Some people like to forget how good of a defender this guy was.
He was elite from ~2008 to 2014, dropped off in 2015, and came back the next year posting advanced defensive metrics on par with Kawhi (the DPOY) and Draymond Green (the following season's DPOY). He then solidified his defensive prowess in the playoffs and became the only player in history to lead both teams in all 5 major stat categories for a playoff series of any length-he did it in a 7-game series against the winningest regular season team ever, no less.
Locked up guards (Derrick Rose, Tony Parker, etc.), protected the rim (2009, 2013, 2016 come to mind), picked off passes... his résumé has it all except for the DPOY award itself, which was given to Marc Gasol instead even though he originally wasn't even going to be on either of the all-defensive teams that season.

@@pop_dog Jordan's defense was amazing. I don't think you can say all Jordan had to do was score but he definitely didn't have to put in a crazy amount of effort defensively every game because he had Scottie. MJ didn't have to defend the best player on the court, just torch them on offense. Also please don't take this as me diminishing MJ because he is an all time great defender but All defensive teams and DPOYs are based a lot on narrative and reputation. There is no exact defensive stats that the media look at to vote for those things. LeBron should have a lot more, Jrue Holiday should have a lot more and only started recently really getting recognized by the media for his defense because KD came out and said he was the best defender in the league.

im just trying to say that no matter who's the goat, everyone has a goat. let's just respect each other, not my problem if you feel lonely in your life and all you have to do is keep on hating.

And certainly increases your wear and tear exponentially. Fact that lebron has played through the transition of the game from its somewhat still physical era, into the high paced, high octane style game that it is today, and has still sustained himself as one of the best in the league 18, going to be 19 seasons in, that fact in itself is already unreal.

What I've noticed is that he doesn't hustle to plays he knows are over, or plays he lacks the angle to contest properly, so at times it looks like his defensive effort is weak. At the end of the day though he is still 5x NBA all-defense 1st team for a reason. When he does have the right angle, he does deliver.

Harden shook him 2 times and because he recovers harden gave up trying to score on him. You can't teach genetics bit lebron also never falls for pumpfakes.
