Cleaned the carb as you described and it's running great now! Thank you!
I did , good video thank you for putting it up.
Good vid helped me out a lot , what a stupid freaking design. Damn engineers
Will not pull it where i live me have gumbow ground our 8630 just will pull a 9 bottom plow in gunbow in A 3 or 4.
Strong motor. Barely chugged🤙
I had a 4-ft snow thrower on a Craftsman lawn tractor in a blizzard like that. I had to put my snowmobile helmet on and it took me 4 hours.
Looks like a great project. I would take the valve cover off and make sure the vavles aren't stuck before pulling it anymore. I have seen a video were a guy used the drawbar and a chain on the flywheel to break it loose. When you get it running for the first rime make sure you check for oil pressure. The coupler that runs from the pump to cam can break.
Same B & S as my H16xt
That little B is strong!!
Just did this a few days ago on my neices power wheel, On amazon the sell a full kit, battery adapter plus a voltage stepdown controller, there is no speed boost due to the new voltage controller is static 12v output. but it made it a VERY easy install process the Dewalt batteries are so much easier to charge and swap out !
Thanks Man
Great video. Looking forward to more on this, I like you love old tractors. It’ll be interesting to find out what you do with this.
I didn't see you use any carb cleaner, on the plastic carb, although I saw a can of it in the video.
If it has a power block yes. If not , no.
Great video Hans! Interesting that you're coloring that dark beard gray these days!
That tractor has potential! Lots of work ahead but it will pay off. I was wondering where all the parts were, but then you showed them on your trailer. Look forward to your next video, thanks for inviting us along on this journey. 🚜 👍
Great video Hans. Can’t wait till the next one. I would take the crankcase cover off again and soak every thing with oil. And try to get to the valves and get something on the valve guides, stems and lifters. Interesting project. 👍🏻👍🏻👋👋
She's a peach! My uncle used to use Coca Cola to unstick rusty engines. The carbonic acid in coke desolved the rust although it dissipates pretty quickly. But so does Acetone in the tranny fluid mix.
That shield is because this was a distillate tractor. It's essentially to keep heat in the manifold to keep the kerosene/distillate warm as it enters the engine to help with proper detonation. They are actually pretty hard to find in good shape from what I understand. For the steering, once you get the covers off you'll know what you're looking at, but if you need a penetrant you could try a 50/50 mixture of ATF and Acetone. I would spray that throttle lever with some PB Blaster. Let it soak a while and give it some light taps back and forth with a rubber or plastic mallet. The engine... It's never a happy moment when you find that rust, but, what I hear a lot of people do is pull the block and pistons as a unit, get it up on blocks vertically and then use a thick steel pick on the top side of the pistons to protect them. Then, they'll take an old axle from a junk tractor and use that as the driver. Lift and drop onto that pick and it will bang those pistons out.
10mm we assume?
How do you like the live hydraulic pump?
I love it! They’re usually not cheap when you come across one but it sure has its benefits!
@@TractorHoarders thank you for responding, thinking about adding one to my A John Deere.
Great video. Thanks!
Glad you liked it. I hope it helped!
I have a 40 B slant dash I’m working on now. Can’t beat the sound of the 2 cylinders. Glad you’re saving it.
Very nice!
Every time I have to mess with those plastic carbs, I have a tendency to invent new cuss words.. lol..
Haha, I understand that. My first one I worked on really caught me off guard. After I figured them out, I prefer to work on these over any thing else!
There's a John Deere H, and M up for grabs in my neck of the woods 😂
Let me see how this goes and then we can talk 😂
@@TractorHoarders are you handy with money? 😁
@@mattthescrapwhisperer I’m sure good at spending it! Haha
Following! My dad restored many tractors over the years, with John Deere being his favorite. He would have loved to follow your work on this piece of history!
That’s great. I would have loved to have the knowledge that I’m sure your dad did for this. By me doing it and posting it on here, I’m trying to share knowledge and process with others to keep the hobby alive.
May want to check your serial number, that’s not a 39.
Yes, others have told me it’s a 1941. I usually use TractorData to verify but it’s been unreachable for me here the last few days.
Thank you for rescuing my dad’s tractor! I will be watching your progress. I’m Eldon’s sister Laura.
Hi Laura, thanks for your it support. I will try and make your family proud. Be patient with me, it may take me a little bit. ☺️
Great video as always. That was a little but nerve racking loading that. I sure like that IB there too!!
It was! Because of the frozen steering it made it that much worse. I’m thankful that Eldon’s farm hands were able to help. They were really great.
The IB is from Fort Howard Paper It has a push bar on the front to move pallets of paper.
@@eldonwalker4279 Cool history!!
Thanks for giving my grandpas tractor a new life! Can’t wait to see the process
Hi Morgan! It’s my pleasure! Thanks for following along!
Great video. It'll be good to see the process!
My hope is to get it free without too much hassle. But that’s what everyone hopes for lol. It’ll be interesting to see how this unfolds.
That’s gonna be a fun one to dig into. Looking forward to the upcoming videos!
I agree, Cody! Thanks! He said it turned over a year ago so I’m hoping I can free it up without getting too crazy. I’ll probably try and pull the head soon to get a look in there.
I am feeling the urge to go get me some overalls after watching this episode!
Lots to do there Hans. I’m sure it will be going again. Great story. And I will be following along. 👍🏻👍🏻👋👋
Hi Noel! I'm hoping it's not too bad to get everything freed up. Eldon stated it turned over a year ago, and we don't get that much rain in Colorado, so fingers crossed! Thanks buddy!
I’m hoping for the best. 👍🏻👍🏻👋👋
That's a big time project, but once you finish it you will feel good about saving another tractor. Can't wait to see what you do with this tractor. Thank you for helping out that gentleman. I know he will definitely appreciate your time and effort. 🚜 👍
Thanks Hyatt! This one needs a lot of love. Many things on the tractor are seized up, so I'll definitely be putting my abilities to the test. Eldon, the previous owner, just wanted to make sure that it went to someone who would not scrap it and would give it some love. If I can get it running again in some reasonable amount of time, I'd love to take it back to his farm and let him drive it around.
I would love that

@@TractorHoarders I'm keeping my eye out here locally for just such a find. Don't necessarily need one...but! 🤠
A nice addition. 🤠
I think it goes well with it!
I really like that MM 3 bottom. Would be a nice plow behind my SM.
I agree, it is nice! 👍 I picked it up at an estate sale for $50 and put 2 new tires on it so far, just looking for a 3rd. The SM would handle it well!
Many years jjst like that in North Idaho. Me and my little red 1985 Yanmar 3 cyl ooen cab tractor. Finally had enough and just purchased a 1025R with heated cab. Yeah, i look forward to a warm cab and hot coffee while i do my snow remova. Worth every penny. 🤠
Enjoy that nice warm cab! I haven’t yet got one but definitely see one in my future!
Nice I have a John Deere model A I'm restoring and I saw ur video and I am pretty sure that mine will pull out a three bottom plow as well
Your A should definitely do it as the B was designed to be 2/3 the size of an A. I have a 1950 JD A also and as soon as I get it repaired, I'll do comparison with it and how well it likely pulls the 3 bottom as compared to the B!
❤ OH Yeah! ❤
Yes
You were running it real deep and you need weight on the back wheels but it pulled it
It was deep for sure! I have a JD A that I need to fix, and once it's fixed, I'll do a comparison with it to share.
That’s a sharp looking B you got there. I think you should test the MM plow with a MM tractor next.
I have a few interesting plows that would be fun to bring for a future plow day. I'm sure this one would me a good match for your new MM.
Thank you for this!
Glad it was helpful!
