@@CaliJatt0809 please you can make a top 100 defensive plays with any player playing for 20 years… I’ve seen Isiah Thomas defensive highlight real… doesn’t mean he is a good defensive player. How about aside from looking at cherry picked highlights, you go look at his numbers… his defensive numbers are garbage and do not reflect his 12 all defensive selections… go to basketball reference and look at any defensive stats. You won’t find Kobe anywhere near the top 10 of any defensive advanced or simple… and in terms of PER game, Kobe doesn’t even have any offensive top 10 stats either… Kobe’s only records are longevity based… he was a great player for a long time, but he wasn’t the best… his ONLY MVP he received Lebron exceeded him in almost every stat with exception of free throw percentage, 3 point percentage; and they tied for steals per game… and on top of that, Lebron took the championship Celtics to 7 games where Kobe lost to them in 6… Kobe’s MVP was a given to him because they knew it was then or he would never get one… so they robbed Lebron… l don’t even particularly like Lebron but facts are facts… go look at the MVP numbers yourself for both players… hell you could have made an argument for Chris Paul that year too… there is almost nothing on paper to explain him being a top 10 player of all time… lol he isn’t even in the top ten for rings… tied at 14… and don’t even get me started on the MYTH that is “Mamba mentality”… Kobe got plenty of game winners, but when you put in on paper and break down the percentages, he is actually slightly BELOW average in terms of clutch shots… he just always took them… also never won 1 playoff series without Phil, Shaq or Pau… NOT 1…
Despite 12x All-Def Kobe's defense remains underrated. One of the greatest 2 way players of all time.

He is also second all time in all defensive 1st teams, yet they robbed him of dpoy as well as multiple mvp’s in the 2000’s because he had a bad image after shaq left and he went through his court drama.

Defensively maybe, but Bron is way more efficient than Kobe. This isn’t widely known but in Kobe’s final 60-point game he put up 50 shot attempts, which was a record. Bron has a higher fg%, ppg, and is more clutch. This is coming from a Kobe fan but unfortunately the stats show Lebrun is the better player.

Kobe also wasn’t always serious every in the allstar games either until when they were close. That clip of him on Bron prime example,he was more serious than LeBron about it. The mental game is half the battle, most of the time guys really didn't want smoke with Kobe.
It's a shame Kobe got no real run his first two years, during his rookie year he got to start 6 times.
he had a plus minus of +72 over the course of those 6 games, to go with 14.5ppg 3.1 rpg 1.8apg 1.6 spg .8 bpg and 44.8% FG
He just never had a real opportunity early on, he probably missed out on like 1400-2000 points, which would've put him right there just a few hundred from Malone. Out of Kobe's first 150 NBA games, he only got to start in 7 games!! Clearly being elite defensively from the start while also being a huge plus for the team when on the court, he was still denied a ton of opportunity to show his greatness. As soon as he became a starter the Los Angeles Lakers won three titles in 4 seasons, and the only season the Lakers didn't win was a lockout shortened season where Kobe only got to play 50 games, adjusting to being a starter for the very first time.
