- In July 2018 a horrifying video began to circulate on social media. It shows two women and two young children being led away at gunpoint by a group of Cameroonian soldiers. The captives are blindfolded, forced to the ground, and shot 22 times.
The government of Cameroon initially dismissed the video as “fake news.” But BBC Africa Eye, through forensic analysis of the footage, can prove exactly where this happened, when it happened, and who is responsible for the killings.
Warning: this video contains disturbing content.

I live in the US and I am eternally grateful for my freedom and the little I have. Freedom to do whatever I want whenever I want. I sometimes go out for walks or to the store at 1 am and I don't fear of getting shot or punished for being outside without a male accompanying me because I am a woman. Be thankful for what you have and be kind to others.

This is so cruel. It makes my heart shiver!! As a journalist I admire the investigation of my fellow journalists. I wonder who shot this video.
It was a soldier. We still don't know how and why the video was released. I'm Cameroonian and when this video came out there was an uproar in the country. Government-sponsored media were denying, saying it was Cameroon.. But we saw the video, we heard the men speaking, and the accents were Cameroonian, the vegetation and topography in the video were Sahelian (and the northern part of Cameroon has Sahel vegetation), the army fatigues were Cameronian.
We were all surprised that people could deny such blatant evidence. And this just one killing. Imagine how many extrajudicial killings these thugs who call themselves soldiers have done. It's just terible
One of the accomplice in the killings shot it and sent it to a friend, bragging about his toughness, then it finally spread on the social media where people found it incriminating
