I really liked this amp. For me there were 2 problems: a) it gets a bit to mushy when turned up over 50% and b) you don't really get a clean sound and even if you can dial one in it will be with a lot of master volume and almost no gain (bottom end) so it whould need another pedal (minus boost) or very good volume pot fiddling on a guitar with single coils to get an cleanish sound :/

You can probably get there with any of them. Speaker cab and guitar choice will be a big factor.

It is a high gain amp, dude. So...maybe focus on high gain? Also, for everyone commenting on the TV in the background, and all of the other electronics on in the back, every professional recording studio loves having many, many electronic devices on in the background all going at once. It really, really adds to your sound :)

    • @LeonTodd

The Dual terror has 2 channels IIRC, and then there's the Dual Dark which is the bigger brother of this amp.

No, you'd need a load box to do that (like i did in this video).

Curious about something. How would you compare an Orange Dark Terror with only 3 knobs againts a Carvin V3 with its massive selection of different knob selection? Do you prefer one over the other?

    • @LeonTodd

Different animals but all I will say is I did waaaaay more gigs with the DT than the V3.

Mine used to sound great, but the last couple months the gain tones just sound incredibly fizzy to me. Not sure what happened. Changed all tubes many times. It was always a little fizzy as you can hear in this video, but now it just sounds like someone yelling from behind a piece of notebook paper... almost too crunchy if that makes sense.

    • @bradleyd417

@petkopeet They share the same gain stages, so they’re very similar. The TH30 is slightly thicker, doesn’t get muddy as quick, and has a LOUD clean channel. For the price, I’d recommend the DT. Not enough of a tonal difference to constitute the cost, IMO.
