  • Naples, Italy (Napoli Italia) is the 3rd largest in Italy and has SO MANY amazing things to do. There are numerous castle such as Castel Sant'Elmo, Castle Nuovo, Castel dell'Ovo. There are iconic churches such as Santa Chiara, Gesu Nuovo, and the Duomo. You can eat pizza in the birthplace of pizza at Gino e Toto Sorbillo or L'Antica Pizzeria da Michele. The waterfront or "Lungomare" shows fantastic views of Mount Vesuvius. Across the Piazza del Plebescito, you can explore the Palazzo Reale di Napoli. There are iconic gritty and atmospheric streets to wander like the Via dei Tribulani and Spaccanapoli. Let me know which of these things on my list are your favorite in the comments below!

    Naples is probably the urban area with the greatest tourist offer in Europe, it has everything (or almost everything) impressive archaeology, artistic palaces and churches, panoramas and coastlines, picturesque seaside villages and much more. If it weren't for the bad reputation of crime it would deserve the same tourists as Rome and Paris

      @@WanderlustWellman I did! It was just too short. My honorable mention here is the Grand Vesuvio Hotel, along the Lungomare, and facing the Castel Ovo. Two rooftop bars on the upper floors, which had stunning views. The other highlight was a tour of Herculenium. Much more intact than Pompeii, accessible by the Circumvesius train for less than 2 euro.

    I lived in naples off and on January-October2021. I recognized some of your footage from that time and have almost the exact same opinions as this video. Thank you for talking about this wonderful city! I just have to disagree with the honorable mentions. I think the duomo is so stunning and definitely worth a visit. Plus the Complesso monumentale donnaregina museo diocesano is right around the corner and was our favorite collection of art and architecture. Also BABÀ is to die for idk what you mean. But everything else SPOT on. I always rave about Napoli to people and defend it when people say skip it and go to amalfi coast. Also another fantastic spot is the Naples archaeological museum. Fantastic collection from Pompeii

Santa chiara was rebuilded after war but had lost all of baroque art and paint of the most famous painter of italian hisyory like giotto that came there for painting it. As the baroque and other stile or some painting over the year were added, but we restored it only how it was when this building was originally thinkes, so this building lost almost all the paint and hundrend and hundred year of modification.

      Realistically, I think 2 or 3 full days in Napoli is enough to see and do most of these things if you're okay with some busy days. If you have time to take things slow, maybe you should take 4 or 5. It just depends on if you're planning on going to other places - for example, I strongly suggest that you visit Ischia island for several days, and/or Capri.

      La baba is a very well know Italian pastry soaked in rum. You can get it it in almost every pastry shop in Italy. My Italian husband loves them "ma per me sono troppo dolce." Gesù means Jesus and is pronounced J-zoo .

    Your video on Naples was informative and interesting.
    Please speak more slowly and clearly, so much of you explanations were garbled and difficult to understand.

    Very informative, But, not very easy to catch and follow up for someone who's not familiar with name and general Naples knowledge. Not a very good video editing. Very short time for each section with fast narrator talking. Slow down man. We can not remember anything from this video at the end of it.

    OMG... First of all, I don't think you should have called your video 7 things to do in Naples, because really you mentioned way more than 7 things... but where you lost me completely is where you said the Baba is not good... I think you just weren't in the right mindset when you tried it.

    • @WanderlustWellman
      @WanderlustWellman  Před 11 měsíci

      That's a good point, but I figured it was better to give more things than promised vs less things than promised. I'll try baba again sometime if it's available, but the ones I had were literally dripping with strong rum - if they are all like that, then maybe they are just not for me I suppose

      @@WanderlustWellman I think that's just what it is. I moved here about 6 months ago, and also visited here a few years ago. I had the Baba when I visited, and I have had it a few times since living here. I think it's good. Not something I would eat everyday but I do think it's good. Yes it is soggy but that's what makes it good. It's sweet and juicy, and has the alcohol flavor. Maybe it's an acquired taste, but I wouldn't recommend for people not to try it. You can say you didn't enjoy it, but many people do enjoy it! Let people decide for themselves. Just my opinion. Great video overall though and thanks for sharing! There are still some things left for me to do while I am here!

    Your pronunciation is all over the place. Half the time you get it right, as in Galleria Umberto but then you say Nap oly instead of Nah poh li. Please work on that so that Non speakers don't pick up bad habits of pronunciation.

      @@WanderlustWellman Yeah, I think if you learned a couple basic rules about "c" and "g" to start it would help. Then there are the vowel sounds. But that's less important. I learned to a high level in University but I haven't had anyone to speak with for a long time so my grammar and vocabulary are limited but that is changing. I will start an advanced convo course on Monday with native speakers. However, my accent is perfect. I was taken for a native in Salerno last month. I have started reciting in Italian. I pray so I pray and read the daily Gospel reading in Italian and it has helped in all areas. You can read anything. Eventually, you will hear your mistakes. I really like the CZcams channel Easy Italian with Katie and Matteo. Also Learn Amo is very good.
