Great news. I've always enjoyed Nintendo hardware regardless of graphics. Them trying to get somewhat close to current gen is enough for me. Also, that optimization is key and we really should be more grateful for that. Thanks for the update OJ.
Switch 2 will be a beast for portable console around 15 watt, much more capable than the AMD APU 7840U in Rog Ally & other PC handhelds because of DLSS & heavy customised SOC ❤❤❤
@@Hazemannkeep dreaming that will never happen and the current rumor specs about switch 2 is just rumors not the finalize hardware.
@@Hazemanndo we really think Nintendo would sell their handheld console for 600-700$? The system will not be more powerful than the Ally. It will have advantages with DLSS though. It will most likely punch above its weight but in terms of raw power it will not be stronger than high end and expensive Pc handhelds which are close to PS4 Pro power. Not even close.

If it's true it will be great.
Whatever Nintendo is doing for their next console it’s gonna be worth the wait and hype and having it both 1080p handheld and 1440p docked is all i need all locked in 60fps or more can’t wait.
No console has set resolution peak will be 4k not 1440p it will support many and use many resolutions like all consoles do
I'm sure it'll be 720p handheld 1080p docked. With a 4K model three years later

Nintendo means business. Their relationship with NVIDIA and Unreal Engine when it comes to creating a new Nintendo hybrid/4K platform in 2024. I cannot wait for Nintendo including Japanese third parties release some games for the new system.
Never getting 4k especially in a hybrid form factor.
Please don't let Gamefreak try to make a 4k game
That's what DLSS is for.
They have to it will be better
The chances of this thing providing a 4K game are nonexistent. You can play 4K games on an RTX 4060 with DLSS and get good FPS and picture quality. That is a $400 GPU! People are out here acting like they understand, but they don't. This thing has to be able to run off a battery, play games at acceptable frame rates, have a decent resolution, amd be "affordable". Go price handheld gaming PCs right now and tell me that they're within the "affordable" range. 😆 people need to seriously start cutting their expectations down.
I mean it certainly wouldn't be able to have a 4k image in handheld. That's the only time it runs on battery. That's not a constraint of docked mode. If the 8 inch screen is for real, i think 1080p would be more than sufficient. What may or may happen when docked is anyone's guess. But at least the devs sound happy. And if the new device outputs 1440 max with generally higher, more stable framerates, i think most people wouldn't really care if it's not 4k.
But can't the Steam Deck output upscaled 4k? If so I'd think a hypothetical Switch 2 could.
They need help from Monolith Soft
Hopefully the transition from the Switch to the successor is smooth. I'm kind of wary from seeing the transitions of Wii to Wii U and DS to 3DS, but it seems like Nintendo is very aware of those transitions and how to transition to a new console with more powerful hardware! I wonder what new gameplay innovations this successor will have. The camera rumor makes me think we're getting something AR related.
both of those suffered from Nintendo poorly communicating those systems as new platforms and not accessories or add-ons to previous hardware. Won't be an issue this time around.
@@BronzeLincolns81the Wii U yes, but the 3DS? Who thought it was an addon would probably think that the PS5 is an addon for the PS4.xD

Maybe not an add-on but just another revision instead of the actual successor. My dad thought this and decided yo get me a dsi xl instead of a 3ds cos he thought it was just a hardware revision. Once it started to get a decent exclusive library (more mario 3d land and less nintendogs and cats) that perception changed.

Interesting that Nintendo chose an Epic demo to showcase considering it seems like not long ago we were talking about Nintendo falling behind with their Unreal Engine 3 and 4 support. Seems like the Epic and Nintendo relationship is better than ever. I'm anxious to see now the first game(s) using the DLSS/raytracing
Switch 1 is unreal 4 5 compatible unreal 3 wasn’t switched fault it was the engine was old and a switch version wasn’t developed. By unreel. Unreal 5 etc demo was used just as unreal etc demo was also used for tegra x1 by nvidea it’s just the same demo repeating

Nonsense. Are you trolling? It will not be more powerful than high end PC handhelds. It has to hit the price point of 400$.
Another great video OJ!!! WELL SAID AND WELL SPOKEN MY FRIEND. I absolutely agree with 100% of what you said in the video. Honestly, i couldn't have said it better. I'm glad we have intelligent folks like you that can theoroughly explain clearly on whats going on in thr industry not just from a personal standpoint, but logically trlling people what it really is. Thank you for this video.
Cool video well explained its sounding like the next version is going to be more powerful than thought is going to be sounds promising
One thing, look at DF on ultra performance at 1080p, I've tried it out myself. basically 360p rendering out to 1080p. It's really not that bad, worse for sure then native with TAA, but at the point I would say "comparable". That and the other tech Nvidia have is Ai upsampler, that the Nvidia shield uses. I wonder if that or something similar could be used from the dock level to push an image to 4k.
Latest tegra developments, and some specs as well as leaks will still have the Switch 2 probably doing quite well on it's own considering mobile form factor and battery limits. T234 as a 50w chip ( which is what leaks have said is the base of the Switch 2's chip ) is around the ball park of a series S. It will most likely be restricted from this chip with clocks, and rumour of only 75% of the Cuda cores (1536 instead of 2048 cores ), which would still make it hit at or a bit above the OG PS4 assuming the Switch is based on this chip in terms of raw compute. Other advancements, and yes heavy use of DLSS should hopefully make it I guess, easier for ports to make it across. Take in Switch clocks with the rumoured 1536 cuda cores would make it 2.3 Tflops, which would go further then the older architecture in the PS4 most likely, based on known Ampere based improvements.
Definitely be interesting once we get a reveal. I'm sort of thinking a 1.4 Tflop handheld and 2.3 TFLOP docked mode would be feasible, hit power and battery requirements and be able to give a good enough output that is comparable, but still behind the PS5 and Xbox Series X by use of quality upscaling.
Thinking a 720p handheld target could still be on the cards here, but perhaps 1080p could be achieved and a 1440p docked target with upscaling from there, or it might just output 1440p with nothing after that, but thinking say 360p -> DLSS ultra perf to 1080p -> Nvidia AI upscale -> 4K could be a possibility, which should hopefully give enough headroom for decent enough but sacrificed visual quality such as some obvious checkerboard type patterns on fine details etc that in motion might look fine unless directly compared. (NOT ALL GAMES WOULD BE 360P, JUST AN EXTREME.. LIKE WITCHER 3 ON SWITCH GOES THAT LOW ALREADY - caps cause people don't understand 360p DLSS is doable with ultra performance settings, and much better then what the Switch already had for those games that had very low internal resolutions).
Of course could all be a bunch of baloney, always sceptical on leaks and could and probably be wrong, just educated guesses, but only way I really see something like Matrix Awakens as being feasible at that image quality with the state of what's currently known and the additional info of the leaks and assuming it was a 4K picture shown as well, not 1080p on a 1080p screen etc.
That would make it 6x more powerful then the Switch. after around 7 or so years after Switch launch assuming a next year Switch 2 launch, which is comparable to say PS4 to PS5 and Xbox One to Series X in terms of leap as well so given what we know of the latest Tegras, what appears might be in the Switch and taking power into account, can get an educated guess which is what happened here. Cortex A78 as the CPU probably wouldn't quite hit PS5 / Xbox Series level of performance, but I'm not that familiar with arm technicals unfortunately.
For people who think these are throwing just random numbers. 1536 Cuda cores is the leak. The T234 runs at 1Ghz boost, take that down like the Switch did with the X1 to 768mhz, cores * Ghz * 2 is how tflops are worked out. Do the same for the portable clock speeds and it probably would be hitting around the 15W power mark in handheld while still giving that 1.4 Tflops or so of compute. Another caviat is TFLOPs dont mean visuals, as there is a lot of different things that need to be considered, but looking at Ampere and how that goes can be somewhat an OK way of getting a rough guess of what could be achievable. As for those saying no way it will be less powerful then a series S, the most powerful mobile chips at full power are hitting only Series S levels. There is no way it will be close to this, similar to X2 being available but a custom X1 being used for the Switch. It's too expensive and too power hungry to be feasible for a mobile form factor and battery tech. We'd be paying Rog Ally levels for a console which Nintendo most likely will never do. Given the upscale patents as well we'll be probably seeing something that plays heavily on the ability to upscale quite low internal resolutions up to something that is at least respectable which should hopefully fix up one of the Switch's issues with low resolutions like with Doom etc that got crazy low, as DLSS will at least improve the image quality to a decent degree if it wasn't there or FSR was used at those resolutions.
It's always mind boggling to me you have weirdo ytbers say Switch sells cuz of third party games and thus Switch needs to be as powerful as steam deck. Not really next gen Switch just needs to be powerful enough and be much more convenient for players. And people should stop using the past to think that Nintendo is gonna do stupid move like the Wii U days. It ain't the same anymore.
What people don't realize is that Wii U was what helped them transition to the Nintendo Switch. Ls will happen from time to time but, what Nintendo did while it was happening was learn.
The first part its true, 50% of the games sold on the switch are third parties, it would sell way less if it only had exclusives, ppl sure wants to have all in 1 and not to be forced to buy another another console
@@Elchinodawn Which the Switch doesn't offer.
Hold up hoooooold up you said in the past that the next Switch wont be as powerful as the PS4...I told you the next Switch using the T239 custom Nvidia chip set would be as powerful as the PS4 Pro or can come close to the XBOX SS now your changing your story come on OJ.
It won’t be as powerful as the series S or PS4 pro. There is literally no chance. It’ll be around PS4 power but have DLSS/ more modern tech. The Ally is close to PS4 Pro level and it costs almost double of what Nintendo can realistically charge. The switch will not be able to compete power wise with high end and expensive PC handhelds that have horrible battery life.
So if Switch 2 utilizes DLSS, then we can expect ray tracing capabilities as well.
So we are probably getting something between a Steam deck and a ps5 that's more i could ask for from a handheld device tbh
3:57 DLSS ON his hair! LOL
this is big, i was not expecting this much power
DLSS makes it a bit more possible.
I'll obviously buy the next Nintendo system as it's nice to have new stuff like this and im interested to see improvements too, but man why y'all prioritize power and graphics way too much instead of actually having games with great gameplay and such?
I hope it's backwards compatible. That would be cool
Soooooo excited for some really news. Of course I want more power but battery life is very important. I play only in handheld with the switch.
Shoot when this new tech comes out! It's gotta be worth the bang for the buck! Honestly hopefully it has mostly quality of life features! And greater gadgets we can invest into and play with! Those are my two cents
Nvidia laptop gpus are more power efficient than AMD ones. So I would not be surprised if it had around Steam Deck power with better battery life, and way better upscaling. I don't think it will be faster than a Steam Deck though.
Man the news is legit and im loving all the hype and none stop videos and talks about it i just cant wait i need this switch 2 asap ive been waiting waiting waiting for it so badly
Still have questions regarding some of the technology bottlenecks such as battery tech and how this will be possible as a Hybrid, but certainly hope you are correct.
DLSS - technically it would run games at really low resolutions then up res them.
DLSS would allow handheld mode to run at 240p and display at 720p or 360p but display at 1080p then docked it could be 480p and run at 1440p And if they wanted to 720p to run it at 4k.
I am hyped beyond words. Great video!
🤔????what game and system are the switch 2 going to have? I can't wait to per order Switch 2
Let's think, "Mario Kart 9" in 4K/60 in TV mode as a launch title(!?), why not!☺

Can't wait 😎
Def think it will be a video separate from a September Direct. If they do like they did Switch, late October preview, release mid-March
Also, the Microsoft/Activision deal got extended to mid-October. Maybe COD runs just fine on S2, just can’t reveal trade secrets? Seemed the COD on Nintendo held up the anti-trust lawsuit and maybe the other shoe drops then…
The huge advantage for playing your games in the cloud, you get unlimited storage options and the size of your games won't be a problem for you. Call of Duty will run incredibly well on the Super Nintendo Switch.
Hype really is building around the switch 2. The leaks continue. I believe it releases the middle of next year. It is being built on a winning formula. It really wants to succeed. Enjoy watching your vlogs and Spawncast
Makes sense it would run on PS4 pro technology more than PS5. Especially being so small.
Yes.
Switch 2 is pretty awesome
if they showcased botw on the switch's successor then that means it will have backwards compatibility at least for switch games
Do you feel it?
The hype?
Why would you be hyped about basically nothing? These reports might not even be true.
Man, this was one hell of a video! 👍
If it were backwards compatible they could use dlc to patch the game
Interesting times ahead. They’re just word of mouth snippets at the moment so I’m still staying calm about it all.
If these rumors are true... that means Xenoblade Chronicles X is 100% going to be on this new console.
I know it's off topic but I want to know your thoughts on One Piece live action. ^-^
If I'm being honest, the most exciting thing I'm hearing is that Nintendo is going to genuinely make an effort on the graphics front, if the system can compete with current offerings, I won't need to emulate everything. My current relationship with Nintendo is 1) Buy the game, 2) Dump the game, 3) Wait a week or two until Yuzu or Ryujinx can emulate it relatively bug-free.
"Relatively bug-free". LOL
Quite a bit of it would be Nvidia.
If this turns out to be true, keep in mind that, if the FF7 R is already working and is only comparable to PS5 or Xbox, it can be polished up to look even better or work better too as well with DLSS. We are so far away from release so who knows
More then likely it’s not true the hardware that’s in the current prototype switch 2 will be much different in the finished product more then likely will be weaker then the prototype switch .
FF7R will not be coming out for the switch successor so it's not happening.
Hopefully square redeems themselves after what they did with kingdom hearts
Nintendo needs to balance the power and the battery 🔋 life out for this switch 2 player. The problem with the steam deck is. The steam deck is more powerful than the switch. But the battery 🔋life on the steam deck sucks. The switch oled is less powerful. But the switch oled is good on the go due to the good battery life. More time to play switch games 🎮 on the go with the oled switch.
As much as I enjoy the switch I wish Nintendo would’ve kept their portables and home consoles seperated. Seems that they really put themselves behind Sony and Microsoft and now they are playing catch up while trying to stay in their own lane.
You don't look old enough to know what mode7 is....touché
If this is true that is maximum hype man! Still have some reservations incase its not true but I want it to be so bad lol
first of all Switch 2 are most likely using Ampere and not Ada Lovelace architecture so no support for DLSS 3 (frame generation), and even if they somehow manage to include DLSS 3 it's not good in low resolution and 30fps base...
DLSS 3 at best when you have 1080p base resolution with 60FPS , then with DLSS 3 you can get to 4k 120FPS !!!
how that will work on Switch 2 ???
What would a switch 2 cost to buy looks like it would cost a lot
they are poised to take a huge chunk of gaming if they just get a clue and beef this system up
I'm expecting the Next Switch to surpass the Switch as my all time favorite console. There's no way it won't have a better library than the Switch.
As I have been saying for a while now,
Nintendo will adopt Googles Data Centers, it's Google Stadia reincarnated for the Super Nintendo Switch console, when you hardwire your internet connection to the console, you summon the power of Cloud Computing capable of running Nintendo games at up to 4K and 120 fps. Again this will be optional, but exclusive content and games will be made available, and options to play the games you own in the cloud! I'm excited if this happens.
It won't be called super Nintendo switch
And 120fps 4k, *LOL*, That will never happen.
That sounds horrible
Well let's hope this all ends up being true. For now I'll be cautious with my expectations until the launch of the console, it's Nintendo we're talking about.

When Switch first came out I remember reading something where Nintendo said they wanted the switch to last at least ten years
In 2022 furikawa said
Switch is just in the middle of its lifecycle and the momentum going into this year is good. The Switch is ready to break a pattern of our past consoles that saw momentum weakening in their sixth year on the market and grow further.
If this is just the middle then don’t expect any new systems until 2027 or 2028
Again If Furukawa’s comments are taken at face value that would mean the Switch will still be on sale in 2027.
They won’t need a switch 2 until 2027 the switch’s ten year anniversary will be a perfect time to announce a successor system
