I love it when Valentine plays with Riki. It's just adorable! We often see her stressed, scared, or angry, and I'm hoping we get to see this side of her more often. :)
Today's video Valentine wasnt so pleasant, but yes yesterday it was awesome to see her pkayful. Riki wasn't standoffish at all. I love how Kiki shows her baby off to both the zoo onlookers and at the window. She is so proud. She is a very good mommy though I wish she wasn't so aggressive in the trees with the poor little guy hanging on for dear life. I know that is normal orangutan behavior and in the end it will make Loki a strong little guy. He standing and crawling a bit on today's video.
I love how Kiki shows off het baby to the zoo fans. And what's up with Riki? Playful all of a sudden and not so afraid. Love how Kiki claps to get the attention of the zoo keepers or whoever wete throwing her some food treats. Love these guys.
Wow, very RARELY is Valentine playful. I've asked this before, but does anyone know if there is an abusive history in her past that would explain her anger/lashing out/violence/not accepting her own child? It's sad.
Rachael Q hi Rachael. Apparently Valentine has been moved app row 5 or 6 times because of fighting among the females. This along with being tranquillized each time moving I'm sure is very hard on her. Waking up in a strange place would scare me pretty bad so imagine what she has gone through. She finally got pregnant in this zoo and quickly left her baby alone so the zoo went in immediately and raised Ceira by humans for over 2 years. She was hand raised and it was a struggle to get her to be weined. Fortunately there is a super sweet girl here called Julie. She accepted Ceira immediately and keeps her now. Poor Valentine was eventually removed again because fighting with Kiki constantly. I feel so bad for Valentine. Being shuffled around so much and not knowing when or where she would end up waking up surly has taken its toll on her. It's no wonder why she gave up her child. So sad. I hope this helps.

I can't even imagine what a baby would be like with Riki and the Grumpy old lady. But something is in the air, Riki surely wasnt afraid of her today.

I’m confused, I thought the mom is Kiki, baby is Loki? Which one is Valentine? The one with the dark face that Kiki seems afraid of?
