Fugu is a deadly pufferfish which contains a neurotoxin that can kill a person if consumed in high enough doses, so it takes two to three years of training to get a license in preparing wild fugu in restaurants and a dish of thinly sliced raw fugu sashimi as shown in the video can cost up to $200. However, more recently developed farm-raised fugu is believed to be (nearly) toxin-free and is therefore safer and much cheaper, and is probably what is shown in this video.

My heart goes out to all the people who think this fish is being skinned alive. It is killed with the first knife thrust. But I have empathy for your empathy.
Those chefs who are preparing Fugu fish need licence after 3 years apprenticeship course after course completion there will be a written test, observations test, tasting test finally demonstration it's such difficult test only 30% of chefs passing this tests
is it not can be poisonly? at my country (turkey) there are a lot of news at the internet about people who ate puffy fish and then after they get poison
Fugu is an amazing fish! As seen in the Vid handling a Fugu is similar to handling Rabbits with all that skinning and Chopping! Too bad it was shot in a take out only Shop! I would've loved to watch the different cooking techniques, but i loved the Show any way! Thanks alot!
Most of the fish is unedible. But the part that is tastes really good. Too expensive tho. Look at how long the prep work is? Other fish its not this hard. Chopping up a fresh salmon is easy. Plus most of it you can eat. Thats why giant salmon farms exist. Just giant man made ponds just for salmon farming..
I noticed that they cut the fish while it’s still alive and they do everything the same way the same pattern. Did they go to school for this and get a license for it?

Its exactly 2:20 am right now😂 must appear on everyones yt around this time
I remember following this page 3-4 years ago and not a single comment about the death of the fish now everyone seems to be focused on that only
It's also the most replayed .They seem to like it and hate it at the same time. 😂

Fugu itself is not toxic, it is what they eat is toxic. That is why farmed fugu is safe.

Thank you for the video about Osaka seafood 👍
I imagine you are already a certified chef...
When removing a puffer fish from the tank you have to be very careful with the poison. If you are going to eat a Fugu, be very careful.
Another great vid !...

He is dead since the knife destroyed his brain in two. All you see are muscle memory of the fish.

Cotton gloves, nice and sanitary.
Wait? What does one do with the other half? Is it boiled? Steamed? Or eaten raw as well?
Often, the rest is thrown away. Because it's all poison.
I know this is the culture in Japan but even when the fish was being skinned, its mouth was still moving.
I think those were just muscle twitches; fish are known to do that after death
She immediately terminated the fish with the jab thru the brain. Most humanitarian way for a fish
You really think the fish was alive in that moment bro? The first stab already killed it.
people: the fish is cute
fisherman: the fish will be cutting

If you cook this fish or prep(r.i.p) it in the wrong way you could r.i.p. Everyone handling this fish has special certification.

Картина 🖼 маслом.
14:26 why did he cut the fish so small?
Knowing that the butchers have to go years before they get certified to clean this fish makes me wonder how people can eat this fish 😮😮

The reason why I leave the water out and process the fish is also to prevent vibrio

Decade of training
Yeah they say it’s a lot a lot of training. You could literally kill someone.
According to a Nat Geo article on the subject, at least two years of training, then a final written test followed by a practical exam.
So wasting of water
Wasting water, eating animals. Wth is wrong with japanese
