    Well done Cip! She seemed resistant, but receptive to the info you gave them.
    Personally these type of people are the ones I struggle the most with. They are technically polite, but they exploit politeness to get out of uncomfortable conversations. It almost feels wrong for me to actually hold them accountable because I do no want to come across as aggressive or preachy. At the same time I don't want them to continue using ignorance as a excuse to not take responsibility for the harm they are causing to innocent sentient animals.

      @veganpowerlab  Před měsícem +6

      I know what you mean. They were polite, yeah. That day I remember being pushy with people and it not panning out and then I was more lenient and it felt better.
      But, it’s a small opening. Maybe I could’ve pushed more with them, but I guess the previous experiences made me feel like I shouldn’t. Only looking back now I notice it.
      Vegan activism is hard also because of context, I guess 🤷‍♂️ but, what matters is that you go out there and you talk to them. Some conversations end up better than others and you learn

    • @TXRhody
      @TXRhody Před měsícem

      Sometimes you can break through the polite facade by having a conversation about the conversation. Something like, "you seem like you have a good heart, but I can sense that you don't intend to walk away from this conversation and become vegan right now. What I hope is that we planted a seed here, that you will think about the connection between the choices you make and the animals who are abused and slaughtered for your consumption, the connection between the values you say you have and how to put those values into practice through your actions. I don't know if you can imagine yourself in the future, maybe a year from now, thinking about that connection and living a life free of animal exploitation, and looking back on this moment as having been the start of it."

    Why is it so inconveniente for the majority of people to be vegan , it's just so easy .
    It's always about taste pleasure and often don't even contemplate on the awful suffering and abuse that animals have to go through .

      no. The vegan diet is unhealthy and meat eaters have the best health while living the longest. That and vegan food sucks. This is why vegans spend hours in the kitchen trying to make they garbage food taste like meat, dairy, and eggs.

    Yeah that's exactly what I was thinking about the labels. I was thinking about probably commenting it. Then you popped up on the screen with the additional adjustment. I even recently heard people say we should make adjustments for people who don't want to be fully 100% plant-based and still be able to call herself vegan because they're mostly vegan.

    • @veganpowerlab
      @veganpowerlab  Před měsícem

      That would be extra ridiculous for someone to call themselves vegan when they still support animal exploitation.

    • @jamiepitcher2055
      @jamiepitcher2055 Před měsícem

      @@veganpowerlab I know right they were trying to tell me it would get more people into the movement and I'm like. It would dilute the message. And I had people say well people who are not for animal rights and don't care about it but are plant-based why can't we call them vegans. They said you know then maybe as they get in the club they'll learn more about it. And I'm like no it's not like that. Because it goes against what define a vegan. And to be honest I'd rather someone be plant-based eating an omnivorous or carnivore diet. They said well then why don't you let them call themselves vegan so they feel good about it and they can learn about veganism more later give them something to feel good about .. I said wouldn't it be the same thing like you're talking about start up like a reward graduating system wouldn't it be the same thing if we said first step you can be plant-based next step you can be vegan. It's just literally calling it what it is

    I'll never get tired of saying "Great outreach Cip!" I think you pushed them as much as you could without scaring them away.
    I also liked your quick rant. I understand what you mean about being proud of being vegan but I see it a little differently. Wrt animal exploitation, carnists ought to be ashamed, vegans shouldn't be ashamed, and people who go above and beyond just being vegan (by doing outreach, rescuing shelter animals, working at a sanctuary, etc.) are the ones who should be proud. Imo being veganism is just the moral baseline, the minimum, the starting point.

      Stopping animal exploitation. Well, slowly, I hope so

    • @wiggles7976
      @wiggles7976 Před měsícem

      @@veganpowerlab The reason I ask is because I want to talk about SMART goals. They are Specific, Measureable, Attainable, Realistic, and Time-Limited. "Stopping animal exploitation" isn't specific (do you mean all animal exploitation on the planet, no exceptions? Do you mean converting one person a week to veganism?). Since the goal isn't specific, it's hard to measure. I could come up with half a dozen metrics like the percentage of animals on farms that are abused, the percent of people's diets that are meat-based, the amount of animals raised per year for the purpose of slaughter, etc., but without a specific goal, we don't know what to measure. There's actually not much point in talking about the other aspects if the goal isn't specific.
