  • I had this snowblower running, but now it lacks power under a load, and sometimes doesn't want to start or stay running. I'll show you how to easily replace the carburetor.
Many brands of snow blowers use Tecumseh engines, so this video applies to a wide variety of snowblowers out there.
This carburetor was provided by Hipa and works great!
Purchase the carburetor I used here:

Flat head screw driver to hold the nut in that tight spot was a great tip! Killing it Hans!

  • @noelstractors-firewood57

Great how to video Hans. We got about 5” of snow here today. Almost a month since the last snow. Strange winter. 10C and rain coming this Saturday.

Thanks Noel! Overall we haven’t really had that much snow either. I’m hoping it ramps up here soon.

Haven't worked on any snow blower Tecumseh engines yet, just lawn mowers. For me, it's easier to remove the muffler and the intake and carburetor to work on or replace the carburetor. Good video, very detailed. thanks

Thank you! That’s not a bad idea of removing the muffler and intake for better access. I may try that sometime. Probably doesn’t add much time to the job either. Thanks for the idea.
I kind of opposite. I work on many snowblowers with a Tecumseh engine but not many lawn mowers. Haha

Good old Hipa. They make some decent non-oem.
5hp, 7hp, 10hp, etc. Those Tecumseh always sound the same.

Yeah I’ve had good luck with them. I don’t even know how many Tecumseh carbs I’ve used of theirs.

  • @mattthescrapwhisperer

I've heard good things about Hipa

Hi Matt! I’ve used quite a few of their carburetors and have never had an issue.

It's an awesome repair video. Thanks for sharing. I am glad that hipa parts do help to get the machine revived.

Thank you for supplying the carburetor. It’s working great so far.

Lucky!! 😆 I've messed with mine so much I simply give up. I've gotten new carbs and no difference. Actually the one carb was even worse. I'm now back to the old one. It runs fine wide open under a load but other then that is is surge surge surge surge surge 😵‍💫
It's so frustrating not being able to adjust them. I fixed a neighbors once and it was old enough to have adjustable carb. Got it dialed in really nice. I'd like to get a Farmall Cub with a blade and kick the snowblower to the curb. 😆

If it is surging more than likely there is an air leak somewhere

I’m with ya man. I like being able to adjust the carbs too. A common thing here at elevation is all the fixed setting carbs need their Jets drilled out a little bit to compensate for the difference in air/fuel ratio.
I think a Farmall Cub with a blade would be pretty fun too!

@@TractorHoarders yeah I read about drilling it out. I just never found the motivation yet and to be honest I forget all about it until it snows. 😆

The link you provided for the carburetor doesn't work. I've heard that Tecumseh has gone out of business, could that be why the link isn't working?
