  • Join me in this video for a review of what I consider to be the best differential probe to get, the Micsig DP10013. The functionality, build quality, specs and performance of this unit considered together with the attractive price puts this particular model at the top of the list if you are looking to improve your setup with a differential probe. Whether you are using it for high voltage probing or other applications, why spend 3-4 times as much for the more or less the same specs just a different badge?

    this is great probe, I am using it with my siglent oscilloscope and I can say I am satisfied

    Actually, this is much cheaper than I thought it would be. Nice review.

    In case you weren't aware, @1:36 caption obscures recording a bit. Dunno if you can shift the underlying video right a bit when caption appears?

      @voltlog  Před 2 lety +1

      Thanks for catching that, I could shift the video to make it look nicer but I don't think it's worth the trouble at this point since the specs overlay is the stuff that I wanted visible for that part of the video anyway.

    Could this be used on a spectrum analyser for say up to 30MHz ?

    How do you apply the discount coupon. Do you have to load the coupon to your account, first, or some such? The Check-Out would not accept the code, directly?

    Good review. It's just a shame that VoltLog didn't show us the inside of the differential probe.

    Can someone here help me out. I'm looking for a probe tip for the DP10013 that are longer and fits the input leads. Similar to multimeter tips. TIA

    Where might I buy the 20003 model? Oops... Found it on Amazon/USA.

    Is it 100M bandwidth or not? It should meet the spec with the supplied leads.

      @@2000jago thanks. I wasn't aware that this model apparently isn't that new.

    Good review. What are your thoughts on getting the DP10007 (700V) version since it seems to have slightly better response and offers 10x/100x that is better suited for most scope's display output (over the 50x/500x - that can make on-screen readings difficult to calculate at times)? Do you think the 700V will limit its use too much with general 120V power supply diagnosis/work over the higher capacity 1300V the DP10013 provides? Most US based switched power supplies are in the under 300V range on the high-voltage side of the supply and I'm trying to think if I really need anything more than 700V capacity.
    If the DP10007 is a better fit, I see Micsig introduced a newer DP750-100 that, while it is newer, smaller and has even better specs over the older DP10007, does seem to get some bad reviews with DOA issues and comes with 50x/500x modes (again, causes issues with correctly reading scope displays that only offer 10/100/1000x modes).

      2 Phase with 120 Volt AC = 240 Volt AC
      The top of every Sinus wave have
      x Volt Peak. I am shure you can you calculate these voltage .
      Ok
      Now add spikes to the sinus wave !
      Is there a spike from backinductance ?
      Ohhh impossible to say the voltage of only one peak.

      I have the same question trying to choose 10X/100X vs 50X/500X. Anybody ever decide on the better choice for testing mostly SMPS in the US under 120/240 VAC.

    I'm a proud owner of a Micsig STO1102C and as I'm not going over 240V I put a simple 9V transformer in a box.
    That means I work with a battery operated oscilloscope and a galvanic isolation. That should be quite safe. Do you have an opinion on this?
    Btw, you should do a review of this oscilloscope. I love the hybrid: touch screen and buttons.

    • @callishandy8133
      @callishandy8133 Před rokem +1

      You have to be sure that the transformer is well isolated between primary and secoundary coil.
      Safer to use a simple 5 Volt powerbank under critical conditions.

    Be aware of voltage derating over frequency !

  • @juliusvalentinas
    @juliusvalentinas Před 2 lety

    So why isolation transformer on the scope is not enough? Everyone uses battery powered scopes for measuring AC 230/400V without any Differential Probes.

    • @modorangeorge4991
      @modorangeorge4991 Před 9 měsíci

      Isolation transformers is not used for the scope, never. Leave the main earth always connected. Use isolation transformer for the device under test. If you touch the BNC you will get an electric shock, that's why. The same with battery powered scopes, not safe.

    Another sales video. Who needs something like this? Are there any hard facts here beyond marketing blah-blah? How do "The best differential probe" and zero facts actually fit together?
