Yes!!!! Just with a different team than the current Mickey shorts. Mickey and Oswald are "rubber hose"/"slapstick" types. Not "extremized emotion" types in the same way as the Genndy Tartakovsky characters (i.e. "Billy & Mandy", "Hotel Transylvania") that Disney seems to have the habit of shoe-horning Mickey and his pals into at the moment. I'll watch Oswald and I'll go back to watching Mickey too when they finally see what they're doing and fix it.

WormyChan I was at Disney World 2 weeks ago and there were plenty of Oswald pins, plushies, and a lanyard.
I wonder if Oswald will ever be in Kingdom Hearts. I'd love to see how they'd use his character. Personally, i think It'd be cool if he started as a Villain, maybe manipulated by Maleficent into attacking Mickey.

oh my god no. Do you realize what that's done to the characters?! He's a great cartoonist and I love his style, but whoever is writing his Mickey shorts doesn't seem to know who Mickey and his friends really are! :(
Might be difficult if Universal still owns the shorts made during Walt's tenure.
@@TooCooFoYou I'm not sure but I think when they traded Al Michaels for Oswald, the rights to the toons came in the deal. Al complained publicly about being "traded for a cartoon" on Sunday Night Football. Restoration was to be done but not sure if more than 1 was finished.
Oswald actually had a rather unfortunate Cameo in the Short "Canned".
I almost punched my computer when i saw it. My baby deserves so much better.

Over 2 years later, Oswald almost got nothing but a few cameos in the Mickey Shorts and movies. He seemingly gets a show on Disney Plus but it's not confirmed yet.
They should make a show that is based on the epic Mickey games

@@Angie2343 YES!!! There are so many different theories out there on how he could fit into Kingdom Hearts! The most popular one is that he could be recruited by Maleficent somehow, pitting him against Mickey. I actually support this theory, because it could actually be pretty cool. Who wouldn't want to see a massive KeyBlade fight between Oswald and Mickey? If they took influence from Epic Mickey, Oswald's story could be like Spinel from Steven Universe. Initially out for revenge, good guy for a while, back to revenge, then good guy permanently.
The second biggest is a little weird: He could be Mickey's nobody. The theory is that if some how mickey fell into darkness, Oswald would be his nobody. I don't completely understand this theory, but thought I'd mention it since it's the second biggest theory.

Disney does not "own" Oswald, he entered public domain after years of the character not being used. Once something enters public domain it cannot be aquired by ANY company. All disney owns is the original Disney/Iwerks created Oswald shorts. The character itself is within the public domain
Flint Other way around the shorts are in the public domain while Disney owns the trademark for the Disney and Iwerks version so Oswald is still a trademarked character that can't be used without permission from the owner of the trademark with exceptions of Fair Use.
I agree with Grizzly. Because I read somewhere that Universal still owned the character rights (as in they never became "public domain") and agreed to give them back to Disney.
