Posillipo); about Maradona instead, he is "worshipped" not only by the working class but by all the strata of the population. This because the interesting thing to mention is that football and S.S.C. Napoli are passions that merge the entire city and represent probably the main engaging, cross-cutting topic literally everyone has something to say upon. In the end, your English is extremely clear and pleasing.

I have so many great memories of Napoli. I was so comfortable there, wandering the streets that it must've shown because I had more than one local come up to me and start talking (my Neapolitan was 'iffy' despite taking two college classes). They were quite surprised when they found out I did not live there - which I took as a compliment. Since then I have managed to find some places that have a personal connection to my ancestors in one way or another so I am looking forward to returning and finding those places and getting lost in the streets again.

I discovered Napoli only recently because of the bad image it has, but I found it amazing. I think it’s one of the few cities in the world which can offer centuries of history and art as well as some views which are truly breathtaking (ie the bay of Naples with mount Vesuvius). I also admired the Cristo Velato which is one of the finest pieces of art I’ve ever seen in my life.
On the flip side, it’s true that it can be really chaotic and overwhelming at times, but this is the way it is and you will get acquainted to it. Food is ridiculously cheap considering its quality, so I recommend a visit.

The Royal Palace of Capodimonte with its Museum is also certainly worth a visit. You can enjoy beautiful sunshines/sunsets from there as well. If you come back to the Santa Chiara neighbourhood, do not miss the Gesù Nuovo church, with stunning frescoes. You can hike to La Gaiola beach in Posillipo. If you stay some more days, Pompei, Herculaneum and the Amalfi Coast (particularly Positano and Sorrento) deserve a visit. Superb again Jason. You certainly showed the raw beauty and history of this unique city by wandering those characteristic narrow streets etc. The Galleria is quite spectacular and in my opinion equally as amazing as the Galleria in Milan where I lived and worked as an international fashion model. Italy is AMAZING! EUROPE IS AMAZING! You do such a great job no matter where you have travelled to and my many twenty years of fabulous travels during the 70's and 80's come flooding back to me as I watch all of your videos. Your format continues to inspire. Well done again. Cheers from the Train Lord in South Australia.

It is a chaotic city, always has been even in ancient times. You either love or hate Naples, no middle ground. But it is really rich in art, culture, diversity and beauty so i would advice you to visit it during these times in which the pandemic makes less tourists roam places. It could be a good solution for you, but keep in mind it's not only the tourists making the city like that, the locals are just like that, very lively, chaotic almost someone would say 😂

Il mio cuore abita a'Napoli. I LOVE Naples! I lived in this beautiful city with these beautiful people for 7 years and I hope to retire there when I am older. I have note been to a ton of places, but I have been to more than the average person and my heart will forever remain in Napoli. The birthplace of the pizza Margherita should be a good indicator that the Napolitani have some of the best food!! That's just one small awesome thing about this city. All of the history here is incredible and has a very colorful past with the Moors, Greeks, Romans, Spaniards... The latter helps Spanish speakers understand Napolitano dialect. Then there's the people. Wow, they are some of the nicest and generous people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Visit this beautifully rich (non-monetarily) city and then die, as the saying goes. You will NOT regret it. Also, don't be paranoid of pick pockets, otherwise, you'll become a victim. Just be aware, but not ridiculous.

If you are still there, I recommend you to go to Procida (a beautiful island, you can take a ferry, it cost about 12 euros one way) you will love the vibes and the atmosphere there, it’s such a picturesque island, and it also have a beautiful beach - which called “Spiaggia Pozzovecchio”. Then the next island I truly recommend for the beach and clear water is “Ischia”, to arrive there you can take a ferry that stops in “Porto Ischia”, it’s very important to arriverei in that port, in order to be able to take a bus and go Spiaggia dei Maronti, a very beautiful and charming beach, with blue and clear water. And finally but not least I suggest to go if you can to Amalfi coast and Positano!!

Went to Napoli a couple of years ago. we were wanting to visit the likes of Pompei, Capri, and Ischia, and rather than the more 'touristy' spots near Almafi, we went for a place in the so called 'rougher' spots near the Garibaldi station.
For a while it felt intimidating. After that passed, it was beautiful.
Napoli itself had a lot of places to visit, As well as the well known museums, there are a lot of gardens - we went up to the Capodimonte museum, UP is the key word, its like climbing a mountain!
Probably the most amazing thing about Naples though, is its climate. My mrs asked me why there were so many giant cactus growing in the wild, after all we are in Europe - I told her how close we actually were to the north African coast!

I think there are very few Neapolitans who ruin Napoli in such a disastrous way, with their behavior and attitude not allowing the city to flourish for its inexhaustible resources and beauty. As a Tour Leader, I'm incredibly in love with the whole atmosphere that Naples welcome you in. It's like ascending to another dimension. I absolutely love it. However, like I said, few people work really hard to ruin the image of the city within Italians and foreigners. That is massive damage to Napoli, and really hope this would change - tourism can be a huge force of change. I believe Napoli has a radiant future in front of her. Forza Napoli.
