  • Thanks again for all your subscriptions.:) The plan for this year is to finish the Ingersoll Rand 375 CFM compressor and start on the 1947 Diamond T with the 4-53T engine. Here's the link to the compressor.:) • Detroit 3-53T Ingersol...

Love the channel. I thought the 6-53T was going into the Excursion?
Have fun cleaning up the shop - I have to do that in my shop pretty regularly and once it's done it feels so good.

Still undecided what to do with it, It's going to be a hard fit into the Excursion as the AC/fan share the same place as the 6V53T.:) Might make a great engine for the 37 Diamond T with an open engine bay.:)

I cannot wait for the compressor project! Also I did find a classic MCI MC-12 prison bus with an 8v71 randomly on FB marketplace. Nice looking bus, but I do not have the means financially to get it and convert it to an RV as of now. Hopefully I will be in better standing financially a year from now of so.

Awesome, those are huge projects.:) They do come up from time to time here as well.:) Certainly a great candidate for an RV.:) You might like this MC8 I helped get running, 8V71 that had sat for 15-20 years.:) Was nice to here the 8V71 come back to life. czcams.com/video/07j_gfjnHWg/video.html

I'm so happy to have found this channel, especially that you're also a Canadian! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge about these insane engines from yesteryear. Please keep doing this, your experience is absolutely invaluable for people like me who would love to own a screaming jimmy own day.
With that said, given your experience; do you think a 453t would fit in a Crown Victoria? Hood clearance aside, the 4.6 was a big engine, but I've never actually seen a 453 in real life, but the engine bay for the F250 should be roughly~ the same size? As far as I gather the 4R70W and 8.8 should be able to handle the torque of the 4 cylinder, but probably not enough for the 6v53.

The 4-53T is going to be very tight in a Crown Vic, but anything is possible. The engine weight is the problem @ 1250 lbs and it’s 39” in length, 35-37” tall and 27” wide. After everything is added on the engine, it’s a tight fit in my 2009 F350.:). The next challenge is making adapters for the transmission, there’s no one to my knowledge than make any for the crown Vic trans. I tried my best to find someone to make the adapters for my Ford 5R110, but no luck. I ended up having to make my own, so that’s a challenge as well. The 6V53T is even heavier and larger.:)

@@detroitgarage9430 Thank you so much for your reply! Is the length the challenge in making things fit in the F350? I've seen somebody put a powerstroke in a crown vic, with a lift to help with the oil pan clearance. I know the front sub frame is pretty robust , but the Detroit really is a different beast. Do you think I'd have better luck with a 353 instead?

@@maxwellg1361 The length is pretty close to the Powerstroke so not an issue. It's the height that was the problem, I have Jakes, so I'm another 2-3" taller than a standard 4-53T. I'll measure my 2-53 tomorrow and let you know the minumum height that a 4-53T could be.:) I had to lift my cab 1.5" so the hood can close. If you run electric fans, the 4-53T should fit.:) If I were you I'd try to stay with the 4-53T, lots of power for the Crown Vic.:)

@@detroitgarage9430 Jakes are a huge part of the appeal, so knowing they add to the height is good to know. That might change my initial thoughts of swapping the dana 35 and transfer case from an Explorer in the front. I want it to be a winter highway warrior so putting a huge lift kit on it to fit everything will start to negatively affect handling.
