Baby Loki is growing leaps and bounds. So much more observant. Riki will be pulling his hair before you know it or probably already has. I know From watching how he wants to hold the little guy so bad.

Funny reading these comments now after just learning about and watching videos of this family the last 6 mos. Believe it or not, when I go back and watch early videos of Kiki...she’s got some giddy up and feistiness to her! From what others have said Borneo is pretty aggressive too, so I guess if you combine that with Kiki’s sweet but feisty behavior...and a poor kid who probably had to ween a little too early, you probably get a real PIA! Watching videos now...yes he’s still a little PIA but he’s deff grown up since this video. And sweet...sweet Kiki and Loki! Could her smile get any bigger? Love this family! That’s Himawari!

What an excellent mom . You can see she loves every minute of it . Such a gentle soul. This little family is very well balanced . I'd be pulling my hair out with the 4 yr old .having to Chace him around all of the time lol

Hanging on must be much easier when you, essentially, have 4 hands.

Anyone know how old Kiki is? She seems like a young Mum, moves around a lot with baby Loki(?) clinging just as she (?) ought.. Sorry, about the ?s I'm now just learning about this lovely family.

Riki still needs his mother's attention. In the wild a mother orangutan stays with her child til theyre 7 or 8 and then mates again. In captivity the mother gets pregnant again way too soon and thus the older infant doesnt get the full attention since the mother is concentrating on the new baby. So its a little unfair to Riki in a way. Yes, he still wants to nurse and receive attention from his mother and he's not getting it.

Maybe the “old infants” should adopt and grow up faster” 7-10 yrs of nursing doesn’t sounds good for an endangered species will. They know know hug food away from their moms, so they can leave the nursing to the real infants.

@@kelechichiadi8778Please watch videos about the natural environment of the Orangutan baby and how long the baby stays with the mother until he or she leaves and starts life on their own. There are videos about it on CZcams. It is after the young orangutan leaves that the mother comes into estrus and starts mating again. What goes on in the zoos is not natural for the orangutan mother and orangutan baby.

@@kelechichiadi8778 This is not about nursing. This is about an Orangutan baby staying with Its mother until they're 7 or 8 years old in their natural environment. Only at this stage the mother and the child separate and go their separate ways. Look, I'm not gonna argue and debate with you about this. You believe what you want to believe Like I said this isn't only about nursing. The baby is taught all the necessary skills to survive in the wild by its mother. Their bond is very strong during this period. In the zoo, they stick the baby , the father and the mother in the same enclosure . In the wild the Mother and the baby are together as one single unit and apart from other males... The male does not interfere or help with anything to raise the baby.

Kiki is so beautiful and such a loving mom. And Loki is so cute! I wish they would do something for Riki so his behavior would improve...always antagonizing and pulling hair! Maybe hes too developed as a male to be cohabiting with nursing mothers? At this age in the wild Kiki woukd have encouraged him to leave by now. He is trying to nurse and pulls Kikis breasts. She puts up with alot from him!

no way not at 4 years old!!! orangutans dont venture out on their own until between 8-10 years in the wild!
