- Hello everyone and welcome back to my channel. Today I finally introduce you to my new(ish) dressage instructor, and he does not mess about. We run through my tests for Frickley Park horse trials this weekend, and Rich isn't impressed!

As much as Rich is very “savage”, he is equally as constructive and complementary as he his firm and honest, which is a perfect quality in any trainer with your best interest at heart. Also, trainers who speak to you throughout a ride are always the best! Glad to finally meet him!
He’s a great teacher! Very knowledgeable. I’m a pure dressage rider and my trainer always says something similar: “ride the movement not the test.” Good luck this weekend!

So good to see a young woman asking for real strong critique in order to work out the problems and improve. No one improves without brutal honesty. We just stay in the same spot. Congrats. He’s a good tutor. He sees the detail and doesn’t mess. Love it.
Omg he's a legend lol. We definitely need more Rich for sure. U rode the ponies so well and they really seemed to listen too. Yr whole demeanour changed when Rich was explaining and u looked fab. I love seeing u ride but omg u seemed so confident in this vlog. I can't wait for Frickly xx

I really really love watching your videos, especially lessons, and this one was terrific. I have spinal stenosis and after I've finished crying my tears of frustration you inspire me to fight the good fight and keep looking for ways to stay in the saddle. Hope the event went great.

I just love Dee so much (or apparently "this one" as she might be known from now on ;)). It really looked as if she too listened to Rich and concentrated so hard. I love how the two of you seem such a team of equals, you and Dee aka this one.

He is very nice even when he’s pushing you to accomplish a movement. Wonderful instructor. Both lessons were good but Dee’s was very helpful for me and my horse. Thank you for the great video!!!!! 🐴😀
Ooh I really like him! Sharp but simultaniously incredible constructive aswell as very onboard to celebrate your victories when you ride just right. Firm, just and honest as they come 👌🏼 Very very educational! Really appreciate his insights 💪🏽 well done you guys are a dream team!
I absolutely love leg yielding, I need to try that exercise down the fence! It looks so fun
Awesome. My biggest proble. Is I ride a lovely test and warm up in practice. The moment I am either videoed or a test situation, I ride the test and not my horse. Hearing your coach say ride the horse not the test is great advice for thousands of us all over watching. This coach seems phenominal. I trained with Charlie Hutton for a while b4 he moved to Scotland. Best coach I connected with. These videos are invaluable for so many of us that are similar mistakes. Oh and you sit beautifully and showing warts and all makes it authentic. 👏

You are looking class! Riding so well. Interview him about your Badminton ride. He must be just a little bit proud. You right hand isn’t nearly as bad as he makes out. Some physio on your shoulder /upper back and some kinesiology taping to give it some stability pre ride might be the answer to hand stability because your core is already stong

often times to get the best results in this field of interest is exactly what Rich presents in his instruction courses - ya just got to bite the bullet and press on through it and endure it all as part of the process. it truly does work but only when the student is willing.

Love the Rich already...blunt but supportive...we do like a character. Used to have an instructor who used a loud hailer and would yell "you're riding like a bag of a***holes" at regular intervals.

Great vlog Meg! Rich, the ponies and especially you, were superb. Have full sympathy in trying to “ride” a dressage test. The arena feels like it’s 10 feet square, and the movements come far too quickly! More of your lessons with Rich please, and best of luck at Frickley.

I love watching your videos!! You are such a good rider I love horses!! I jump 2 feet cross rails and verticles!! I have advanced horseback riding at the upper barn which is more advanced! I have only been riding horses English style for 1 year and 6 months and I love it! I am doing walk, Trott, canter showing this year at the barn I ride at against other people!
I shall be committing the 'roll a turd in glitter' comment to memory, brilliant :D

Some of my favorite things my trainer has said was…
“HALT! You are ruining this horse!”
“If you do that again I’m taking away your horse and selling him!”
(This was before I bought my 4 yr old- you want a young horse? You sure aren’t riding like it”
“We’re ending the lesson if you don’t support him to the fence”
“STOP STEERING WITH YOUR HANDS”
Etc etc I could go on forever

This is the first video I’ve noticed how different Jam and Dee are, Jam rides like a pony where as Dee seems a lot more ‘horse’ like! Love them both, well I just love a mare🤣 💞
